Almost the Throne of Wrong

fembuckSo, viewing "Alias" was like #1 on my list of things to do when I got back. And considering I didn't get in until after midnight, it meant that I had to view it in fragments, but I finally did. And prognosis = excellent
So I had lots'o'apprehensions about this episode after viewing the 'oh so wrong' promo for it the week before. The Sydrina shot in the kitchen sending me (and I think pretty much everyone who watched the trailer) into convulsions of "ewwwww".
So, I have to say after viewing the ep. I was pleased with the relative lack of ick between Syd and Jack in the kitchen scence. It was actually really sweet and moving seeing Syd have an unfettered view of how her father really felt about her, and how deeply Irina betrayed Jack. Still, my enjoyment of the scene was hampered by the overwhelming fear that Jack was dart in to kiss his "wife" goodbye. (Also, Vaughn with the sniper comment, so.not.funny. That was a comment of Uncle Inappropriate creepiness. Though I will admit I found Vaughn's bunker comment funny.)
On to my girls though, this ep. was nice for good 'cesty interactions between Syd and Nadia. There weren't many scenes with just the two of them, but what we got was good. Oh, so much emotion. They love each other so very much. And Nadia's teary gaze and longing hand on the shoulder move, was so much more loving and supportive than anything Vaughn managed to come up with.
Would've liked to see Nadia's reaction to the fauxback with Syd and Jack though, especially to Jack's comment about "Laura's" feelings about Sloane. I mean it's gotta mess with a person to know that they were the product of Hate/OrderedByTheKGB sex. Plus, anything that allows for close-ups of Mia is all good ;)
Also, it was nice to see some humor from Nadia with her "tall" comment. That cracked me up, especially because she seemed so pleased with herself. That bit with Yelena holding her gun while Weiss nattered on about empanada's, shooting him sideways looks like she'd kill him just to shut me up also slayed me. Sonia and Greg were awesome in that seen. I haven't heard "Saffron" uttered with such annoyance since the end of "Firefly".
Won't comment too much on the 'dumbing' this ep. The necklace I can overlook, I mean obviously it's not tripping any alarms, so why would she be suspicious. But brining home your top secret government laptop every night, which has a surprising lack of security on it for a superspy. She's still pretty though, ridiculously pretty ... and funny.
Also, completely didn't call Dr. Lenny being a hallucination. Finding that out was an awesome reveal, and much more surprising than the Yelena one.
Overall, really good episode. Can't wait for next week, though that's not much of a surprise!
