When did Narcissa become Rogue??? Is she gonna have a bad southern accent and green leotards too?  UGH!  I thought I couldn't have hated this casting anymore and now this comes out.  Seriously, I'm sure Helen McCrory is a fine actress and human being, but they should have just hired a fucking blonde (or at least someone who fakes being blonde well).  I mean, all we know about Narcissa is that she's blonde and Draco's mom, and now they've gone and fucked with half of that.

*sigh*  The only thing I can hope for is that there'll be more Narcissa in the movie than in the book since the studio has such a hard-on for Helen McCrory.  And that more Narcissa will translate to more Narcissa and Bellatrix on screen together.

*double sigh* At least HBC still looks like perfection.  And it also looks like Bellatrix and Narcissa are eye!sexin' in that pic, which is cool.

I've always pictured either Cate Blanchett or Naomi Watts as Narcissa. So I was pretty excited when there were rumors that Naomi got the part. Then they had to go and disappoint with casting McCrory. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Cissy the youngest of the Black sisters? Because this actress looks much older than HBC.

i thought joely richardson would have been perfect. she's actually who i pictured as i read the books. i have nothing against conroy...but i think this is a huge misstep in casting.

I liked the idea of Joely Richardson as well. The only reservation I had about her was that she would tower over HBC, but McCrory towers over her as well and is all wrong so who cares is Joely's tall too. Even my new favorite could-have-been Keeley Hawes would have towered over HBC so whatever. HBC is short, I've dealt with it.

True. I feel like a mean whore for ragging on the woman like this, but she was just miscast. I don't dislike her, and she's probably a very good actress, she's just wrong for Narcissa.

Very true (which I realized when I started thinking about actresses I would have rather seen in the role). HBC is a wee tiny thing, so once I accepted that height no longer had to be a consideration. I mean, even Watts would have been taller than her.

*sigh* I really mourn the fact that Richardson isn't Narcissa. Her eyes are what really tip the scale in her favor for me, she would have been great.

Yes, Narcissa is the baby. She's actually supposed to be like a good 6 years younger than Bellatrix. Helen McCrory is actually younger than HBC, but she LOOKS older and that's what really counts. Right now, I'm really wishing that they had cast Keeley Hawes (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y295/fembuck/11753.jpg). Narcissa likely had Draco young (19 or 20-ish) so she looks old enough to be his mother, but she still looks much younger than HBC.

You can't tell me it's not true! You know you would weep! Just imagine Cate singing "Amazing Grace" as all of the slaves flock to her in a magical wooded glade. It would be like when she was Gladrial, only she would look more that Gladriswhna and would be singing spirituals instead of speaking elfish.

They would cry from the beauty of her. They would get the Canadian border and weep at having to leave her gloriousness.

LOL. I think my subconscious agrees with you. I had the weirdest dream last night about being discovered as a hack after a messed up a line of MacBeth's "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow" soliloquy. And then like they searched me for drugs, but I hid the drugs on a really high self, but then they found them and I was all like "Let me look at that" and touched the bottle, and then I was "No, they're not mine" thereby giving myself a credible alibi if they finger printed it. And then the lady that accused me was all like "you shouldn't have let her touch that, now she has an excuse", but the principle was all like "would this face lie?" and I shook my head 'no, no it wouldn't' ... and then I can't really remember what happened ...

I just checked and Narcissa is actually four years younger than Bellatrix, which isn't as bad (I had kind of figured each of the sister's being a year apart when I first started writing the blackcest)

lol. If it was Naomi I probably still would have bitched. If it was Cate I would have been too busy bowing down and thanking Jesus that she was cast to be too upset about. I'd be like "fuck yeah, Cissy has Rogue hair! She can do whatever she wants! It's Cate Blanchett", and then I probably would have given serious thought to getting Rogue hair myself. *I love you Cate, I love you!*
