Jordana Brewster is Mrs. Smith? ... so *tear* beautiful

Moviehole reports that Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Fast and the Furious) has been cast in ABC's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" pilot. She'll take over the role made famous by Angelina Jolie in the feature, which co-starred Brad Pitt.

The site adds that the pilot picks up six months after the end of the film and follows our typical suburban married couple - who just happen to be undercover assassins on the side – as they struggle to keep the spark in their marriage going, even as they try to save the world.

The project is being targeted for a fall 2007 premiere. Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg are reprising their roles as director and writer, respectively. Liman, Kinberg and Dave Bartis will executive produce.

Filming is expected to start in March

How do you replace the smokin' hotness of Angelina Jolie? With the inferno of hotness Jordana Brewster! This may be sacriledge but I think Jordana will make a even more smokin' Mrs. Smith. Now if they cast Steven Strait as Mr. Smith I don't think I would be able to make it through an episode of this show without swooning (you know 4 or 5 times).

Jordana on my screen every week (hopefully, if the show doesn't suck), so ... *tear* beautiful...

I am sooo all for Jordana/Steven or even plain Jordana/Whoever but isn't Angelina in her mid to late 30s along with Brad Pitt? Is it just me or is the Jordana casting going to seem a bit odd since she's barely in her late 20s?

I think if Jordana Brewster is gracing people's TVs on a weekly basis, it will probably go unnoticed because she'll be too busy melting people's retinas with her hotness.

This is true. And I'll probably be thinking the same thing when I watch it, because it really doesn't make any sense. But nothing will put it farther from my mind than watching Jordana kicking ass and killing people while wearing her trademark sexy smirk. You know the one... *wink wink*

Hee, so true. The real requirement for Ms. Smith is that she needs to be smokin' hot (as all of the Mrs. Smith's I've ever seen - Maria Bello, Angie, and now Jordana - have been), and she needs to be believably badass (which TCM - The Beginning and the Girl Trash promo show me JB can be).

So, basically I'm totally there, lol.

I think Angie is only like 30, maybe 31 which would only make her 5 years or so older than Jordana, but she does look much more mature than Jordana, who still has that girlish thing going on. As long as they cast a Mr. Smith that is age appropriate I don't think it'll be a HUGE problem. I mean look at "Superman Returns", it took after the first two Donner movies and we went from Margot Kidder to Kate Bosworth, and Chris Reeve to Brandon Routh (an age decrease of over a decade in Bosworth's case).

If I can survive that I'll be able to handle Angie to Jordana ;)

She'll be 32 this year but alright, the three kids and three marriages threw me off. While Steven Strait is yummy, probably not practical unless he grew back his facial hair because he has the same baby-faced problem as Jordana. How about Ryan Gosling?

True, true. He's just so boyishly adorable, especially when he smiles. He couldn't play off being married for a few years though. At least Jordana has being in her mid-20s on her side, while Steven just cracked 20 I think.

I flove Ryan Gosling, and he and Jordana would probably have crazy chemistry. I think he's a young actor whose career is actually going well now, so he probably would go back to tv.

- James Marsden (http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/gallery/2006/07/05/richard3.jpg). Doesn't have much on his plate at the moment, can do the repressed thing for Mr. Smith's regular life well, but is also smooth as hell for the bad ass part of Mr. Smith. And while he's older than Jordana, he still looks young, and is fine as hell.

- Sean Maher (http://pics.livejournal.com/greenie_breizh/pic/001084c0/s640x480). Too pretty? Perhaps. But he can butch up, and he can be both unassuming and badass (see: Simon Tam) which would work well for the character. Plus, Sean+Jordana+Making Out = *head explodes*

- Charlie Hunnam (http://www.charlie-hunnam.net/pictures/charlie-hunnam-4.jpg). Gorgeous, good actor, and doesn't have much on his plate. Plus, him and Jordana (see reference to head exploding)

So pretty and intense, but also sweet and goofy. Plus he can act. Might be a bit old for Jordana though (but then again Brad is like a decade older than Angie so...)

- Michael Trucco (http://www.michaeltrucco.com/desktop-2_800.jpg). I'm totally loving him as Anders on BSG, and yes there is a problem in that he's Anders on BSG, but I don't think Anders will be around for much longer so if Mike finds himself in need of a job ...

Rodrigo Santoro - I think this one depends on if the creators wanna stay close to what Angie and Brad look like but I could kinda see it. And I say that never seeing him on Lost

James Marsden - I think would look too old compared to Jordana but he does give off that cheap Brad Pitt vibe.

Sean Maher - I think he's too scrawny for anyone to take him seriously as a secret agent or whatever. Maybe that's just my brain forever pegging him as the Firefly doctor.

Charlie Hunnam - I could see this one but if I remember correctly he has a horrible time at an American accent.

Eion Bailey - Same problem as James Marsden, he'd seen ancient compared to 20-something Jordana.

Michael Trucco - Ding, ding, ding! I think we have a winner, or at least in my book, where we both agree. BSG is or will be over soon so he'd be free to do the pilot. Also, I'm so tired of Lee/Kara angst cookies over their marriages, I think it might be a good career move on his part.

Aww, boo. This was one of my favorite choices, but if he has a crap American accent then he must be veto'd. They would have looked together though, and Charlie can do scary and mean pretty well.

I love the idea of Michael in the role. And like you I am sick to death of the Lee/Dee/Sam/Kara quadrangle that's been going on. The whole thing has seriously made me detest Lee and Kara, and wonder if Sam and Dee would let me wipe my feet on them if I came across them on a rainy day.

Michael is fine as hell, has proven that he has mad chemistry with feisty, difficult women, is just a tiny bit older than Jordana which works, and though we've never seen Anders clean up I'm sure Michael could do sauve and debonair.

Now all we have to do is convince the casting agents ...

I've heard of extending unrequited love to get ratings but I think at this point it's overkill and they're going to get a lot of bitter viewers who don't want to see Lee/Kara or anything to do with the two of them by the time they get there.

In my mind, Michael looks late 20s, early 30s and could pull off even younger or older (as well as rugged or clean) than that given all neccessities. Those are some prime characteristics in a spy, but maybe I'm thinking too practically and now that we have come to the correct conclusion, there's no way in hell he'll be Mr. Smith. More to the point, now that I'm envisioning him in the role next to Jordana, I'll probably hate whoever they do end up casting.

(Also, this dude better be freakin' hott whoever he is 'cause I really can't get over Jordana kissing girls unless she's kissing a smoking hott dude.)

I'm all for Jordana Brewster getting work but Mr & Mrs Smith? That was a badly written piece of boredom with Jolie and Pitt, so I don't see it suddenly getting good just because it's been transferred to tv. At least not if they're using the same writer/director.

Awww, I didn't think the movie version was that bad, lol. As for Jordana taking the role, I hate to say it but other than D.E.B.S. the movie roles she's been getting lately haven't been all that great, so it really couldn't be any worse.

Besides, it seems to be the thing these days for movie actors to be coming to TV (hell, Famke Janssen is getting her own cop drama).
