OMG! I just saw "D.E.B.S." on the weekend, and it just may be the greatest love story ever told! I loved this movie so much, I've watched it at least 3 times since the initial viewing (ohhh, glorious DVD)!
Longer (fangirl squeeing) review coming later ... but I had to share the D.E.B.S. love a.s.a.p!

Date: 2005-06-20 10:25 pm (UTC)Truer words have never been spoken. It wasn't just the excellently executed romance, but the whole campy tone of the movie cracked me up. The transporting was a bit stupid, but the whole "Not Amy, Amy" Lucy sneaking into the D.E.B.S compound to The Cure's "Love Cats" with Jordana's little hops and the Batman (Adam West Version) suction cups, cracked me up! The montage, the "I've got the girl" reactions shots, Devon Aoki (pretty much everything she said in that French accent), cheesy, camp goodness.
I'm such a D.E.B.S junkie at the moment, and I'm searching for a fix!
The girls have incredible chemistry
Word. From the moment they first pop up on screen the chemistry is scorching. And to think I had been worried about the casting of Jordana Brewster! She was brilliant as Lucy (*sigh* so dreamy) Chemistry is this sort of undefinable thing, but these two had it in spades. I think it's some of the best chemistry I've seen on screen.
And are gorgeouslyadorable, of course XD
Of course. That was another thing that I loved about this movie, they were just so cute and sweet together. It wasn't just sexpot, lesbian chic hotness. I think one of my favorite shots in the whole movie was from the montage scene when Lucy is sitting on the hood of the car and Amy is leaning against her in between her legs and Lucy say something that makes her laugh. Awwwww, there are not words for the preciousness *hugs and kisses*
I haven't bought the DVD yet, but I'm tempted. Mmmmm, cast commentary... : )
Yeah, me too! I liked the cast commentary. The hair talk got a bit old, but I liked how they genuinely seemed to like each other, and Sara Foster cracked me up with her inqueries about whether or not she was wearing a bra in a particular scene! Also I never tire of hearing chicks say other chicks are hot (and there's plenty of that as well!) Plus, the deleted scenes, of course :D

Date: 2005-06-20 10:39 pm (UTC)The basic plot outline for "D.E.B.S." is as follow:Hidden within the S.A.T. is a secret test that studies not a girl's reading or mathematics skill, but her potential to perform duties within the realm of espionage, like deception, physical combat and if needed, murder. Those who score high enough on this secret scale are recruited to join a secret academy where they will be trained to become spies in a paramilitary group they call... D.E.B.S. This film focuses on four of these plaid skirted debutantes as they're recruited and engage in their first mission, which is an effort to rescue one of their cohorts who has been kidnapped by the D.E.B.S. nemesis who calls herself Lucy in the Sky... (from IMBD)
But despite the espionage description, the movie is really a romantic comedy. It's awesomely funny, and the two leads Jordana Brewster and Sara Foster have some of the most amazing chemistry I've ever seen on screen, which makes the Lucy/Amy relationship a pleasure to watch unfold.
I highly recommend it, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

I think you'll enjoy it. And we're always happy to have another member of the D.E.B.S. fold ;)

Your Amy/Lucy banners are awesome. Are people allowed to take them? I'd like to take one to use on my profile.
(If you reply in any way to this comment, I may not be able to reply to anything you say for at least a week. I'm not being standoffish, it's just that I don't have the Internet at home. I'm actually writing from a university library.)
Hope we can be friends. :)
