Blade: The Series
Jul. 19th, 2006 11:36 pmMy love for this show grows every week!
The Good
- More Shen, yay! Sure a lot of his screen time was rubbing his eyes in front of computer screens and riding his hog, but when he got to talk (which was much more than usual) it was great. I hope we get to see a little more Shen in the field in the future, he was great last episode and again tonight.
- Blade backstory. I really liked how they delved into Blade's childhood and hearing about how he wasn't always as together as he is now. It was also interesting seeing how dependant he is on the serum. He's an addict too, just on a different drug.
The Really Good
- The House of Lycan was interesting and Chase's commentary about what freaks they were was good comedy (she gets the best lines).
Chase: "Probably because you're all batshit"
Chase: "Yes, because according to the freaks we're dirty girls..."
I'm also really interested in seeing Krista's reaction to the blood bath, it should be good. Bad-ass Krista is so much fun (and sexy rowr, although stilleto Krista is pretty hot too. Hell, Krista's just hot).
Also it was interesting to meet Chase's ex (especially cause of the possessive looks she was giving Krista).
I'd be interested in finding out more about what went down between the two of them (despite his tea drinking yoga instructor outfit. Shave Steve!!! You can keep the hair though).
- Krista's little Static Whisperer thing was kinda cool. Love seeing the vampire abilities in full effect.
Plus Krista and Chase play time. I love the two of them together. They really are the most interesting and dynamic duo. I'm glad that the writers are constantly putting them together cause it's far more interesting than watching Marcus with either of them (though he was pretty good tonight, snobby as hell but amusing).
It was also interesting seeing Chase close her eyes as Krista went under almost as if she was actually genuinely worried about her *gasp* Awww, it's true love.
- Bokeem Woodbine. He was really good as the leader of the Bad-Bloods and he would have made a terrific Blade. He has the voice, the charisma, the badass attitude and he certainly couldn't be any worse at fight scenes then Sticky Fingaz (stupidest alias ever). And I'm no Bokeem fangirl, I absolutely hated him in The Breed but he was really good tonight. Mourns for the Blade that wasn't.
The Bad
- The episode moved a little slowly. Too much exposition while Blade hangs from chains, not enough Krista and Chase. Also, I didn't need half of those Shen drives a motorcycle and bags a bag shots.
I have to say I'm really enjoying the show, it gets better every week the writing was particularly strong tonight (except for the expositiony bits). And I'm glad to see that the police investigation is continuing. I'm not sure whether I like the lead cop or not (he's a weird actor, he's so laid back like he's seconds away from falling asleep, but at the same time kinda seems like an asshole. Weird. I don't get him) But I enjoyed the investigation plotline tonight.
The preview for next week looked interesting as well with the possible vampire baby plotline and that the freaky Red Queen-ish vampire girl that seems like she's a pureblood or maybe even an elder bitching about Marcus. Plus BloodKrista. Good times.

Date: 2006-07-20 06:08 am (UTC)Krista? Quite yummy - I was entranced by the stilettos. I must admit to being endlessly amused by the hoyay just leaping off the screen whenever Krista and Chase are in the same scene...
Bravo to Spike for picking this show up, no?

Date: 2006-07-20 07:33 pm (UTC)I totally feel your pain on that one. Even my friends who usually watch vampire movies/shows aren't watching it! I mean how do you own "Kindred: The Embraced" and not check out this show? How? *glares*
Krista? Quite yummy - I was entranced by the stilettos.
The stiletto's were gold. And apparently the cameraman thought so too since we got at least two close-ups of them. Too bad they scared SoccerballGirl (or maybe that was just Krista's vampire cooties. Don't worry Krista, I'll play with you, lol)

It's delicious! I think the actresses have got to be playing it up. Especially Jessica Gower (aka Chase) cause she gives these long sweeping looks up and down Krista's body all the time. And I really can't see all those little touches being script directions. Anyway if she's embracing her inner Eliza Dushku I'm all for it!

Most definately. I was a little worried after the pilot, but I'm officially gonna start pimping the show to people now. I think it's been getting good rating for a Spike Original show so hopefully it'll be around for a while.

Date: 2006-07-20 07:38 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm officially addicted to it now. And this weeks epsidoe is good, especially the Krista/Chase road trip to the House of Lycan storyline.
However, they have ALL asked me if I am watching it.
I'm in the exact same boat. There are just some things that people know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'll watch and this was one of them. I must be pretty predictable because after like 3 months of working together one of my coworkers saw an add for Aeon Flux, and was like "you're gonna see that on the weekend aren't you" and I was all like "yes" in a small voice.
Still, this show is turning out ot be good so I don't have to be ashamed of watching it anymore. I will gladly pimp it now :D

Date: 2006-07-22 10:37 pm (UTC)toatally agree with you on that.
i truely adore chase/krista.
to bad they didn't show a scene of chase and krista in the back of the limo on the way there.
Re: cammy
Date: 2006-07-27 04:53 am (UTC)And I was totally agree that that limo scene ended FAR too soon! Oh well, if the other episodes are any indication Chase will continue to bring the LesYay even if it never develops into more. Which it should (especially considering the show is on SPIKE TV). At the very least there better be a Chase/Krista feeding scene sometime this scene. *shakes fist threateningly*
