Oh, Kenzi ... I feel ya, I feel ya.

A "Lost Girl" episode 2x02 - "I Fought the Fae (And the Fae Won)" post.

On the one hand, it'll be easier to watch the show having lost any hope of Bo/Lauren being a real thing.  On the other hand, I've lost any hope of Bo/Lauren being a real thing.

Thoughts

1.  Kenzi continues to be hilarious.

2.  The Trick/Blackthrone stuff was really interesting.  Fae politics continues to be of the good.

3.  It's probably a bad thing that I enjoyed Green Arm Band mocking Bo and generally being like, "you ain't shit" to her, cause she needs to mocked and she really ain't shit.  Boobs are not a plan Bo, even if they are nice like yours.

4.  I really wish all of the "cases" would stop "secretly" being about Bo's issues with Dyson.  How do Bo and Kenzi eat and pay for their fashionably dingy mansion?  Didn't they used to take cases and get paid money instead of the satisfaction of a job well adequately done?  When was the last time they took a case that wasn't one of Bo's crusades to prove that true love exists?  I signed on for the adventures of a take no shit, kind of tortured Succubus detective on a mission to clean up the streets from Fae scum as a way to atone for her past of murdering humans to stay alive.  I didn't sign on for "Sex and the Succubus".  Puh-leeze, can they have a real case!?!

5.  Found out about Hale's past.  Lauren ... yeah, you guessed it, nothing.

Complaining

Just ... how is it more important to see Bo embarrassingly try to seduce Dyson and then moping over him when we have no idea whether or not Lauren is going to be killed, banished, imprisoned, [insert other possible bad thing] because of a new Ash being named?  Like, Lauren looked like she was on the verge of vomiting in terror when she heard that a new Ash might be named and then ... nothing?  No other mention of how the whole situation with the Stag  and a new Ash being named would effect Lauren's life continuing?

Okay, show.  You've convinced me.  You really don't give a shit about Lauren as a character.  She will never be anything more than a doomed rebound relationship and then another person in Bo's life that she can use when it suits her (which, considering that this has been their entire relationship on screen so far, I really should have been more prepared for it).

I give kudos to Anna Silk for making Bo seem like she cares about Lauren when they are interacting on screen together (even though it's also kind of cruel), but the writing just undermines anything she manages to do by showing Bo just not giving a shit.  She'll arrange dinner dates and go completely psycho trying to help a complete stranger, but she (or the writers) can't spare two minutes for a phone call to Lauren just to make sure she won't be buried alive in the Ash's tomb along with him and the cats?

*sigh*

I think I remember reading that Lauren and Bo would be interacting because of the new Ash. Lauren would need Bo's help because of her unstable position and they are supposed to have actual scenes together.

I would totally believe that the show will have Bo trying to protect Lauren when she pulls her head out of her ass long enough to realize somethings wrong, and Bo/Lauren happening in the short-run while the Norn's spell is still on Dyson, but so far I'm not convinced Lauren's a long-term contender (and from some of the expressions on Lauren's face I don't think she thinks she is either).

....while your post makes me have a general negative outlook on the potential of this episode, I kind of wanna see it anyways for Lauren (because honestly, my love for Dr. Hotpants knows no bounds).

With that said, I really am disappointed in how it appears they're going with this, coupled with Bo all trying to get Dyson back in the season opener. It's moments like that which make me realize how I don't actually like Bo's character that much, in the fact that the girl can be kinda/sorta/really stupid.

Has a download link been spotted anywhere?

It's not a bad episode. I was entertained enough by most of it. The endless Bo/Dyson epicness bugged, but the episode wasn't terrible.

It's moments like that which make me realize how I don't actually like Bo's character that much, in the fact that the girl can be kinda/sorta/really stupid.

Oh, I feel ya here. Bo has her moments of being smart and awesome, and then the writers give her lines like, "Never underestimate the power of a desperate woman!" and I just want to smack her.

Her relationship with Dyson defines her right now, and that's really not a great position of a main character to be in.

*headdesk*

See, this is why I should never go "oooo, new show, looks fun!" 'Cause while there's a million things to like in Lost Girl - Kenzi (just...Kenzi), the Fae politics, the believable powers, interesting backstories - Bo's mooning over Dyson just overshadows the potential and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It's not even just Lost Girl; Warehouse 13 did it with Myka/Helena, and now even the het shows like Haven are jumping on the FailTrain. Why, WHY do producers have to tease us with the sparks of these awesome ideas, and then dump ten tons of crap on top?!?

Was it just me or didn't Bo promise Lauren a "talk" at the end of season 1? The way Lauren left it, it looked like it would have been something that should definitely have gotten some screen time. Did I miss it somewhere? I'm finding that the utter lack of Bo/Lauren interactions this season seems really off. Like, it doesn't make any sense to me that Bo would be SO FULL of fire mad at Lauren for so long and then just tadaa!! they're back to tepid aquaintances. It seems forced. I dunno, but it's damn frustrating.

Personally, I'm hoping that it turns out they had the talk during Dyson's dissapearance and there will be an epic flashback of win once Bo pulls her head out her ass. I'm also hoping that the showrunners don't pull a Whedon and kill Lauren, then have Bo be all angsty as she recollects their sentimental talking of drama and tragedy and make viewers bawl crocodile tears.

That's really my major hope for this season, Lauren surviving. And Kenzi. Always have the priorities straight. Bo can go to hell (no not really, just saying it for drama,) so long as Kenzi and Lauren survive. Actually, now that I think about it, Kenzi and Lauren would probably be able to get her out of Hell should Bo become majorly trapped in it. Ooh, fic ideas.

Anyways: the main thing I really got from the season premiere is that they already have had the talk and they're getting over their issues and sticking in the platonic 'friend zone' until issues have been dealt with. That's my take, at least. Hence the fears of Joss'n the whole romance shebang like it's no tomorrow and offing the good doc. (That would hurt like lotsies.)

I thought the whole Norn-took-passion-away thing would be the major cockblocker of the century but...sigh.

Yeah I think Lauren appeared for less than 3 minutes this episode. Shame on you creators for not realizing the full potential of utilizing Dr.Hotpants.

I just don't get Bo's character sometimes. It's like Bella in Twilight. God. Stop moaning continuously about one guy when there's a really hot woman that likes you.

Hey 22 episode season so...anything could happen.

They've got a poll on the showcase site asking about Bo/Lauren, they've previously done a BO/Dyson one. From the results so far, I think they're really barking up the wrong tree by constantly pushing wolfboy at us.

Wow talk about getting sick over love. I am sooo hating on the 'i wuv wuv Dyson soooo much' garbage I just about threw my TV out the window. That was pathetic and I really hope that we don't get this all season of Bo moping around about Dyson.I want more of Bo fooling around and having sexy fun, not mopey Bo mooning over Dyson all season.

Love Triangle? Where was it or is it even being contemplated anymore? It's so easy to see Bo will use Lauren until she has Dyson back and then drop her like a lead ball in a river. It would be so much better if Lauren got her own girl friend or boyfriend and forgot about Bo. And what about Lauren and the ASH situation. It's like Bo warned her and then forgot all about her, no waring a new ASH was made, nadda. And why put Zoie Palmer in the main credits if all she's going to get in these eps is 2 to 3 min cameo's?

As for the political side, I like how the light side and dark side of the Fae was finally explained. Simply put Light Fae are like ground coffee, ritually done in ceremony, savoring every last drop of human they can get and politely throwing them away when done. Dark Fae are instant junk, and will litter the earth with their human prey. They gulp it down and get it out of the way. LOL no wonder Bo doesn't want to join up.

So I was confused at the end there, I thought the Blackthorn was vying for the ASH title, but it turns out to be someone else entirely? All the big guy was , was a council member announcer? And I thought the high council was blown to bits? Not to mention that Trick's ID isn't well known among the Fae there or the council? I was under the impression everyone knew who he was.

God Bo was annoyingly desperate in this episode. Did i miss the part where bo/dyson became an epic romance? The stag part of the episode was so heavy handed - true love conquers all even if it takes a lifetime, so don't worry about bo/dyson. Yuck!

Jeez lauren really gets shafted in this love triangle its hard to compete with 3 minutes vs - 'wolves mate for life' 'i gave that love to you'. Could the endgame sign be any bigger?
Actually if the norn had taken Dyson's feelings away...why does he care so much? He feels absolutely nothing towards Bo, so why is he risking his life to help her? Letting her kiss him? Its bad writing but i like them more when they are apart. Together they are gross and annoying.
However, Lauren for her unbearably short screen time was awesome. Saving the stags life snapping the arrow - you go girl! Though she probably should have taken the leather jacket off the stag first before she got stabby.

I think we are leading up to lauren being in danger. We saw how scared she was when Bo told her about the new ash. Having the new ash actually be elected puts her in a much more interesting position. He looks like a tool as well so that should be good.

I managed to find myself addicted to this show last season. Of course I live in the US, so actually watching the show was a challenge in and of itself.

I want to have faith in Bo/Lauren as a couple. Really I do. Honestly, I'd rather see the two of them together than Bo/Dyson.

Maybe I'm a pessimist, I just kind of figured Bo/Lauren would never happen in the way I want it to. I've yet to watch any of season 2. I want to, but I'm waiting to find the episodes online. Sometimes living in the US sucks. I know the show is being picked up by Syfy, but I'll be old and gray before the episodes air.

Rambling aside, while I would have loved to see their relationship actually go somewhere, I'm really not all that surprised that it's well, not.

Well Kenzi is still the cat's pajamas-

-Boohoo Sir Gutless of Knobsberg!

-Do you want me to beat the snot out of him?

she is the awesome sauce of the show and the one reason why I'll stay to see if Dr. McHottyPants gets her chance at the newly single succubus. Maybe the writers threw that Norn thing at us to see if they can squeeze a relationship between Bo and Lauren passed everyone before getting Bo back with Dyson. My fangirl heart wishes Bo/Lauren were endgame but reality and it's ugly head say Dyson for the win. uuurgh.

But you are right. She is a succubus. She should be having waaaay more fun than she is. Like the episode where she left the bar with that hot couple and banged the heck out of both of them. Now that was real succubus-y? succubus-tastic? If it were me I would spend a couple of episodes leaving a trail of hot bodies behind me trying to "forget!" lol Then I would realize how empty the hot bodies left me and go looking for Dr. Lauren and beg her to be my girl.

p.s. I will second it, boobs are not a plan Bo.

p.s.s. oh no! due to all the other fangirling (warehouse 13, LotS and oh so much more) I'm all out of Lost Girl icons! Damn!

woh .. huh .. season 2 is already on? And I didn't know? How the hell did THAT happen?

I'm not reading your post yet until I catch up to stay spoiler free.

Your lack of a episode summary last week had me thinking you did quit the series.

I didn't watch the episode fully, but I didn't catch the ending and OMG the Bo/Dyson relationship has reached the pinnacle of cringe worthy.

Didn't the creators say Lauren was suppose to have an ex-lover show up in this season? Where is she? And I swear if she does show up, it better not be a) a psycho who puts Laurens life in danger or b) a guy.

Also heard ET Canada did a interview on this show where they revealed the Morrigan is returning and posing as a music producer. Where the hell are these storylines? I would love to watch them instead of seeing more of that "triangle" *shudder*.

I was rushing to get this downloaded but now I'm all 'blah' about it. I can't stand the thought of having to sit through even more Bo/Dyson true love bull; it would have been tolerable if the writers had done a decent job creating the relationship, but Castle/Beckett they are not, and both characters just come off as intensely annoying when they're together (actually, they're both pretty annoying when apart, too).

I had high hopes when they made Zoie Palmer a regular but now I'm reminded of how they f'ed over her character in the first season and those hopes have started to fade.

If the writers have no intention of making Bo/Lauren happen, couldn't they at least give Lauren a smokin' hot love interest of her own? Hell, I'm still rooting for the Dr. Hotpants spinoff.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but after ep2 I've actually gotten a tiny little bit optimistic about Lauren's storyline. I don't know about the triangle (don't see it and don't care for it), but it certainly looks like they're trying to set up Lauren's back stories, which hopefully will lead to explanation of her connection with the Ash and Light Faes. Personally, that's more interesting than the inevitable will-they-won't-they never-ending tease (they probably won't, b/c c'mon I'm not THAT optimistic).

So yeah, I guess I actually quite like the new season so far. But then I did cheat by skipping all the Dyson parts (whoops), which probably makes my judging meter fairly off.

Okay, show. You've convinced me. You really don't give a shit about Lauren as a character.

This is what I feel terribly. In my mind, it's like TPTB are going, "Look! This totally unimportant plot-device character is really popular! Let's keep her around ~for the drama." And I'm left fanraging into my pillow.

Terrible relationship. Just terrible.

I do enjoy Hale, Kenzi, and Trick. I like Dyson when he's doing useful things like getting all wolf over the wine glass and saving Hale (I like to pretend that Dyson and Hale are a really chic gay couple). I empathized with Kenzi a lot as she moaned and groaned about being dragged around on Bo's escapades.
