Dollhouse character news...
Feb. 29th, 2008 05:39 pmShow Description: the series depicts a group of blank-slate secret agents who get different personalities, abilities and memories installed in her brains for each mission; all these attributes are also wiped away at mission’s end. The focus of “Dollhouse” is an operative named “Echo” (Eliza Dushku), whose memories somehow don’t get wiped away quite as thoroughly as those of her colleagues.
What Really Matters: It stars Eliza Dusku and was created by Joss Whedon and will therefore be awesome (and quickly canceled)
I'm getting more excited about this show the more I hear about it. The only thing that makes me want to cry is that it's on FOX.
What do you think? Who would be your dream cast?

A great and terrible obsession ...
Jan. 2nd, 2008 02:41 amSo after reading The Sweet Far Thing I've been completely obsessed with Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle Trilogy, and since I learned that they're making a movie of at least the first book, A Great and Terrible Beauty, I've been obsessed trying to cast my perfect versions of the characters.
So because I am obsessed and currently have too much free time on my hands ...
( My casting ideas for A Great and Terrible Beauty )
And there is my obsessive, crazy casting post for the four main girls (I mean really, the whole thing is really about Gemma, Felicity, Anne and Pippa in the first book), and Miss Moore because I love her like I'm Gemma or something, and Kartik because well you've got to cast Kartik.
As for the other characters I look forward to whatever mixed bag of famous British actors the casting director throw at us (I wonder who Alan Rickman is going to play, cause you know he's going to end up in there somewhere!)
If you've read the books (or just like casting movie roles) lemme know what you think or people you would cast!

They've got a little mention of the Y: The Last Man movie in development over at afterellen where they were talking about possible casting. And since I think Y: The Last Man, and speculating about casting I decided to throw my hat in.
This is what I came up with:
Yorrick = Ryan Reynolds, whenever I picture a live action version of the character the image that always comes to mind is Reynolds.
Some other people suggested John Kraskinski and Ryan Gosling which I think would be two pretty good choices as well. Kraskinski I think speaks for itself, and I remember Gosling in his smartass Breaker High days and if he could channel that (which I'm sure he could cause he's awesome) with his new manly hotness I think he'd be a great Yorrick.
Agent 355 = Traci Thoms, my conviction that Traci Thoms would make a wonderful, totally badass 355 has only been strengthen since Grindhouse: Death Proof, which she pwned. I'm gonna mention some other names here, but if anyone but Traci Thoms is cast I'm gonna be disappointed.
Another "Death Proof" alum suggested was Rosario Dawson, and while she's kind of a go to black actress (kind of like the African American Lucy Liu: see below), I can't really see it.
A suggestion was also made for Rose Rollins, which is alright I think, if a bit obscure. Again, she's a bit more of a straight up hottie than I pictured 355, but she's pretty bad ass from what I've seen (which admittedly isn't a lot since I cannot watch an entire episode of TLW).
Dr. Mann = Maggie Q, yeah okay that's mostly because I like looking at Maggie Q and I'd get to look at her for a long time in a Y: The Last Man movie, but I think she'd also be pretty good in the role. Also, let's be honest, Maggie Q is young and hot, and one of the new "it" girls which means that her chances are like a bajillion times higher than anyone else I could think to suggest.
Sandra Oh, is also an inspired choice. Sandra delivering "Y"ish dialogue would be a thing of beauty, also we already know that she can play a doctor, lol
Actually the casting of this character just reminded me how very few mainstream Asian American actresses there are out there. I defy you to tell me that your first reaction wasn't just to think "Lucy Liu". You know it was! And then after that you were probably like ... ah, Ming Na, um, Margart Cho, Sandra Oh, ah, Michelle Yeoh ...um, Boomer, or Sun from lost ... ooh, or that chick from Relic Hunter. Then if you got really desperate, you were maybe like, ah Kristi Yamaguchi, Connie Chung?
Or if you're me you mourned that you couldn't throw Gong Li's name into the hat because her English isn't quite there yet (*dreamy sigh* Oh, Gong).
Also, because I just finished watching "Skinwalkers" I'll just say it's a shame that Natassia Malthe is such an incredibly bad actress, like painfully, horribly, I wonder how she keeps getting jobs shit actress, because she is absolutely stunning and kind of reminds me of some pictures of Dr. Mann. But she's so horrible, that I really only brought her up cause she pretty and you might want to look at some pictures of her or something.
Hero = Jennifer Carpenter, I think she's practically perfect for it. Check out an episode of Dexter and tell me if you couldn't see her in the role. Also, I think she looks remarkably like comic Hero.
Someone also suggested Piper Perabo, and while having Piper in the movie would automatically increase the les!yay but a gajillion times and make the idea of Hero being straight (which I already kind of don't believe, lol) completely unbelievable, I'm not sure how sold I am on the idea.
I'll admit that I'm a bit of a tough sell on casting Hero though because I like the idea of Jennifer Carpenter so much (see comments of Traci Thoms)
So if you are at all familiar with the series, what do you think?

Heroes to get even sexier! Awesome
Jun. 1st, 2007 07:23 pmDania Ramirez, who played Callisto in X-Men: The Last Stand and has a recurring role on "The Sopranos," has been added as a regular on the NBC's hit series "Heroes." The show returns for a second season in the fall.
Ramirez will play Maya, a new hero whose powers are being kept under wraps.
"Heroes" extends Ramirez's relationship with NBC. This past development season, she co-starred in the network's drama pilot "Fort Pit."
Maya is one of four to five new characters expected to be added to "Heroes" next season, but her character might be the only regular one. The other roles, most of which are said to have international flavor, include a sexy boyfriend for Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki's (Ali Larter) son and an Irish mobster.
( Dania Ramirez Pretty )
Dania Ramirez ... so pretty! I really liked her as Callisto in X3, and was pissed when she bit it, so it'll be awesome to see her playing anothermutant special metahuman um, hero (what are the people with abilities called on this show anyway?)
If Ramirez is playing a character that is totally badass like Callisto, Larter is going to have some competition for thumpingist female cast member!
a sexy boyfriend for Claire
Whatever. I'm already slashing Claire with the new gay cheerleader, April. So you can shove your 'sexy boyfriend for Claire' in a sock, mister!
a surrogate for Niki's (Ali Larter) son
This confuses me however. [Overly dramatic voice]I ... don't ... under ... stand![/ODV]
