Dollhouse Casting news! YAY!
Mar. 26th, 2008 10:06 pmFinally some Dollhouse casting news! Whoo are the pretty, pretty people that will be joining The Dushku?
Tahmoh Penikett as Paul *woot* I loveHelo Tahmoh!

Tahmoh is great. He is a giant, handsome man shaped ball of awesome. It'll be great to see him get to spread his wings a bit. BSG has never had enough Helo (Yeah, I'm like one of ten people that was Team Shirtless Helo instead of Team Shirtless Apollo).
They should have just gone ahead and cast Grace Park as Sierra. The more I see of Grace Park, the more I love her. She's funny. And after her delivery of "What else are you going to do? Read a book?" on Letterman during the Top Ten Reasons to Watch the Last Season of Battlestar Galactica, was flipping awesome. I was cracking up like I was Tricia Helfer after she delivered it.
*mourns the idea of Grace or Maggie Q ... picks self up and moves on*
Next is Dichen Lachman as Sierra
Never seen her in anything. She certainly looks bombshell-y. My only note is that I vote for dark hair! From the script sides, she should have a lot of fun with the role of Sierra. Looking forward to seeing her in action.
Enver Gjokaj as Victor

He's the one in the T-Shirt ;)
This is another one I've never heard of/seen in anything. Which is actually pretty typical for Joss shows. He's tall and dark which is pretty much how I pictured Victor. Enver must also be able to do a pretty good British accent, which is also fun, and a selling point, lol. Can't really say anything else. Looking forward to seeing him in action.
And finally we have Fran Kranz as Topher

This is the only one I'm not thrilled about. I didn't really love this guy in The TV Set and I found him really brutal, and not funny on Welcome to the Captain, but then again I think brutal and not funny was pretty much just Welcome to the Captain in general. I just found his style a bit ... um, broad shall we say in both projects (though, in his defense I think he supposed to play it that way in The TV Set).
Now, I'm really looking forward to seeing who they cast as Adelle and Claire. Hopefully I won't have to wait in suspense for too long!

OMG SHE'S AUSTRALIAN
and was on Neighbours?! Yay, aussie spirit! Lol. I can't wait to see her in action! And whoa, she's 1.71 so she's really tall. Anyways, I can't wait to slash her and Eliza together. XD Hehe.I'm so excited! *bounces*

Date: 2008-03-27 06:17 am (UTC)im guessing there's not Brits here yet, for you are sadly deprived of the Neighbours-ness...she was damn annoying in that, but you could sort of imagine she could act if it wasnt neighbours i suppose
I TRUST JOSS WITH EVERYTHING.but my first feeling when i saw the pic of fran kranz, i didnt like the look of him either.not seen him in anything though

Date: 2008-03-27 10:58 am (UTC)I saw a clip (well, half a clip) of her on Neighbours and I see what you're saying. A few times in the clip, I was like "yeah, I could see this." Plus, it's really hard to gage what someone can do in other roles, based on soap opera performances. Plus, you know I've never hated Joss casting for any show.

That said, I still don't like the casting of Fran Kranz. He may be a first for me. I already wasn't really loving Topher from the script sides I saw, but I thought "With a good actor playing him, they could make him more sympathetic than he's coming across to me". And now this guy has been cast, and I now picture that Topher will end up being an unimaginable douchebag because of it.
I find it really hard not to trust in Joss though, so there's a big part of me that wants to be made to eat my words, and hopes that I'll be blown away by Kranz's awesomeness when he gets his hands on a Whedon script.

Date: 2008-03-27 11:00 am (UTC)Praise Whedon!
Still, I'm excited about Tahmoh. And I kind of love discovering new, awesome actors on Mutant Enemy shows (I'd list them, but it'd end up being like the entire cast list of shows).

Date: 2008-03-27 11:06 am (UTC)lol, I know. This show is SO gonna be the next big femslash thing, because of Eliza. I can't wait for the tide of fic to begin rolling in. Echo/Sierra will definately be a visually pleasing pairing. Although, I'm totally gonna be slashing Echo/Adelle as well, possibly Echo/Claire ;) Bring on the Dollhouse, baby.
And whoa, she's 1.71 so she's really tall.
Gina and Rachel could step on her, lol. They are the true Amazon's in the Whedon-verse!
Lachman will tower over the Dushku however, so she'll still be able to represent for the tall girls ;)

Date: 2008-03-27 11:41 am (UTC)... Yes, I went through a stage where I would watch Neighbours every night with my two sisters. We called it "Gaybours" and mocked it mercilessly, but we still sobbed like little bitches when the plane went down. We pretended we were just watching it for the piss-takeability of it, but we weren't fooling anyone.
Aaaaand anybody who doesn't watch Neighbours will have no idea what I was just babbling about. Still. I will be amused when I see her acting opposite the Dushku, but I'm also eager to see what her acting will be like outside of a soapie.

Date: 2008-03-27 11:47 am (UTC)• Adelle Dewitt: The fortyish iceberg who runs the Dollhouse where the human Etch-a-Sketches reside.
• Boyd Langton: Echo's handler and father figure.
• November: The Tracy Turnblad of the Dolls.
• Dr. Claire Sanders: The beautiful older woman with whom Topher is smitten.

Date: 2008-03-27 11:51 am (UTC)Rachel? Who's Rachel? Dammit, I don't remember a Rachel in the Whedonverse... unless it's Rachel Bilson (where she was got a minor role as a potential slayer) but she's tiny.
But yeah, Gina's a giant - she's 1.78! Sheesh. :|
Lachman will tower over the Dushku
*nods* Wayyyyy. I thought The Dushku was tall because she was marginally taller against The Buffster but now that I've seen her against some celebs... she's actually petite. Which is really strange because I keep picturing her as tall. Anyway I have a thing with height, as you might notice from this comment. =.=" Lol.
This show is SO gonna be the next big femslash thing, because of Eliza.
Eliza's chemistry with girls are truly amazing. Like it's sexually natural for her. Hmmm, then again Eliza is the sex so naturally, she can even have chemistry with a rock. I would willing to be that rock for a day if I could get groped by Eliza.

Date: 2008-03-27 11:59 am (UTC)Boyd Langton: Anthony Stewart Head is the obvious choice, but he's too iconic as Giles. So I don't really like him for it. Some one suggest Victor Garber though, who I think would be great. Not a Mutant Enemy Alum though.
November: Is impossible to cast from former shows because she's a big girl, which you like never see on TV. The only ME Alum, I can think of would be the chick they had originally cast to play Willow, before going with Hannigan, Riff Regan I think her name was.
And other than Niki Blonsky I have no other casting ideas.
Dr. Claire Sanders: Gina Torres! I could get behind her for this role. Katie Finnernan from Wonderfalls and The Inside might do a good job as well. I could also see Kristin Lehman from Drive in the role.
And then there's my non-ME choice of Dina Meyer, lol.

Date: 2008-03-27 12:02 pm (UTC)Rachel Nichols, she wasn't a Joss show though. She was on Tim Minear's show "The Inside". I tend to lump Tim's shows (The Inside, Wonderfalls, Drive) in there with Joss's shows, lol. Rachel Nichols is awesome though, and 5'10. The girl is all legs. It's awesome.
Damn, must get ready for work. Will comment on more later!

Same here! I mean, I like shirtless Bambi but there's nothing better than shirtless Tahmoh!

Date: 2008-03-28 11:48 am (UTC)Yeah, I thought for a while that Dush was tallish too. Probably Faith's larger than life personality, mixed in with the height advantage over Gellar. I've resigned myself to the fact that she's wee now, though.
Eliza's chemistry with girls are truly amazing. Like it's sexually natural for her.
Yeah, it's like those commercials: "An insane amount of chemistry with any female within a 10 meter radius = priceless"
Really, that's something that can't be taught, it's just a natural gift. Angie Harmon is another one with a talent like that. I still remember that one episode of Law and Order where she had more chemistry with the random chick playing Ricci then she did with McCoy for the whole season.
There is going to be endless potential for femslash with this show, because all Eliza needs to do to bring it, is be present on screen ;)

Date: 2008-03-28 11:56 am (UTC)That would probably be a really good idea. I mean, I'm sure there are plus size actresses in the states, I see them in guest staring roles on U.S. TV, they just never get the spotlight for anyone to know who they are.
oh and as for beautiful older women - if House wasn't so popular i'd totally go for Lisa Edelstein
Cuddy! We know she can play a lady in charge! Lisa's got a good gig, though ... I don't think she'll cry herself to sleep counting the millions of viewers and dozens of Golden Globe noms her show gets ;)
There are so many beautiful women in the age range they're looking for for Adelle and Claire that it's hard to choose a favorite. Though, I just saw The Bank Job last night, and now I want Saffron Burrows on my television set every week. She is perfection (and not above doing U.S. television).
Polly ... Saffron ... Polly ... Saffron ... Polly ... ahhhh, you're tearing me apart!
Seriously, I need casting on Adelle and Claire ASAP.

Date: 2008-03-28 11:58 am (UTC)I know! My television needs more Tahmoh! It'll be nice to see him get to use his acting muscles a bit more, and remain sexy while doing so!
Same here! I mean, I like shirtless Bambi but there's nothing better than shirtless Tahmoh!
There's nothing wrong with Bambi, but Tahmoh > Bambi any day of the week.
