I'm continuing to love this show. Seriously, I'm so happy it's good.
There's probably more than could be said, but I'm sleepy so I bid you all adieu!
LENA HEADEY!
1. Summer Glau rocks. Like many people I think that for me Cameron has been "awww schmoopy, you so cute with your big eyes and robotic walk" since the beginning of the series, but this episode Cameron freaked me the hell out in an awesome way. She was very unsettling (and hot) for most of the episode, which is really how we should be feeling about her more then "awww, so cute *pinches cheeks*".
For that reason the scenes with Cameron and Charley were actually some of my favorite in the episode. "Little girl, you freak me.....the hell out," indeed Charley. Indeed.
I don't think for a moment that Cameron is going to betray Sarah and John, but with the "Sometimes they go bad. No one knows why," line, and the chopping up Terminator's, and the slipping microchips into her pockets, Cameron really made me uncomfortable for the first time and I give major kudos to Summer for that.
Also, Cameron standing in the doorway in her jumpsuit after blowing away the Terminator that went bad was like the hottest thing ever. *looks around for cold water*
2. Kyle is pretty.
3. Future!John is interesting. I was interested to see that he seemed to be revered and respected by his soldier's but not really loved by them. He was like this mystically shadow-y figure that operated from the depth who everyone knew about and was in awe of, but it was a cold, aloof sort of wonder. The "John doesn't have any friends" line was very telling too. Innnnnnnteresting.
Also, I wonder if it means anything that they had Dekker playing John during the "Look! It's a time travel room!" scene? Was it just because Derek was all drugged up and the future was merging with his present, or is a fairly young John in the future who has maybe jumped a head a lot, or was it just a cheap stand-in because they haven't hired anyone for Future!John yet? *scratches head* I'm guessing it's because Derek was drugged up though since we've seen an older John in the movies, and they've just hired Christian Bale to play a manly John in the next movie (though I realize that movie will likely have little to nothing to do with the show).
4. As much as I liked Charley, I'm glad that there is no lingering romance plot between him and Sarah. I won't have to cringe every time I see him now.
5. Lena is so cute. When Sarah was talking about Kyle and his kind eyes and had that smile on her face I was just like "awwwwww". She was like a sixteen year old girl.
6. I was actually very pleased with the reveal that it was Derek who killed Andy. Derek didn't really seem that badass despite his stubble and tattoos, so I was pleased to see that he was the one that did it. It's also interesting that the first thing he did upon meeting Sarah was lie to her about not killing Andy.
7. So, who thinks that Cameron-model Terminator's were in the Torture Chamber of Classical Music? *raises hand* I'm thinking brainwashing was going on since they let the men go. Also, I'm very interested to know what was up with the music. Was there a human involved in whatever was going on?
8. BRING BACK TARISSA! I miss her.

Date: 2008-02-19 10:24 pm (UTC)I'm not really worried about Cameron being evil, I'm sure it's misdirection. Summer Glau is integral to the show, and if she was rogue they wouldn't be able to make as much use of her as they would when she's on Team Connor. I do see some conflicts ahead, but I'm not worried about it separating the terrific trio for long.
Sarah's verbal bitch-slapping of Cameron last night also really makes me look forward to the arc where Sarah has to learn how to appreciate Cameron and start treating her better. Like, the episode where Cameron walks out on her back-talking ass and Sarah realizes how much they need her (and how much she misses her).

Honestly, I didn't even think Cameron's "it's not safe for you here" was that threatening. It was more bitchy, which is hilarious. Cameron was really bitchy that whole scene with her "it's a scary robot" comment and the general way she was looking at Charlie. I was waiting for her to sneer "I really REALLY don't like you" and stick her tongue out at him. Seriously, that scene was made of win.
I was struck by how mean Sarah was though. Threatening to take Cameron apart piece by piece was mean even for how they normally interact with each other. And then when she was all like "take care of" and sashayed on out of the garage I was like "Sarah, you lucky you so fine or else you'd get your ass kicked".

Date: 2008-02-19 11:04 pm (UTC)After screwing me over with "Firefly," Fox owes it to me to not do that to Summer.

WIN. Sarah apologizing and missing Cameron <3

It was definitely hilarious, but I was just thinking it may have been a teensy bit threat-ish in the sense that she was sorta playing into his "scary robot" theory, giving him something like "It's not safe for you here because I'm going to kill you." Or, at least that's how it came across to Charley. (I much prefer the more femslashy threat interpretation of "It's not safe for you here because I'll kill you if you put the moves on Sarah again.")
"Sarah, you lucky you so fine or else you'd get your ass kicked".
LOL. So, SO true. Both Sarah being lucky that she's so fine, and the fact that she is, indeed, so fine.

Date: 2008-02-19 11:25 pm (UTC)I can't even think about "Firefly" without wanting to beat the people that run FOX with a very blunt or very sharp object. That show was golden. GOLDEN!

She was all petulant when she said it, but you know that Charley feared for his life and ran to Sarah crying about how mean Cameron was and how he thought she'd create another set of chum bags out of him. Honestly, Charley was probably right to be worried, Cameron seriously didn't like him.
It was just hilarious how Sarah came in all "What did you say to him?" like he was a six year old that whose older sister made him cry and now Mommy has to punish her.

What I love about this show is that you don't even really have to fanwank. Cameron was totally jealous the entire episode or both Derek ("We should let him die") and Charley. Cameron does not want any men folk moving in on her woman. In fact now that I think about it, it cracks me up that she's proposed the death of two men in Sarah's life (Andy and Derek), and that she intimidated and scared the bejesus out of the other one. Heh. Cameron's so possessive. It's darling.
