OMG, this book is taking me forever to get through. It's going so slowly for me. This is why I can't handle Primetime dramas. I don't give a shit about the minutia of people's lives. SOLVE A CRIME OR SOMETHING! BLOW SOME SHIT UP! STUPIDLY SNEAK IN SOMEWHERE! Good God, I miss the idiotic breaking and entering. TURN INTO A MINK AGAIN!
Alas, poor Plot! Remember it, Kim? It was thing of
of infinite imagination, of most excellent intrigues: it hath
borne me on many different adventures; and now, how
bored I am without it! my gorge rims at the lack of it.
Once there was action and I consumed it
oft. Where be your techniques of creating suspense now? your
pacing? your descriptions of long onyx hair instead of chest hair?
your flashes of lesbian desire, that were wont to set Ivy's couch on a roar?
Please F-list, tell me that this was like an off year for Kim, and the next book isn't this tedious. She's seriously killing my buzz with this shit. It's ... it's ... believe me when I say that I DON'T want to say this ... but ... it's starting to feel like reading Twilight! I'm just like, "Shut the fuck up
P.S. I'm guessing that Nick does something seriously douchey at the end of this book, because every seems to hate him, but about 3/5ths of the way through Book Three he doesn't seem that bad. Frankly, I would've left town for a while with Rachel tapping ley lines like it was her bachlorette party all the fucking time ... heating up her coffee and shit. Daaaaamn.
I'm actually kind of sad Nick'll turn out to be a huge asshole because so far I like him better than Kisten (fuck, what a stupid ass name ... apologies if there are any Kisten's on my f-list, I'm sure the name has a wonderful history that I'm just igorant of.)

Date: 2009-01-15 12:26 am (UTC)But I'm not going to lie. Kim seems to try very hard to set up these hetero pairings for Rachel and they all seem to go wrong somehow. She doesn't even seemingly have to try and she writes great girl on girl.
I'm kinda pessimistic with the whole Ivy/Rachel thing, but I'm addicted so I don't have a choice but see it through, never mind the pain. Fan fiction is my salve for that.

Date: 2009-01-15 09:52 pm (UTC)lol, I don't hate him, I don't love him but it can be alright. Sometimes. When he's not involved in 15 page sex scenes, lol. Still, I won't cry when he's gone ... maybe a sniffle.
also book 4 is my favourite when it comes to Ivy/Rachel.
Sweet!

lol! It's like, just go with the flow, gurl. Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)
Fan fiction is my salve for that.
Word. Sweet, sweet fanfic. It solves almost all ills.
No worries, but...
Date: 2009-01-15 01:09 am (UTC)Oh, and about the name Kisten, it's supposed to be a sort of stone coffin containing money (?), or so KH claims on her site. I swear, I'm not making this up. Coming from the woman who named a vampire Ivy -> I.V. (again, she admitted it), nothing surprises me anymore. She has those very kitsch moments, it seems...

A bit like a sneeze that just won't come out (of the closet).
Love = this comment!

Ugh. That doesn't make it okay, Kim. *wags finger in her general direction*

God, I'm so slow, I didn't even pick up on that. At least, Ivy is a real name. Kisten is just awkward. It's very Harlequin romance novel (which is not a good thing).

Date: 2009-01-15 09:58 pm (UTC)THANK GOD! Book Three has been kind of killing Ravy for me. It really highlights the dysfunctionalness of Ravy without having any of the 'aw' moments that make the dysfunctionalness seem worth it. Light at the end of the tunnel, I'm a coming baby!
Rachel is still stupid in so many ways, but she's beginning to acknowledge that.
Rachel being dumb is kind of a given. I'm just glad that she won't be annoying and dumb anymore.
Maybe she'll wisen up for the new book coming out in February.
*crosses fingers*

Date: 2009-01-15 02:11 am (UTC)Three is definitely the weakest of the books so far, it just kind of wallows in itself (I hardly even remember what happens in it, actually I don't remember at all).

Date: 2009-01-15 10:00 pm (UTC)Does it happen in book three or four? I'm almost finished three now, and I haven't really seen the douchiness. I'm looking forward to it though. Douchey people make me laugh (as long as I don't have to associate with them).

OMG! This is the perfect description of book three. Everything just goes on, and on, and on, sucking forever. It's soul crushing.

Date: 2009-01-15 10:05 pm (UTC)I can't wait until it is a distant memory for me as well. I want to remember the introduction of Skimmer and Erica, and that's it. The only enjoyable part of the book so far *sigh*
there's this Ravy scene that eclipses all the hetero sex scenes by a mile and no shedding of clothing was involved.
*expectations ... building ... cannot ... wait!*
Kisten's not that bad, if only because he rouses Ivy's "her blood is mine! she's mine!" instincts lol.
Ivy's "She's mine, I will kill you twice" reactions are priceless and hawt. Or at least it should be hawt, but because the friendship seems so one-sided right now, it's coming off as kind of sad and pathetic. And Ivy should NOT be sad and pathetic. Tortured and brooding, yes. Sad and pathetic, no.
blonde men don't do a thing for me though
LOL! Me either generally. I think I like Nick better right now because he's a brunette (and doesn't speak in a fake British accent)

Oooh, I can't wait. I don't mind being teased as long as its the good kind!
Keep on trucking if you can manage, the pay off is fantastic
I shall overcome! Book 4 here I come!
