An insecure tomboy, Carter works at a local bait shop after school and dreams of going to the school dance with her crush, Donny, the school hunk. Rosie quickly becomes popular at school which Carter must learn to accept but the two also form a close bond as Carter helps Rosie transform into a normal teenager and Rosie shows Carter how to find the princess within herself.

Princess Protection Program

I'm kind of in love with this movie.  This movie is like the surprised kitten video on youtube, it just makes me happy inside.  I mean it's completely ridiculous, but it's so much fun.

Nobody's gonna be winning any Oscars any time soon, but Demi Lovato and Selena were both perfectly charming in their as Rosie and Carter, respectively.  I'd seen Demi/Selena rpfs pop up every once and while, and now I understand why!  The two have really good chemistry together in this, and are highly enjoyable to watch on screen together.

Adorable, n'est-ce pas ?

Which naturally leads me to the gay.  And gay there was!  I mean, fuuuuuuuuu, this movie had the ending the ending that I wished Bitch Slap had.

Carter rocked the Lil' Butchy McFabulous vibe.  Girl had swagger, and has the voice of 20s lounge singer.   [chagrined]Sex-ay[/chagrined].  Seriously, I would have crushed on Carter so hard in High School ... and do now as well.  Snark, swagga, whiskey honey voice, willingness to touch lizards and bugs and other gross things I wouldn't want to touch, plaid cut off vest, sexy pony tail, masked heroic adventures ... *swoon*.  What's not to love?  And just in case you were wondering, she also has an infectious laugh.

What ... um ... oh yes, where was I ... ah of course, the gay!

The Oddly Perfect Couple

I loved how completely smitten Rosie was with Carter from like the first moment they met.  If I took a drink every time Rosie gazed softly and lovingly at Carter I would have had to have been taken to the hospital with alcohol poisoning.   They were just utterly and completely adorable together.  For example:

- Carter dumping ice-cream on that dilholes head to avenge Rosie
- Bonding on the swing over Rosie's ability to burp and their understanding that they're not so different after all
- Rosie's super fun, super helpful, super gay girl bonding lessons about what it means to be a princess
- And of course the "I hate you, no not like that, 'I hate you as in you're my best friend'" scene of incredible gayosity and cuteness

are just a few of the wonderful scenes between these two.

Rosie's earnestness and strength of character combined with Carter's abashed affection and dashing acts of bravery made them OTP level awesome for me.

Also, it warms my heart that in the end it wasn't a matter of neither of the girls getting boy, but of neither of the girls wanting the boy.

Granted we were a little bit tipsy when we watched this - and still may or may not be - but this was a very pleasant film.  I might find the earnestness with which I wrote this review to be highly embarrassing come morning, but I found this movie highly enjoyable and I think you just might too *nods slowly, sagely and encouragingly*

Also, I saw the Invention of Lying earlier on today and really enjoyed it.  But seeing JGar and her crazy toned arms made me really miss Alias.  *sigh*  I've got to get my hands on some Alias episodes and revel in the nostalgia.

Like everyone else has already said, that is one homo-fabulous movie.

It really, really, really is completely homo-fabulous. When Rosie was telling Carter how beautiful she was in front of the mirror I pretty much thought they were going to kiss.

And I absolutely believe that it would've been the perfect platform for Disney to introduce a lesbian pairing, because like you said, it was pretty much unspoken canon.

Disney's not that brave. I mean we just got The Princess and the Frog in 2009. It's gonna take them like another 10 years to have an out gay lead character in a film.

and Selena's looking into the camera? My god, she looked like pure sex.

Selena was pure sex throughout that whole video. OMG GOMEZ!! AGE FASTER!!!

if you were to write a Carter/Rosie,

I'm giving this a go write now!

or any other pairing of the character's that they've played, fic.

I'd love to write Alex Russo femslash too, but she and Harper just aren't gay enough together, and the other female characters Gomez has chemistry with are only on for like an episode *sigh*

Oh, and I just finally finished reading The Edge (I know, really behind), but I just want to say, twas amazing, and damn I was sad when I finished it. I didn't want it to be over.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. That was a project the likes of which I've never taken on before. It was hard for me to end it too. I still can't believe my longest, most detailed story is Twilight based though, lol.

There were many times I thought they were going to kiss. Especially when they hug on the roof after Carter's dad goes after General Kane.

The first time I watched the movie though (before I was even in the Demi/Selena fandom as a whole), the thing that got to me the most was when Rosie tells Carter 'you may help me prepare for bed'. I think my eyes might've bugged out and I spit my tea.

Disney's not that brave. I mean we just got The Princess and the Frog in 2009. It's gonna take them like another 10 years to have an out gay lead character in a film.

*sighs* That's true. Ha, I'm trying to keep the faith though, and hope that there will be an openly gay character soon. Even more hopeful that Selena will play said character.

Selena was pure sex throughout that whole video. OMG GOMEZ!! AGE FASTER!!!

I think we're all wanting her to age faster. The only other actress I've ever wanted to age faster was Emma Watson, but even with her, it wasn't to the extent that it is with Selena. It's not fair for someone that age to be so damn hot.

I'd love to write Alex Russo femslash too, but she and Harper just aren't gay enough together, and the other female characters Gomez has chemistry with are only on for like an episode *sigh*

I love Harper, I really do, but I can't ship her and Alex. I don't know why. But I ship the hell out of Alex/Juliet. Have you seen the episodes "Tutor, My Tutor" and "Three Monsters"? Those are some pretty gaytastic episodes of Wizards.

I mostly ship Alex and Mitchie (Demi's character from Camp Rock) or Alex and Sonny (Demi's character on Sonny with a Chance). I don't know if you saw Camp Rock or watch Sonny with a Chance, but if you need to pair Alex with someone, those are some good choices.

Oh, also if you haven't already, you should watch the episode of SwaC "Battle of the Network Stars". Selena's in it and she plays herself, and Selena/Sonny have some pretty gay moments.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. That was a project the likes of which I've never taken on before. It was hard for me to end it too. I still can't believe my longest, most detailed story is Twilight based though, lol.

It was a truly amazing fic. And, honestly, it's what got me in the fandom anyway. I had no interest in Twilight or anything before I read your fic for them and then I was just hooked, at least with Bella/Alice, anyway. Of course, I'm pretty sure you could rope me into any fandom with your fics. I've never seen an episode of Blade the Series, but my god did I love your Krista/Chase fics. Ha, and your fics in general give me the warm fuzzies as your fic "A Thin Line" for Popular popped my fanfic cherry.
