Summary: How the Viola/Sebastian romance with Olivia should have played out!

****************************************

Fundraiser Carnival

Viola sighed contently as she brushed her wig with her fingers making sure that her Sebastian disguise was in perfect condition. Her outfits had taken quite a beating with her constant changing in really, really awkward places at the carnival, and she’d nearly ruined her dress during Justin and Duke’s fight, but she managed to come out of it relatively unscathed. Plus, dirt on a man was manly, and manly was something that she was constantly in search of as ‘Sebastian’.

Letting her hand fall back to her side she let her mind drift back to her encounter with Duke at the kissing booth, before her cataclysmically annoying ex had shown up to interrupted the moment. Kissing Duke had definitely been alright. Certainly it was infinitely better than kissing Justin for the first time she thought with a smirk. It hadn’t quite been the fireworks that she was hoping for and had dreamed of, but Duke’s technique definitely got a passing grade and when she was finished working on him, well … her smile widened.

Sticking her hands into her pockets, Viola thought to herself that kissing just seemed to be something that came more naturally to female of the species. Still, she didn’t really mind putting in the practice to elevate the boys to her level.

“Sebastian!”

Viola stopped walking and turned on her heel. It was funny, it had only been eight days since she had moved to Illyria Prep, but she could already pick Olivia’s voice out of a crowd.

“Hey, wuz up?” Viola asked slipping into her Sebastian voice. She was finding it easier and easier to stay in character as time went on, which was an immense relief.

“Nothing,” Olivia breathed out placing a hand over her heart as she stopped next to Sebastian. Running in high heels on a wet ground was more work than she had anticipated, but as she looked up to see Sebastian smiling at her she knew that the jog had been more than worth it. “The carnival has been … fun?” she continued as they began to walk at a leisurely pace.

“That sounded convincing,” Viola commented dubiously looking over at the blonde beside her. She had some idea why Olivia sounded less than enthusiastic about the carnival after the warning the blonde had given her when she’d relieved her at the kissing booth, but since she was Viola then and not Sebastian she had to play dumb. “Is everything alright?”

“Really, it’s nothing too bad,” Olivia sighed shaking her head slightly her heart beat picking up slightly as Sebastian’s soft voiced concern. “It’s just kissing booth trauma.”

“Was it really that bad?” Viola asked turning to look at the blonde. She hadn’t found the kissing booth that bad, of course she’d only gotten to kiss one boy before the fight broke out, and since it was Duke she was really, really alright with that.

“Well…yeah,” Olivia responded letting out a little laugh as she turned her head to look at Sebastian’s sympathetic face. “Actually it was pretty horrific. There was this one old guy that looked like he was chewing gum, but it really, really wasn’t gum,” she continued shuddering slightly, swaying slightly to the side as Sebastian put his arm around her and patted her shoulder comfortingly.

“Well, the important thing is that you survived. You know what they say, that which doesn’t kill us,” Viola began as she patted Olivia’s shoulder comfortingly, blinking as she felt the blonde lean into her body. It made her feel kind of powerful, but also protective of the other girl, and she wondered if this was why guys were always trying to put their arms around girls. It kind of made her feel like Olivia was hers or something. The caveman-ish thought of possession was kind of disturbing, but the feeling was disturbingly intoxicating.

“Requires us to rinse and repeat with Scope for the rest of the night,” Olivia interrupted laughing slightly causing Viola to realize that she’d had her arm around Olivia for quite some time. “And maybe tomorrow,” Olivia continued trying to keep the disappointment out of her voice as Sebastian withdrew his arm from around her.

“Better safe than sorry,” Viola responded a bit awkwardly shoving the hand that had been on Olivia a moment before into her pocket. Her patting had turned, unbeknownst to her, into a kind of caress as they had walked and when she had realized what she was doing it had freaked her out a little bit. Everything had just felt a little too realistic for comfort for a moment.

“So,” Olivia began desperate to keep the conversation going so they could walk together for a bit longer. She could tell that the extended embrace they had just shared at startled him and she didn’t want him feeling awkward and making an excuse to leave to in the silence. This was the longest she had talked to Sebastian out of class and she wanted to enjoy it for as long as possible. “How have you been enjoying the carnival?”

“Oh, you know, it’s been alright,” Viola responded glad for the change of the subject. “I went on The Spinner. It was really … spin-y,” she continued lamely her voice squeaking as she spoke. She had a desperate urge to pull at the neck of her shirt but settled for clearing her throat. “I almost had my fortune told, but after Eunice made a seven year cry I decided the future is better left unknown,” she went on her eyes widening as she thought back on it. Thinking about what a, uh, unique individual Eunice was helped to get her spazzing under control.

“She didn’t,” Olivia exclaimed trying not to grin. She’d heard Sebastian’s voice crack with nervously and thought that it was like one of the most adorable things she’d ever been witness to. She didn’t want to make him self-conscience however so she covered her urge to smile dotingly with a scandalized expression in response to what Eunice had done.

“Oh yeah. Apparently a great darkness is looming in the near future,” Viola continued amused by Olivia’s horrified expression. “The kids mom didn’t look too happy, I think Eunice might be relegated to cotton candy booth next year.”

“Well, somebody has to think of the children,” Olivia responded, her smile turning into a grin when Sebastian looked over at her and smiled. God she was falling for him hard. She was smitten. She was deep in the smit and she was okay with that. It was just how could she not totally fall deep into like with a guy that was so sweet, and adorable, and thoughtful? Sure, he wasn’t the manliest of men, but she’d never really been big on muscles and the ability to crush cans of beer on one’s forehead.

“Somebody sure needs to,” Viola responded brushing at her hair as she snuck a look over at Olivia to find her grinning happily at her. “The planning committee of this carnival certainly isn’t.” She continued looking away as she inexplicably found herself starting to blush. “I mean, have you seen the Airplane ride?”

“Scary?” Olivia asked her eyes on Sebastian’s hand as he pulled it out of his pocket to adjust the buckle of his belt. He had such nice hands, they were so … delicate. They weren’t rough or dirty like most guys, they were smooth and flawless almost like a girls. She’d brushed his fingers before in class, but they’d both been wearing latex gloves at the time, and she wondered if they’d be as soft as they looked.

“Very,” Viola responded shuddering a little, the movement turning into a shiver as she felt Olivia’s hand brush against hers.

“Well,” Olivia began hoping that her heartbeat wasn’t audible because it felt like it was triple hammering in her chest. “The Airplane ride is this way, so we better go over here,” she continued nonchalantly – she hoped – slipping her fingers between Sebastian’s and tugging slightly leading him to the left. “I’ve suffered enough trauma for one day. I don’t know if I can take any of the Airplane variety. Especially if it involves children.”

“Oh, I don’t, yeah, no, well okay…sorry?” Viola sputtered as she fell into step next to Olivia her fingers intertwined with the blonde’s. She’d been so shocked by the blonde’s move that she had no idea what was coming out of her mouth as her eyes fell down to look at their joined appendages.

“Come on,” Olivia encouraged forcing her voice to remain steady and chipper. She had felt Sebastian tense slightly when she first took his hand, but he hadn’t pulled away as they started walking which she was going to interpret as a positive sign. “I saw the Bean Bag Toss game back this way earlier on,” she continued looking over in time to catch Sebastian glance down at the their hands with a befuddled look on his face before looking back up and over at her again. “You can win me a stuffed animal or something.”

“I’m really better at kicking things,” Viola managed to choke out focusing on Olivia’s smiling face rather than their joined hands. The blonde had kind eyes and looking at them kind of calmed her down a bit. Well, a least it didn’t inspire panic in her like looking at their hands did. “I kind of throw like a girl.”

“Okay,” Olivia said laughing. That was what she liked about Sebastian, he wasn’t afraid to just be himself. So many guys were always posturing, pretending to be such big men like nothing ever got to them, but Sebastian was so real. “Maybe I’ll win you a stuffed animal or something.”

“I like lions,” Viola responded allowing herself to just relax. Olivia was holding her hand, it was no big deal. Girls held hands all the time without it being some big deal. Besides after having to be so careful in the locker room, dorms and field about anybody getting close to her in case they accidentally touched a body part that would give her away, it was nice to have some sort of physical contact with someone. It was nice holding Olivia’s hand and that was no big deal.

“And tigers?” Olivia asked feeling Sebastian relax and shift his fingers to that their hands rested more comfortably together. “You know in case they don’t have any lions.”

“Mm,” Viola responded nodding, smiling despite herself at their stupidity at finding their current conversation amusing. “And bears.”

“Oh my,” Olivia exclaimed struggling to hold in her laughter. “Those are all very fierce creatures.”

“That’s how I like my stuffed animals,” Viola responded straightening her back and deepening her voice. “They’ve got to be manly and vicious. My stuffed animals totally rule the animal kingdom.”

“All other stuffed animals bow down,” Olivia intoned gravely though she was grinning widely as she spoke.

“You know it,” Viola responded thumping her chest with her free fist twice, before smirking at Olivia. “My crew is not to be messed with.”

Illyria Prep, Work Out Room

Viola looked down as her eyes caught Olivia’s as the blonde walked into the weight room. Looking down Viola began to fiddle with the weights she had absolutely no intention of even trying to lift, ignoring the blonde’s wave. She knew that it was kind of rude to pretend that she didn’t see the girl, but since the carnival she’d felt kind of awkward around her and really didn’t want to have to deal with all of that at the moment. So rude was going to have to be the flavor of the day.

Olivia sighed as Sebastian looked away from her without so much as even giving her a nod. He’d avoided her all of the previous day, and had only spoken to her in class to find out what part of the frog they needed to slice and dice next and to talk about what a great guy that meathead Duke Orsino was. It was infuriating, and hurtful, and she had absolutely no idea what to do about the situation. As egotistical as it sounded, even in her own head, she had always done the rejecting. She had always been the pursued not the pursuer and she had absolutely no idea how to deal with a guy not falling all over her.

“He’s so cute,” she sighed as Elizabeth sidled up beside the stair machine she was on. They’d had such a good time at the Carnival, they’d held hands all the way to the Bean Bag Toss, and when Sebastian had proved himself an honest man and not hit a single target she’d stepped in and won him a manly panther toy. They’d then gone to the dunking booth, whack a mole, the candy apple booth, and the ring toss all hand-in-hand. She’d had a good time, and he’d had a good time. They had clicked she was sure of it, but now he was acting like they were barely acquaintances.

“Duke? Yeah he’s amazing,” Elizabeth agreed staring dreamily over to where Duke was lifting weights, his manly muscles glistening with sweat.

“No, Sebastian,” Olivia replied staring over at where Sebastian lay fiddling with the strings of his hoodie. Red was a great colour on him. “He’s not like any guy I’ve ever met before. He’s so sweet, and cute,” she continued sighing. “But he says I’m not his type.”

“You’re everyone’s type,” Elizabeth responded, here eyebrows coming together in confusion. A guy would have to be completely Brokeback for Olivia not to be his type, and the whole school knew about Sebastian’s exploits with the opposite sex. “But I’ll tell you what us mere mortals would do in a situation like this,” she continued figuring that there had to be a first time for everything.

“What?” Olivia asked choosing to ignore the ‘mere mortals’ part of the comment and concentrate on the ‘helping her get Sebastian to kiss her’ part.

“Make him jealous,” Elizabeth said smiling knowingly as she looked over at Elizabeth. “He’ll step up if he thinks he’s going to lose you to another guy.”

“You think?” Olivia asked hopefully.

“I know.”

Viola found her eyes drifting from Duke’s chiseled features over to Olivia once more. She could feel the blonde’s eyes on her, and despite the perfect opportunity to Duke gaze that she’d been given she found herself looking over at the girl quite a few times - more times than she was comfortable with actually. It was highly annoying if she were to be hones. She was supposed to be Man Gazing not staring at her lab partner.

Noticing Duke turn towards her, Viola lifted her hands to bar above her and pretended to be bracing herself to lift. However, before she could embarrass or kill herself, Duke asked her how her sister was doing, and she sighed with relief. This was actually what she had been waiting for an opportunity to talk about since the carnival … herself.

Shifting to sit up so that she was no longer in danger of the bar bell falling on her and killing her, she wasted no time telling Duke what a great gal Viola was, and when he admitted that he was considering calling her up, she immediately offered to give him her phone number and assured him that he had his support on the courting his sister thing 110%. However, as Viola about to give him her phone number so that they could enjoy a romantic candle lit dinner and share deep soul-searing gazes over bread sticks, Olivia suddenly appeared at their side.

“Hey, Duke,” Olivia greeted sparing a split second glace at Sebastian. “Sebastian,” she added politely before turning her attention back to Duke. “How much were you lifting? That looks really heavy,” she cooed sounding terribly impressed.

“A-a-around, you know, like 150,” Duke stammered while trying to sound cool, crossing and un-crossing his arms in an attempt to look nonchalant.

“So, back to that thing we were discussing,” Viola interrupted, trying to get Duke’s mind back on … well her.

“Hold on, hold on,” Duke muttered not even glancing her way. His eyes were trained on Olivia as she brushed her bangs out of her face and smiled at him sweetly.

“How many times could you bench press me?” Olivia asked innocently, covertly watching Sebastian as he squirmed beside Duke.

“About that number,” Viola said trying again popping in front of Duke. “If you call now you should be able to …” but before she could finish her sentence Duke’s hand was palming her face pushing her out of the way so that he could gaze at Olivia unobstructed and she was stumbling backwards barely managing to avoid tripping over her own feet.

Viola backed away feeling confounded by the whole situation as she wiped at her face to get Duke’s palm sweat off of her. Not only had he just pushed Sebastian out of the way, she could Viola’s opportunity with Duke sliding away as well as Olivia demurely giggled. It didn’t make any sense. She knew that Olivia didn’t like Duke. Even after all of her pimping of him to her she had only ever seemed mildly interested at most. But now she was all over him like white on rice.

“Stupid,” Viola muttered slapping herself in the head. She’d done too good a job, she’d talked Duke up to much, and now Olivia had seen in him what she’d seen. “Gahhh,” she moaned moving a place in the room where she could observe them undetected. Sometimes she was too brilliant for her own good.

Sighing, she realized that she needed to find a way to separate them a.s.a.p., or else she would stand no chance. Duke had barely gotten a chance to know her at the carnival, but he’d known Olivia for years. And if he actually manned up enough to talk to her, which he seemed to be managing at the moment even if he was a bit bumbling, he’d find out that she was sweet, and smart, and had a terrific dry sense of humor, and smelled really good, and was kind, and had the softest hands, and he would never call Viola. Yes, she had to do something and right away.

Knowing that it was messing with the plausibility timeline, but not really caring Viola whipped out her cell phone. Checking to make sure that nobody was close enough to her to hear her slip out of her Sebastian voice, she called Duke’s cell phone.

“Hi,” she said in a chipper voice. “It’s Viola, my brother said you wanted to talk. But let me just say I’d love …”

“Whaaaaa?” Duke said barely aware that he was even talking on the phone. Viola groaned internally as she watched Olivia run a finger over Duke’s bicep. She knew the power of those fingers, Olivia had taken to stroking her hand has they had walked the carnival together and even though she hadn’t wanted it to, it had made her shake, kind of like Duke was doing as she watched.

“…love to go to dinner with you,” Viola continued though she was aware that she was fighting a losing battle as she spoke.

“Yeah, uh, can I call you back?” Duke asked and then flipped his cell shut before she could reply. Olivia’s hand was on his shoulder and she was whispering something in his ear. Viola sighed, it was over. Olivia had whispered in her ear as they moved through the carnival. It’d felt special when she’d done it, intimate like they were the only two people in the world when it happened … and now she was whispering to Duke.

“So, I’ll see you at Caesar’s, eight o’clock,” Olivia was saying as Viola made her way back over to them.

“Yeah,” Duke replied dreamily as she began to walk away, spinning on her heels once to wave at them before continuing out of the gym. When she was safely out of sight, Duke broke into the world’s dorkiest victory dance, but Viola was only vaguely aware of it as she stared at the door Olivia had exited from, a sense of impending doom falling all around her.

Debutantes Dress Rehearsal

Viola tore angrily into a piece of chicken, chewing without regard, completely missing Daphne’s whispered “chew like your telling a secret, dear,” as she stared across the room, her eyes on Olivia. It seemed to her like her eyes were always on Olivia and it was really starting to piss her off. Unaware of the aghast looks of the other debs at her table, she tore off another piece of chicken, her eyes narrowing as Olivia laughed sweetly at something one of her table mates had said.

She’d chased Olivia down the day before after the encounter at the gym to try and talk her out of going out with Duke. She’d told her that’d she’d rethought the situation and that as a third party observer with absolutely no stakes in the entire situation that she didn’t think they were compatible with each other. But Olivia had held strong, telling her that she thought Sebastian was right about Duke and that he had layers she hadn’t seen before. She’d stood there dumbfounded staring at Olivia for a moment, and while she was having her minor mental breakdown Olivia had somehow managed to invite her to double date with them and roped Eunice in as a date for her.

To say that it was the double date from hell would have been an understatement of epic proportions. Duke was barely able to string two words together, Olivia was either staring at her with an uncomfortable intensity or kissing Duke’s neck, earlobe or any piece of skin available to her hoe lips, and Eunice, encouraged it seemed by the PDAs, began to attempt a make-out session with her that she was forced to not so subtlety reject.

However, it wasn’t until Olivia finally made her way to Duke’s lips that Viola had been overcome with the need to bolt. She’d been watching Olivia’s lips almost since they sat down caught somewhere between horror and fascination as she’d shamelessly kissed up Duke, but it was only when she’d watched those soft, pillow-y lips moving against Duke’s delicately but with purpose and skill that something curious had happened. For a moment, just a moment, her mind had drifted away from her and she had seen herself on the other side of the table as a participant in the lip lock. But that wasn’t what was curious. The curious part was that she hadn’t take Olivia’s place in the kiss as she had expected, she had taken Duke’s. And for a brief moment, seconds at most, she’d had a vision of herself kissing Olivia and it had sent a curious tingle through her body that left her completely unnerved. She’d popped out of the booth the moment she’d come back to herself, and muttering some lame excuse about having to shave had made a quick exit.

She’d spent the whole walk back to the dorms trying to figure out what the hell it all meant. She knew what the obvious interpretation was, but she was sure that wasn’t it. She liked Duke not Olivia. She liked boys not girls. She was into her roommate not her lab partner. The thought of Olivia touching her did not make her tremble. She had not gotten more of a thrill from Olivia whispering in her ear than she did from kissing Duke at the carnival. She was not jealous of Duke.

And if she was it was Olivia’s fault.

That was the conclusion that she had reached by the time she made it back to her room. Everything had started to go wrong at the carnival when Olivia had taken her hand. It was then that the blonde had started to outright flirt with her, it was then that the blonde had embarked upon a campaign of casual touchery designed to weaken her defenses and make Sebastian fall madly in love with her. Olivia was the most beautiful girl in the school, there had been a poll, eighty percent of the student body had voted that she was nearly perfect, and she had set her sights on Sebastian. How was she supposed to resist Olivia’s goddess like attention and subtle attempts at seduction? If the blonde had just kept her damn, dirty hoe hands to herself, Viola would never have entertained thoughts about what those hands would feel like on other parts of her body. Yes, it was entirely Olivia’s fault, and she wasn’t going to stand for it anymore.

Viola dropped her chicken bone noisily onto her plate watching as Olivia got up and made her way towards the washroom. This was her opportunity. The situation was ridiculous and she needed to put a stop to it. The only reason that Olivia was hitting on her was because she thought she was a guy, which she completely wasn’t, and though it was a risky move she had to risk telling Olivia the truth before they embarrassed themselves further. It was the right thing to do, and the only thing she could think of that would return the natural order of things.

Viola took a deep breath, smoothed her dress and stalked towards the mirrors where Olivia was reapplying some lip gloss.

“Hey,” she greeted casually.

“Hi,” Olivia responded glancing over at her and then doing a double take. “Hey, you’re the girl that saved me from the kissing booth at the carnival.”

“Guilty as charged,” Viola responded as Olivia smiled. “It was my pleasure.”

“Trust me, the pleasure was all mine,” Olivia replied running a hand through her hair. “I’m Olivia, by the way,” she continued extending her hand a moment later.

“Viola,” Viola responded reaching out and taking the blonde’s hand.

“Oh my god, you’re Sebastian’s sister,” Olivia said upon hearing the name, squinting and ducking her head forward to get a better look at Viola. “No wonder you seemed familiar at the carnival.”

“Yeah,” Viola replied uncomfortably shifting her feet a little. She really wished that Olivia would stop mentioning the carnival. It was a source of great distress for her. “Ah …”

Olivia observed Viola’s awkwardness wondering what had caused it when a thought came to her causing her to squeeze her eyes shut for a moment. “He told you, didn’t he?” she asked looking away from Viola, pink tinting her cheeks as she stared into the mirror.

“Who did what now?” Viola asked genuinely thrown by the question. She’d been contemplating how in the hell one went about telling the girl that was crushing on one that one was a girl when Olivia had spoken.

“Sebastian. He told you that I like him, didn’t he?” Olivia asked sounding dejected and embarrassed.

“I thought you were going out with Duke Orsino,” Viola replied though she wasn’t sure why. It would have helped her cause to admit that she knew that Olivia liked Sebastian and then branch into telling her that she knew because she was Sebastian. But that’s not what she did, because she thought to herself, ‘I’m a moron’.

“One date,” Olivia responded. “And I only did it to make Sebastian jealous.”

“Seriously?” Viola asked unable to keep some of the surprise out of her voice. She supposed she should have seen that one coming, but she was too deeply involved in the situation to think about it critically. It did explain Olivia’s 180 on her feelings about Duke however.

“I know, it sounds horrible. Duke’s a good guy, and I don’t want to hurt him. It’s just that I really, really like Sebastian and Liz said that …” Olivia trailed off for a moment covering her face with her hand. “I’m a horrible person.”

“You’re not a horrible person,” Viola responded immediately, automatically reaching out to touch the blonde’s shoulder and regretting the comforting motion immediately as her palm began to burn where it was connected to Olivia’s skin. The last thing she needed right now was bare skin on bare skin contact.

“Yeah,” Olivia said snorting darkly. “I’m so great, that’s why your brother won’t give me the time of day.”

“I’m sure that’s not it,” Viola started finding herself moving closer to Olivia even though she had determined seconds ago that contact was bad. “Sebastian,” she started to say.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be talking to you this way,” Olivia interrupted. “We’ve only just met … and he’s your brother. I don’t know why I … he’s just not like any other guy I’ve met you know. He’s so sweet, and funny, and unpretentious and handsome. In a cute way you know, not all smarmy, just really sweet. And we actually talked, and had fun just being around each other, I guess I just … really like him,” she finished her head falling so that she was looking at the floor as another blush came to her face.

“He … likes you too,” Viola responded looking at Olivia intensely, not that the blonde could see. “He’s just … scared,” she continued slowly, her hand still resting on Olivia’s shoulder as she spoke, her thumb tracing the smooth skin underneath it as she finally acknowledged the truth of her words. Sebastian did like Olivia, she Viola liked Olivia. She didn’t know why or how it had happened or how she felt about it happening, but it had happened. She had liked holding hands with the other girl and acting like her date. She had liked being whispered to by her, and seeing her smile at her. She liked it all, and that was something she was going to have to deal with, but it didn’t really matter because Olivia thought she was Sebastian. She might have been falling for a girl, but as far as Olivia knew she was falling for a guy, which meant that Viola was shit out of luck. Not that she was entirely certainly she wanted to get lucky anyway.

“I am too,” Olivia replied before Viola could say more. “But I think maybe that’s alright now, and I know what to do.”

“What’s that?” Viola asked wanting to kick her own ass for asking instead of plowing along with the truth train, but unable to stop herself.

“Make a move.”

Viola opened her mouth to respond, however before she could get anything out, Monique – her brother’s real girlfriend – emerged from a washroom stall to confront Olivia about making a move on her man, and all hell broke loose. Hair pulling, arms to the solar plexus, shoe throwing, hair pulling, biting, and stomping ensued until the racket they were causing led to adult intervention and they were pulled off of each other. They were then shamefacedly dragged before the other debs and made to sit in opposite corners of the banquet hall until their shamefaced mothers came to shamefacedly drag them home.

All of which left Viola plenty of time to wonder what move it was that Olivia planned to make and if she really wanted to find out.

===========================================================

Illyria Prep, Quad

Olivia jogged on the spot for a moment trying to calm her breathing as she caught sight of Sebastian walking alone back towards the dorms from the soccer field. This was the perfect opportunity for her to enact her plan. They were both alone, there was no around, and there were plenty of places to run and hide if it all went horribly wrong. Not exactly a cheerful thought, but a pragmatic one.

Letting out a breath of air, Olivia took one more deep breath and then started down the stairs that would bring her to Sebastian.

It was now or never.

“Sebastian!” She called as she hurried down the steps. “Sebastian!”

Viola stopped dead in her tracks as she heard Olivia calling her. For once she wished that she had her ipod headphones plugged into her ears so that she could claim that she didn’t hear the blonde calling her, but she didn’t, she heard and she had given herself away by panicking and stopping.

“I know,” Olivia started wasting no time as she caught up to Sebastian moved so that she was standing in front of him. “That things have been a little weird between us, and I think we both know why. I know that I have feelings, I think that you have feelings, and if you feel the way I do then…” she continued to words coming out a bit more rushed than she would have liked but overall steady and firm.

“I…” Viola started to say.

However, before she could complete that though Olivia’s lips where on hers, moving against her own softly, with determination and more than a hint of passion, and Viola noted, they were as soft as she suspected they were. Completely without her brains permission, her lips parted at the thought, and Olivia surged forward deepening the kiss, pressing their bodies against each other.

“…you know where to find me,” Olivia whispered softly pulling back from Viola’s lips finished the statement she had left hanging movement before. And before Viola could do more than whimper softly Olivia had taken off back into the night.

Viola bit her bottom lip, chewing on it as she watched the blonde disappear into the night. She could taste Olivia’s lip gloss on her and found herself licking her lips instead of biting at them as soon as she realized she would still taste the other girl - or at least a part of her.

Viola sighed. Things had just gotten a whole lot more complicated.

==========================================================

Illyria Pre, Quad

Viola sat slumped on the bench absently scuffing her shoe against the pavement. She had the worst luck in the world. She was sure that if someone bothered to document it that it could be scientifically proven that she was an unlucky SOB. She couldn’t believe that of all of the places he could have been on the entire campus, Duke had been in just the right spot an hour before to see her and Olivia kissing. She’d gotten a good taste of what a dude fight was like when she’d gotten back to her room, but the worse part about it was that she hadn’t even been able to defend herself. She had kissed Olivia back even though she knew Duke liked the blonde. Sure she could have told him that kissing Olivia was the last thing that she had ever planned on doing, but he wouldn’t have believed her and she was way to tired to try and come up with a convincing excuse so when Duke had manhandled her out of the door, she had just left.

“Hey … Eunice,” Viola said a bit wearily as she watched the brunette moonwalk over to her bench and sit down next to her. “Sorry about running out on our date like that. I just … there was a thing. But I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay,” Eunice responded. She could see that Sebastian was upset about something and she didn’t really think he was that cute anyway despite all of the girls that he was rumored to have gone out with, so she wasn’t really heartbroken or anything. “Are you okay?”

“I got kicked out of my room,” Viola muttered darkly, not ashamed to admit that she pouting when she said it. “Long story,” she added cutting off Eunice before she could say anything.

“Oh,” Eunice responded allowing silence to descend for a moment. “Is there anything I can do?”

Viola was about to say no, when she realized that there was something Eunice could do for her. She had contemplated going to see Olivia in the girl’s dorms after she had been kicked out of her room to finally explain what was going on, but she knew that she’d never be able to get in there at that time of night.

“Actually there is,” Viola said turning to face Eunice. “Do you think you could give Olivia a message for me?”

=========================================================

Illyria Prep, Girls Dormitory

Olivia hurried down the stairs that would lead her to the side exit of the dormitory. Eunice had told her that Sebastian urgently needed to see her and would be waiting outside by the side exit for the next half hour if she decided that she wanted to talk to him.

Needless to say she wanted to talk to him.

“Olivia,” Viola called out seeing the girl rush out the door and past her. “Over here.”

Olivia turned around at the sound of Sebastian’s voice and smiled self-consciously at the fact that she had rushed by him in her haste to see him.

“I was hoping … to see you,” she said as she walked over to him unable to stop the happiness she was feeling from manifesting itself as a huge smile. “I know I kind of stealth attacked you earlier, and I was worried that maybe …”

“Let’s go somewhere … more private,” Viola interrupted nodding as a few students walked past them. She really didn’t want to spill her guts to Olivia and get slapped across the face and bitched out in such a public place. She had her dignity.

“Yeah,” Olivia said trying not to sound overly eager. “Okay.”

Sebastian was quite was they walked, but Olivia was warmed by the fact that he had taken her hand and by the little looks he kept shooting her as they walked. Still she wanted desperately to talk to ease her own nerves, but wasn’t willing to risk ruining the moment. Instead, as they walked along she took up intense study of the boy with her noting how … pretty he looked in the moonlight. Sebastian really was a delicate beauty with his slight figure and full cheeks and lips.

“This should d…” Viola began to say as they stopped by the stadium bleachers. However before she could finish getting the last word out of her mouth, Olivia’s lips were on her once again, her hand slipping behind her neck as she kissed her with an intensity that Viola had never experienced before.

“Oliv …” she managed to gasp when the blonde eased up her assault on her lips, however Olivia must have taken the breathy utterance as a sign of approval because before Viola could even finish her name the blonde’s lips were back on her own, her tongue slipping into her mouth, and Viola found herself slipping into the kiss, her hand moving to the small of Olivia’s back to pull her closer to her as their lips moved against each other.

‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus’ Viola thought to herself as the embrace continued. She’d never been kissed like this in her life; it was like Olivia’s mouth had been flecked with God dust. She hadn’t known that kisses this intensely awesome existed, and even though she knew she should put a stop to it, it just felt too good. All she was aware of was Olivia’s lips and tongue, she could feel the blonde’s hand moving towards to hair line but was beyond worrying about her messing up her wig as Olivia’s tongue fluttered in her mouth doing very pleasant things to her body. And as one of the blonde’s hands began to rub up and down the side of her torso she felt herself moan and lean for fully into the kiss.

It was only when Olivia pulled away from her mouth and Viola had managed to calm her breathing enough to focus on the girl in front of her that she realized where Olivia’s hands were resting.

The blonde stared at her with a look of dawning comprehension as Viola looked down to see that Olivia’s hand was indeed resting over her breast. She had taped them down as usually, but the tape wasn’t enough to fully mask the swell of her breast. In baggy clothes it hid them pretty well, but if someone were to touch her there, which Olivia was doing, it would have been obvious what was hiding underneath.

“You’re …” Olivia started blinking, staring up at her, her fingers wiggling against Viola’s scalp. And that was when Viola realized that Olivia had managed to displace her wig as well and her fingers were resting underneath it against her real hair.

“I swear to god I’ve been trying to tell you for like three days,” Viola suddenly said stepping back from Olivia and holding her hands up in the universal sign of peace. “I didn’t mean for things to go this far, I never meant to … I just wanted to play soccer and things kind of spiraled … and, and I’ve been trying to tell you that I’m not … that I’m a … you know …”

“Girl?” Olivia volunteered helpful staring at … whoever it was that was standing in front of her.

“Yeah,” Viola replied looking back over at the blonde. “Sorry.”

Much to Viola’s surprise Olivia laughed at that, and then brought her hand up to cover her mouth as if she suddenly realized the sound was inappropriate.

Olivia rubbed her lips with her finger, they were still slightly damp from Sebas … whoever’s kisses. She sighed as she watched the girl across from her shift awkwardly. She realized that she should probably be throwing a shit fit, yelling, pointing, maybe even slapping. She realized that she should be freaked out by the fact that she had just hardcore made out with a girl, but she wasn’t. In fact she was feeling oddly calm. Sure she didn’t enjoy being lied to, but it had confirmed something that she had suspected for quite some time about herself.

“It’s alright,” she said slowly, running a slightly unsteady hand through her hair. “I’m not going to freak out on you,” she continued as the girl continued to stare at her. “You’re her, aren’t you?” she asked suddenly pieces starting to fall into place in her mind. “Viola.”

“Guilty as charged,” Viola responded somewhat despondently, only realizing that she had said it in her Sebastian voice when Olivia giggled. Smiling herself for a moment she then reached up, plucking the uncomfortable wig from her head and running a hand through her hair to restore some order to it. “Listen, I’m really, really, really sorry about what just happened. I know that you …”

“Stop apologizing,” Olivia interrupted. “I mean, I’m going to want an apology eventually but not for what you think. I’m not upset … about kissing you,” she continued stepping closer to Viola, closing the distance that the girl had put between the moments ago. “Can I ask you something?” she continued her heart rate picking up. Her parents had taken her to the Grand Canyon once as a child and they had gone to the edge of one of cliffs to look down at the vast nothingness beneath the edge. She’d felt short of breath and light-headed as she looked, and she kind of felt that way as she approached Viola. “Why did you let me kiss you?”

“Because, I … liked it?” Viola responded her brows scrunching together as she spoke.

“So did I,” Olivia revealed quite unnecessarily since Viola had worked out during the kissing that Olivia was really, really into it.

“So you don’t, you know, like care? That I’m a girl?” Viola asked sounding somewhat dumbfounded. This entire conversation was just going to completely different from how she had envisioned it that she found herself completely confused. Never in a million years did she expect Olivia to take the news so calmly, let alone positively.

“No,” Olivia responded sighing. “In fact it kind of makes sense you know.”

“No,” Viola responded shaking her head. “I really, really don’t. I mean I thought that you like Sebastian. I mean, I know I’m Sebastian, but Sebastian was a …”

“Boy,” Olivia interjected. “Yeah, I know. A very pretty one,” she went on sighing again and looking away from Viola uncomfortably. “I’ve never really felt about a guy the way that I did about Sebastian, I mean I could’ve taken or left the ones that asked me out before and I usually did leave. I just never … fell for any of them you know. And then Sebastian came along,” she went on shaking her head. “And it was like, whoa, you know. So this feeling is what all the other girls were talking about. And I didn’t know why I felt it for this awkward, scrawny, pretty boy when the Duke Orsino’s of the school left me cold, but I decided to just go with the flow you know,” she continued finally working up the nerve to look back up. “And the flow is a girl,” she finished smiling self-consciously before shrugging. “So I guess girls are what … warm me.”

“Yeah,” Viola breathed out as Olivia looked away from her again. “I get that,” she admitted smiling softly as Olivia looked back over at her. “I thought, you know, that I wanted to be with Duke … which was weird enough being disguised as Sebastian. But the more time I spent around you, the more time I wanted to spend with you. And at Caesar’s that night, I realized that it wasn’t Duke I had fallen for at all … it was you. It was you.”

“Really?” Olivia asked, unable to keep the hopeful note out of her voice. A lot of things had been revealed over the past half hour, and she knew that they were both going to have to deal with a lot of issues and talk about a lot of things, but one thing that hadn’t changed was how she felt about Viola. Viola was still funny, and smart and sweet, and sensitive. Everything that had made her fall for Sebastian was still standing right in front of her. And though this wasn’t how she had envisioned things turning out she still wanted to be with the person she had fallen for, boy or girl.

“Yeah,” Viola responded smiling. “Crazy I know,” she continued in her Sebastian voice causing Olivia to smile. “But true.”

Olivia ducked her head rubbed her neck awkwardly as Viola had spoke.

“I um,” she began awkwardly a moment later. “I … well, I really wanna kiss you again.”

Viola smiled widely at that before trying to control the reaction. “Okay,” she replied nodded trying to sound blasé. “Sure you know, like whatever,” she continued slipping into her Sebastian voice and some of the boy mannerisms she’d learned.

Olivia laughed and stepped closer to her closing the remaining distance between them. “You’re so cute,” she whispered, and then leaning up slightly she brushed her lips against Viola’s, smiling into the contact as she kissed her girlfriend for the first time.

The End

Thanks! I'm glad that you enjoyed the story :D

You totally need to see the movie! It's so funny, and cute. It was actually much better than I thought it would be. Plus Amanada Bynes amuses me endlessly.

Yay, the cyle of procrastination continues! I decided to write the fic instead of do work, so it seems only right that you should avoid work by reading the fic, lol.

P.S. Your icon is love! Stick It! is like if Bring It On had starred Eliza's character and I love it! And really it just seems fitting that Missy P's name is ... well, Missy ;)

THAT is exactly what I said when I saw that trailer. I was all, "OMG, it's totally like if Missy hadn't gone to Rancho Carne." Well, okay, that all happened after I got my basic thought functions back once I recovered from all the hotness.

Whoa! Cute and fluffy and sweet and... whoa! And to quote the comment before me, I haven't even seen the movie yet ^^. I probably will when it comes out here, just to get the imagery right for your fic.

Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! Indeed! Hehe, that cracked me up. I'm almost sorry when I got to the end of the story, because... well, that's the end of the story, and I was hoping for more cuteness from these two. *cough*sequel*cough*. Thank you, I really enjoyed this!

Big props for making great fics from small subtle femslashy moments in movies. I just found (yeah, where have I been? :P) and read your Bend It Like Beckham and the Mummy fics at Passion & Perfection, and they also made me go whoa! (Urgh, why must I channel Blossom's Joey in moments like this?). You really have a knack for doing this stuff. Now I'm hoping you'll watch Bandidas (with Salma Hayek & Penelope Cruz) and make a fanfiction out of that ^^

Btw, found on the second reading (yeah, I just had to read it again because of the cute):

She had taped them down as usually, but the tape wasn’t enough to fully mask to swell of her breast.

... the swell of her breast? Just thought I'd give you a heads up. And of course, it just had to involve breasts :P

Cuuuuuuuute! :)

And I really think that, if Shakepeare were here today, he'd be all about the slash. Acutally, I think he kind of invented it.
