In other news, I watched The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec

And it was as wonderfully cracky and ridiculous as the trailer made it seem.  Louise Bourgoin as Adele is stunning, hilarious and badass (she rides an mother-frakking Pterodactyl people!).  Adele is like Evie from The Mummy movies only bitchy and French, or like Lara Croft if she was kinda goofy, bitchy and French, which is to say that Adele Blanc-Sec is sexy, awesome, smart, kick-ass, bitchy and French.  Also, Adele's Morgause-esque dedication and inappropriate love for her twin sister Agathe definitely endeared her to me.

Regarding your Lost Girl fic: it is definitely one that I am going to read but I'm 3 eps behind and I like to be current with the show when I read fic. Also, it joins an ever-growing list of stories I have saved/bookmarked to read - I think the shorter days make it seem like there is less time overall. Still, that sucks there are so few comments for so many views.

Lost Girl is sucking, and I wish it wouldn't, because I kind of told myself that after the last fandom heartbreaks I had (Pushing Daisies, Otalia, Pepa/Silvia, Legend of the Seeker, W13, Ivy/Rachel) that LG was it - if it disappointed me, I was done...But I don't want to hold myself to that lol. Don't make me give up, Lost Girl! Don't do it!

Ugh. Lost Girl is giving me such horrible "The Hollows" flashbacks. Finally letting go of "The Hollows" when it was all pain and no pleasure showed me that I can do it, and that it does help. So if Season 2 of Lost Girl is anything like the last couple episode have been I will walk away.

The film is pretty fun. It's even more ridiculous than "The Fifth Element" (which I loved too), but it's still got a kick-ass female heroine, and I found it pretty hilarious too. Plus ... Louise *dreamy sigh*

I'm honestly avoiding any Lost Girl fic concerning Bo and Lauren until I see a significant period of Lauren being intricate to the story and has equal face time with Bo and the others. Not to mention Bo is really an unlikable character right now. I guess I'm more upset that the show and the characters were presented as being in a triangle and yet it was barley shown only for it to utterly jump off a cliff, never to be addressed or even picked up again. If they had just made them friends than I could go with the imagination in the same way I do other shows. Right now I'm much more in Morgana/Morgause of Merlin and the various pairings on Legend of the Seeker. Unless Lost Girl picks it up or changes it drastically to let Lauren explore a relationship with some other female I will toss this show.

About commenting on fics. I often read them and enjoy them, but then really think of nothing to say. "This was nice and sufficiently entertaining" doesn't really seem like much to say. Often times my head is just that empty that there's nothing to write.

I've enjoyed a lot of Luc Besson's work but Adele Blanc-Sec didn't really get so many good reviews. I think I'm going to check the comic book first. It might have more philosophy and social commentary in it, looks like. Another French comic book series I really liked is Tintin. Which leads me to remembering being annoyed Cameron still not filming Battle Angel Alita despite all the talk.

Actually I ran off and watched the movie and LOVED it! Fresh and damn funny! And Louise Bourgoin is just, yummy-yummy (yes she deserves two!). Thank you for an enjoyable evening. This made me laugh. But you know what? I kind of like that we (fangirls) have such resilient optimism. We jump on board things and devote ourselves to them right away, and one day, ONE SHINING DAY, one of these things will not disappoint us. Probably. Maybe. Well...hopefully?

OK. I've caught up on Lost Girl. So when the hell did Bo and Dyson become all lovey dovey like that? Did I miss something? I can not believe they just dismissed Lauren from Bo's life like that! Did Dr. Hotpants not spend hours in Bo's bed and actually be seen in said bed on national television? With said succubus? And now no mention of her? That is so unnatural. There must be something brewing cause it's too, too, odd! Blaaaaah! Barbie and Ken will make me run from this show so fast it isn't funny. At least give the Dr. a chance to explain. At least do that much so I won't have to shoot this show to put it down!

I know, the over the top Byson stuff was out of control. Last week with Bo dropping "my man's" kind of prepared me for couplelyness but I was not prepared for this disgusting level of it.

I can only hope that the exaggerated happiness spells disaster for Byson next week. Anna twitted that finale is full of twists, Zoie twitted that Lauren will be in the finale (though she didn't say how many scenes), and one of the showrunners said that the triangle was still alive, so there is a little hope in my heart, but the finale will really determine whether or not I'm actually anticipating season two.

In other news, I did enjoy reading Anna's tweets about how awesomely funny Zoie is IRL, and Anna saying that she's a very good, passionate kisser. Girl!crush on Zoie Palmer expands exponentially.

I suppose the only good thing I can say going into the finale is that the last two episodes have lowered my expectations so much, that anything that isn't blatantly awful will be a pleasant surprise to me.

If you go to "Profile" and then "Stats/My Guests" you can see some stats. I think I can only see how many people look at particular entries because of having a paid account though.

It's an evil thing though. Ignorance really is bliss. I am going to have to try and control the urge to check it again, because it is just depressing. Usually not THAT depressing, but it never cheers you up.

OMG yes! I've found that almost all fics (including mine) have to have Bo a little OoC just to make her tolerable enough to write about. It's like, "What would Bo be like if she was a decent person?" and then take it from there.

But holy god, I can't remember hating the main character of a television show the way I hate Bo ... ever. Even Rachel Morgan comes across better than Bo, and I've come to loathe Rachel Morgan.

Word. So many aspects of the show have gone this way though. The writing has just been incredibly lazy/incompetent (especially in the last half of the season). I mean, it's impossible to really ship ANYONE. Bo/Dyson doesn't even have a ton of shippers because of how crappily that relationship has been portrayed as well. There are Dyson shippers, but like most of the people I know are Lauren shippers, but Bo is so despicable that most people don't want the current incarnation of her anywhere near their favorite (whether it be Dyson or Lauren).

If they had just made them friends than I could go with the imagination in the same way I do other shows.

Oh, I know. I've almost come to hate episode 8 because of how Bo/Lauren was destroyed after it. If Bo and Lauren had continued to flirt while their friendship solidified and strengthened, it would be SO MUCH EASIER to ship them and fic them.

Right now I'm much more in Morgana/Morgause of Merlin and the various pairings on Legend of the Seeker.

*nods* That's because as "evil" as Morgana and Morgause are supposed to be, the one thing the Merlin writers have consistently done is show that they LOVE and CARE about each other. I think that fact that their relationship has remained strong is the only thing that has gotten me through this 'evil morgana' arc.

And Legend of the Seeker was just such a well-written show. The writers cared about the characters, and spent time developing them and their relationships which is why it was so easy to become attached to so many of them. When Mord'Sith like Denna (or even Dahlia) are more appealing/humanized than the 'heroine' of your show you know you've got a problem in the writing department.

I get that, sometimes it is hard to find something lengthy or meaningful to say. As a writers, I will say that even getting "I liked it" comments, or "that was nice" comments are welcome. It's a very farcical movie. If you go into it expecting an action adventure film you definitely won't like it. But if you go into it expecting a silly comedy with some actions sequences and a pretty lady kicking butt then you should find it enjoyable.

I didn't even know there was a comic version of it though. Let me know if you think the comics are any good.

I never read the manga, but I was excited when I read a synopsis of Battle Angel Alita to see it on the big screen and am disappointed no headway has been made on it either. I liked Avatar well enough, but I'd definitely rather see the Battle Angel movie than another Avatar film.

Now that the weekend is here, naps, and steamy showers are definitely on the menu. Hopefully some dreams of Dr. Hot Pants as well, though LG is irritating me so much I don't think that will happen.

Watching RE: Afterlife again did provide some lovely Alice/Claire dreams though, so that's definitely an acceptable substitute to Dr. Hot Pants.

I made it a priority to get some Vick's VapoRub yesterday, and I think that definitely helped. Today, I could breath at least which was a blessed relief.

We couldn't have known! It started off so decently with the potential to be good. I honestly never could have imagined the depths to which it sunk when I first squee'd about it. I've NEVER seen a show go downhill so quickly.

I wanted so badly for it to be my new Legend of the Seeker, but ... well, this show is NO Legend of the Seeker (and even if the second season is better I know it's never going to be as genuinely good as that show).

Hopefully the finale will be good enough to at least keep me interested enough in the show to watch next season. I WANT to keep watching, but if it stays this bad I just won't do that to myself.

The movie is really fun. It's ridiculous, but it's fun. And Adele definitely has an Evie vibe to her, but most of the movie doesn't actually take place in Egypt (I would have loved it if it did though, that portion of the film was great and easy my favorite - other than the Adele attempts to break someone out of prison scenes which cracked me up).

Again, the movie is ridiculous, but as long as you are prepared for it to be completely cracked out, you should enjoy it!

Thanks! I'm definitely feeling better today than I was yesterday. Yesterday I felt like ten miles of bad road, but at least today I could breathe properly so my mood has improved.

Re: Lost Girl, I stopped watching it a while back, watched the Bo/Lauren ep because you reviewed it, but that's about it. I'm kind of obsessed about Fringe right now, it's the only show I watch religiously as soon as I can get my hands on it. Where's Rachel when Olivia needs her? This week's ep was so awesome and angsty. I'm amazed at how well the show is written this year.
