H.G's back and Myka's still totally gay for her! YAY!

(click pic to download)
H.G. Wells makes this show so much more enjoyable. Seriously. Smirk on Jaime Murray, smirk on.
In addition to H.G. being a hot, suave, clever, dashing, and charming badass female, this was the episode of good girlfriending. Myka was in fine form this episode, fighting fiercely forher lover H.G.
First, Joanne Kelly rocked that suit she was wearing throughout most of that episode. I could have watched Myka sitting on that park bench in that suit for 42 minutes and been completely entertained.

Mm. With the umbrella and jacket sitting beside her she just reminded me of a dashing Victorian gentleman in this shot. The outfit probably made H.G. feel right at home, lol.

H.G. tugged at my heartstrings Maura Isles style in this scene. I just wanted to wrap her up in my arms and give her a plastic police badge I'd found in my cereal box so that she'd know that I need her. In addition to Jaime just making my heart ache, I loved the connection between Myka and H.G in this scene. When Myka was all, "Bronzing was your time machine," the understanding in her voice made me swoon. And then once Myka sat down beside H.G. I just pretty much wanted them to kiss the rest of the time they were on screen together.

At least Myka got H.G.'s number. And because it bears repeating, Myka's outfit in this scene gave me the down low tickle. I'd have given her my number too!

This picture gets posted, simply because of Myka's "And I knew you slipped a tracker in my pocket at the funeral" line. Now matter how you interpret Myka choosing to let H.G. track her all over the world, it's awesome. Myka wanted H.G. to be able to make booty calls? Awesome. Myka wanted H.G. to be able to find her if she was in trouble? Awesome. Myka thought that they would need H.G.'s help so kept the tracker on her? Awesome. Either way, it shows how much trust Myka has in H.G. and shows how much she respects her abilities. Awesome.
Plus the, "I knew that you'd know that I knew that you slipped it into my pocket" part of the exchange was mint. I love their banter!

I love what a third wheel Pete was in this scene, and that he seemed to know it. The way H.G. kept her eyes on Myka the whole time, and would gaze and smile flirtatiously at her was entirely composed of win. Pete's face in the second pic says it all, "They're gonna make out tonight and I'm totally not gonna get to watch". I'd be sad too Pete.

This moment cracked me up. Myka and H.G. just losing their shit on Pete was funny, but I also loved how harmoniously they work together already. All on the same side of the table picking through Arty's bag together, screeching at Pete together. And all throughout this scene every time the camera focused on Myka, you could see H.G right in the corner because they were standing so close together it was impossible to just get a shot of Myka. CLOSE PROXIMITY = GHEY!
Poor Pete having to deal with two Myka's. They will always pwn him. But, lucky audience!

H.G's got a gun! I seriously loved H.G.'s tiny little Victorian lady gun. I loved when she tucked it into her waistband even more. I already knew I had a thing for hot ladies holstering their weapons (thank you Olivia Dunham!), but this just confirmed it. Also, I love what H.G. is a crack shot even when dying of hypothermia. Bitch is badass!

Lookee how happy Myka is now that H.G's been made an Agent. She's so happy she can get the sex in her own bed tonight instead of slipping out to meet H.G. at a motel. If I had free access to sexing H.G. whenever I wanted, I'd be smiling like Myka too! Go get it gurl!
And now ... a collage of Myka being a fierce defender!

I loved how passionately she defended H.G. throughout the entire episode. She took Arty on numerous times during the episode to stick up for her gal pal, and for that I applaud her. Also the look on Myka's face when she asked if H.G. had been bronzed again, killed me. She looked so scared and heartbroken (see bottom, right picture). I just wanted to hug her forever.
Didn't care about Claudia and Todd and was distracted by how oddly poofy Claudia's hair was all episode. Bye Todd, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Though I will admit that scene of Claudia and Todd in the park struggling awkward to remove their weapons was pretty hilarious.
I really do love Pete and Myka together (as friends and partners with no romantic subtext whatsoever). Pete's still a bit goofy for me sometimes, but their banter is really funny. I loved the scene with the hand gestures that Myka couldn't understand followed by the "bye honey" fake-out awkwardness.
I liked Arty's back story and sympathized with him for most of the episode (I'm with Pete I imagine most people would have done the same thing if they thought that artifacts were just useless junk), but at the end I ended up thinking Arty is a huge asshole once again. He's such a whiny little baby. I can't believe that he actually stormed out at the end like a three year old that wasn't given ice-cream. What a poor fucking sport. It's like, if he doesn't trust her, fine. But he could have acted like an adult about it. And [Claudia]Dude[/Claudia] having her at the Warehouse is a good way of keeping track of her. Plus, acting like a grownup instead of a punk ass bitch and shaking her hand might have gotten her to let her guard down around you and made it easier for you learn more about her and possibly more about what she's up to. Acting like a total wiener is just going to make her be on guard around you. Ugh. If he knows another story about why H.G. was bronzed then he should come out and say it, because his not liking her "just because" reflects poorly on him.
Overall, really good episode.

P.S. I just posted a trailer for Merlin season 3 and a Morgana picspam from it. It's looking good!

Date: 2010-09-02 06:25 am (UTC)Seriously, I would just watch the three H.G. episodes. H.G. is really what's keeping me hooked on the show right now, episodes without her bore me.
And Morgana is looking fierce as hell! I'm really looking forward to the Morgana, and the Morgana/Morgause screen time this season. They could have at least shown Gwen in the trailer though!

Date: 2010-09-05 10:45 pm (UTC)So true. Arty is lime green jello. HG's hot shit and he's just cold diarrhea.
I really hope they don't make HG evil. A bit morally ambiguous, fine, but evil and I'm outta there. I couldn't handle Arty's smug ass being right about her. Plus, Jaime Murray is the reason I'm still watching.

Date: 2010-09-02 06:30 am (UTC)This is pretty much the only thing keeping me regularly watching the show. I don't want to miss an H.G. appearance. For me at least, Jamie Murray has brought an energy and swagger to the show that it desperately needed.
Artie... hasn't ever really connected for me, even though i'm aware that he's essential to the show-- but i'd rather have Tia Carrere be his replacement ANY day! or even Mrs. Fredrick seems more... compelling.
This. I've never warmed to Arty as a character at all. He's tolerable in some episodes, but most of the time he bugs me. I would love to have had CCH Pounder/Mrs. Frederick as the agents handler instead. There's not enough Mrs. Frederick on the show.
but they make Claudia so much un-cooler than usual. so is she a teenager or twenty-something?
I haven't really been digging Claudia this season (blasphemy I know). And I think it's because she comes across as a lot more immature this season. I think on the show she's supposed to be 19. Last season she felt/acted more like she was in her early-twenties. I don't really enjoy teen!Claudia and her awkward romances.
besides Sy-Fy could stand to have a lot more femslashy subtext in their shows.
Word.

Date: 2010-09-02 02:25 am (UTC)Boo for Artie's bitching. I'm feeling pessimistic about all those manpain anvils, because you know they'll try and turn H.G. bad just to satisfy that crap. I wish they'd surprise me, and hand Artie's whiny ass back in a warehouse special handbasket. A girl can dream. Meanwhile, Myka made me go all awww with her defense of her girl.

Date: 2010-09-02 06:35 am (UTC)I know! I love how Myka/H.G. is always juxtaposed with the other couples on the show. Of course, they are the best couple. It's sad that the two people with the most romantic chemistry on the show will never actually get to hook up on screen. *sigh*
And I'm so happy that H.G. is an agent again. I hope we're in for many H.G./Myka scenes in upcoming episodes. Even the Myka/Pete/H.G. out on assignment dynamic could be very fun.
I'm feeling pessimistic about all those manpain anvils, because you know they'll try and turn H.G. bad just to satisfy that crap.
Oh, I know. I desperately want Arty to be wrong about her. I don't care about Arty's manpain. I don't want H.G. to be evil just because Arty says she is. Let's not do the cliche thing and have the British woman be evil.
And Myka defending H.G. throughout was just swoon-worthy. Myka has surprised me by being a pretty awesome TV!Girlfriend.

Date: 2010-09-02 04:02 pm (UTC)And Myka's
cracked me up as well, and made me squee so hard. She was so happy to see her girlfriend.
I really hope that H.G. is a regular in season three. I don't mind a bit of gray in her and some moral ambiguity, but I don't want her to be a bad guy and I'd like to see a redemption arc with her. I don't want her demonized and kicked off the show, because H.G./Jaime is what's keeping me tuned in right now.
no subject
Date: 2010-09-02 04:18 pm (UTC)ooh I'd love it if they kept the whole moral ambiguity angle just so we can see Myka being all defensive of her girlfriend, lol.

Date: 2010-09-02 04:06 pm (UTC)And Genelle Williams (aka Leena) is indeed pregnant. Not that Leena has ever had much to do. I think they can add Jaime to the cast and still have Leena mucking about as well.

I didn't even THINK of that! *oogles pic* Holicrap, I knew I liked the outfit already, but that puts it on a whole new level of cool. *making list for fic* Victorian-style dream sequence, definite must-have.
Also the look on Myka's face when she asked if H.G. had been bronzed again.
THIS. And the fact that it WAS Myka bustin' through the door, demanding answers. Her deer-in-the-headlights look at H.G. before she ran after Artie was so "awwww"-inducing - she's caught between her "family" and her girlcrush, and it looks like it's starting to dawn on her. Plus, did'ja hear her when she started yelling after Artie? "Don't you DARE just walk away!" I lol'd. Sticking-up-for-your-woman 101, Myka, you passed.
As for Artie being pissed . . . I think after McPhearson apologized (and thanks to the whole Pheonix-sharing thing) Artie went back to seeing him more as the agent he was before and not the bad guy that tried to kill them. And H.G. did kill him. Current baddie or not, he was Artie's partner at one time, and wanting to capture him (or kill him yourself) is a lot different than the reality of someone else murdering him right in front of you. Thinking that way, Artie's got a bunch of unresolved anger for her right off the bat. Add into that the fact that he knows she's incredibly intelligent/manipulative/etc - he knows she was bronzed, which has to make her dangerous, but he might not know / believe she CHOSE to be bronzed. And he knows that McPhearson chose to de-bronze her for a reason, which probably means (in his mind) that she'd be an asset to take over the world. Between that kind of "professional" distrust and his personal pissed-off-ness, and the Regents reinstating her under his command in "his" Warehouse, with "his" people . . . he's probably not going to warm up to her anytime soon, no matter WHAT she does.
That said, I'm still hoping for moar Myka/Wells goodness. xD

Date: 2010-09-03 07:27 am (UTC)This! Myka made good girlfriending an art form in this episode. She was so dreamy. HG's a lucky gal!
And I fully admit I had forgotten about Arty's epic man-crush on MacPherson when I went on my Arty rant, and his hostility does make A LOT more sense in that regard. But I still think he was acting like a whiny, punk ass bitch.
When he stormed out of the room, his storming out was going to change exactly nothing. The Regents had made up their minds, HG had her shiny badge, she was back in. At that point, it becomes a matter of managing her not shutting her out. Throwing a temper tantrum helps nothing. Arty's best play at this point is to lull HG into a false sense of security and to keep her close by so that he knows what she's up to (while having Claudia secretly upgrade a whole bunch of systems and planting as many bugs, etc. as possible on HG without her knowing and getting spycams up all over the Warehouse). Letting her know that he hates her and doesn't trust her just gives her the advantage of knowing she has to be SUPER SKERT SNEAKY if she really is up to no good, which helps her!
I honestly don't have a problem with Arty thinking she's evil, I just wish that he had like shaken her hand, told Claudia to set her up with her access codes or whatever, and then when he got up to walk away the camera zoomed in on his face which was wrathful. Saul's a good actor, he could have sold that. He could have let us know exactly how Arty felt about HG with a look. That way the audience knows Arty doesn't trust her but HG doesn't have confirmation of it and Arty has the upper hand for the moment.
Instead he acted like a three year old whose mom took away his juice.
I'm always hoping for a buttload of Myka/HG goodness, and I'm also hoping that HG is gray instead completely!evil. HG has made this show enjoyable for me again and I want her to stick around, hopefully for next season as well and not as a Big Bad.

If she has scenes with Lucy Lawless I will be the happiest girl in the world (especially if any of those scenes take place in a bath, lol)

Date: 2010-09-05 09:59 pm (UTC)The level of H.G./Myka subtext in this episode was seriously high.
"If he knows another story about why H.G. was bronzed then he should come out and say it, because his not liking her "just because" reflects poorly on him." -- Amen.

Date: 2010-09-05 10:28 pm (UTC)It really was. She was dashing as hell in that outfit. I wanted her to escort me places and kiss my hand, lol.
And the HG/Myka subtext was so out of control. Joanne and Jaime has amazing chemistry together. Every time Myka and HG are on screen together they are super gay. They are honestly the best couple of the show. What I love about them is that even the haters on TWoP see the gay and want it to become reality.
