She's definitely a better model than an actress. But she generally doesn't 'wow' me as a model, she's simply not offensive as a model, lol. But between the two professions, I'd encourage her to stick with the modeling.

Unscientific or not, I think you're right. There are so many actresses who I find completely mesmerizing on screen, but in pics they are just kind of whatever (i.e. Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller). Almost mind-blowingly radiant and sexy and captivating on screen, but to me blah in pictures. But as soon as they are moving and talking, it's like *drool*
And then there are those really luck bastards like Milla Jovovich and Eva Green who look good no matter what the medium is. Acting, modeling, jam making, they are perfection.

I'll give her that in these latest pictures, she's definitely looking beautiful, but I think the thing about her is that, she was a cute kid, who grew up into an above-average-looking woman. She's really, really, pretty. Like, way prettier than those you encounter in your own life, but I mean, she's not Grace Kelly. She still has kind of a freckled, girly innocence to her that kind of undercut the haute couture stylings.

Date: 2009-08-21 12:17 am (UTC)I think this is it exactly! She really is above-average looking, and quite pretty (though I personally don't find her sexy), but she's still too youthful (or maybe innocent) in appearance to really pull of the haute couture stylings.
It's like when you see this (http://i.models.com/oftheminute/archives/images/Filipahamilton.jpg) (she's basically the same age as Emma in this picture), it's "RAWRRRRRRR" and when you see Emma (http://www.sugarslam.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/emma-italian-vogue-3.jpg) it's "rawr".
Although, I have to say, I just saw this (http://stylefrizz.com/img/emma-watson-vogue-italia-october-2008.jpg) picture, and she looks really fucking cool in it. Like, a would put that picture up against a number of professional models pictures and it would win. Maybe Emma just needs a couple more years on her to get her fierce in full effect.

I never liked Emma much in Harry Potter either. I don't think she can act very well. You could say that the scripts don't exactly allow the actors to dazzle, but honestly, the veteran actors nail everything (complaining about Gambon aside) and even young actors like Tom Felton are able to do a lot with the stuff their given. The main trio just aren't that good.
Seeing Dakota Fanning for the first time after her little hiatus freaked me out. But with the New Moon and Runaways filming I've seen so many pictures of her lately, that I am now used to teenage!Dakota. I don't want to hit it, but she's an amazing actress and she can take some fierce photos too.
