Unbelievable, I just watched a decent episode of PKJ. I really liked that episode actually, and because I was thirsty and in need of tasty beverage, I was actually watching away from the screen when the kiss happened, so the visual of that has in no way marred my opinion of the episode. Yatta!
“I’ve been to Mo’s place plenty of times.” Aww, thanks for that writers. That was a nice way to start off the episode, especially since it was followed by Jane talking about having to scrub herself with disinfectant after meeting with Connor. Of course it means nothing because the voice-overs on this show are just a tool to waste time and allow viewers to enjoy the low, raspy tones of Lokinator, but it was fun.
As for the warehouse at the beginning, couldn’t they have just like retreated from the warehouse at the end, put in some ear plugs and then gone back in avoiding the gross bleeding from the ears thing? I guess I could never be a super secret agent, cause when my wears start bleeding I would be all like "enough of of this ebola shit!" and tried and come up with a plan B that didn't involve me bleeding from the ears. Still, I liked those freaky kids (it totally reminded me of the ‘vampire’ episode of Dark Angel) so that sequence wasn't a complete bust.
There were lines in this episode that were meant to be funny that actually were. WHAT??? Niiiiiice, but whaaaaaat?
I actually liked Jane’s boyfriend this episode. I know, I know. But, other than the “do you think I’m fat” conversation from last episode, I haven’t cringed at any of their interactions, which makes this relationship vastly superior to any McBride or Connor hookups the writers are potentially hinting at.
Plus, the boyfriend (does he have a name? I’ll just call him Pretty like it’s “Prison Break” up in here) because Pretty is, well, pretty. He’s the best looking guy on the show, so visually its alright seeing him with Loken. If Jane can’t make out with an actual girl, I’d prefer it if they’d just keep her making out with a man pretty enough to be a girl.
Also, if this relationship continues it means that the show won’t get bogged down in awkward, boring, cringe worthy triangles within the team. Pretty could just be Jane's steady boyfriend who we see for a few minutes every couple of episode or maybe for like half an episode every season when he’s put in mortal danger and Jane has to save him. I could live with that. Just no team hookups unless it’s Jane and Mo – which won’t happen – so no team hookups!
Who wears short shorts? Jane wears short shorts … and tank tops too. Jane working out = very niiiiice.
Was it just me or did flashlight wielding bad commander guy look like a poor man’s Daniel Craig?
Okay, is it just me or does anyone else have absolutely no idea what it is Connor actually did? I mean, everyone always talks about all of these skeletons in his closet, but then this episode they were all like he tried to put away dirty cops, and then it was like the other members of his team were worse than him, and then when the Neuro was revealed the motive for revenge was based on an accident, but Connor is still all angsty and shit, and … I don’t get it! I know it’s supposed to be a big mystery and everything, but I don’t really care enough about this show to speculate so I just wish that they would tell me.
Also, I’m perfectly aware that maybe this did explain it and I just forgot. But if that’s the case I wish they would tell me in an episode memorable enough that I won’t forget everything that pertains to it.
Connor smiles funny.
I like smart, intuitive Jane as much as the next chick, but her leap from ‘string of accidents’ to ‘Connor is being hunted by a neuro from his past who is out for revenge because Connor used to be BAAAAAD’ seemed a bit of a stretch. I know they tried to address it with that whole ‘hunch’ convo she had with Riley, but it was still a real streeeeeeeetch.
“Someone’s turning our own security against us?” HAHA, security. Someone locked the door.
Magical Black Mechanic is back! As soon as he started to sneak up those stairs I was like “Don’t kill Grandpa!” And they didn’t, but I knew it wasn’t going to end up well for him. I think Joe … nah, I like Grandpa better … I think Grandpa is only going to show up when they need to put a somewhat familiar but not overly important figure in danger from now on.
Connor: “No. But I need your help.”
Jane: “Are you asking me for help?”
Um, yes Jane he is. That’s why he looked at you and said “I need your help.” But I’ll forgive the writers for that one cause Loken delivered the line with a cute little smirk.
Also, I know the team was afraid the Neuro would use their flashlights against them, but glow sticks? The image of Mo busting out of that airshaft all badass with her gun drawn while a glow stick hung beneath it in her best Scully impersonation will never get old.
“How much air do we have left?”
“We’ll know when we run out of breath.”
LOL.
Also, based on the ending I think that Jane’s love interest should be the motorcycle. I mean, really the show has worked hard enough to convince us that Jane wants to ride a hog, so they could as well just go all the way.
I liked last weeks episode because of the GOGA, but honestly, this is probably the best episode of the series yet. Let’s hope this is a sign that they found their sea legs, and the episodes will be at least tolerable from here on out.

Date: 2007-07-06 09:03 pm (UTC)The story was probably better done than usual, but the whole thing just bored me. I signed up to watch a show about Jane... not Connor. All this focus on Ugly is wearing on my nerves. It's very shallow of me... but I'd rather watch a bad episode about Jane and/or Mo, than a good one about Connor.
Hopefully, I'll find more to like in tonight's episode. Wait... it's Jane & Connor undercover as a couple isn't it? Aaaaaaaaa. Okay, maybe it will be funny. I could deal with that.

Date: 2007-07-06 09:31 pm (UTC)I liked that the episode seemed more professionally done than usual but my fave since the pilot is still the ep where Jane is prisoner despite the lame end.
I'm watching Kyle XY though and really liking it. Season 1 was cute. I'm about 2/3 through.
Season 2 is turning it up in a good way. Emily is bringing the dangerous and sexy and I'm really curious to see where they're going to go with XX.
Anyways, just thought I'd let you know your pimping ways are still working ;).
