Lost Girl - 1x08 - "Vexed" is INSANE!

You guys, this episode of Lost Girl was so surreal.  It's like, since the pilot there's been the actual Lost Girl and then in my mind there's been the 'Lost Girl that 'could be'.  This episode was like the Lost Girl that could be.  But it was so weird to watch because there was like no hint from the previous episodes that it was going get good like this!  CAUSE OMG THIS EPISODE.

I've put all of my live-action reactions to the episode behind the cut as usual, but I almost want to tell you not to read it so that you can experience this ... whatever this was of an episode fresh.

Best music video opening sequence goes to Lost Girl.  It was like George Micheal's "Freedom" video up in there ya'll.  I kept on expecting to see Christie Turlington in a bathtub.  But as much as I complain about Dyson, and the over-abundance of Bo/Dyson sex scenes, I have to say this one can stay, because even though it was kind of creepy, it was also pretty hot.  Also, Lost Girl now officially features ass!

Dyson:  She's just using you.  She'll never love you.
Bo:  Who said anything about love.  And you don't know that.
Me:  Ooo ... oh.

I don't quite understand Dyson's constant complaints that Lauren is using Bo currently though, since Lauren and Bo haven't so much as kissed.  I wonder if Bo's been letting him think that she and Lauren are doing a lot more in the lab together than they are.

Dr. Hot Pants.  Hey, Kenzi we can be friends again.

Um, I kind of really like Bo when she's being a violent asshole.  In fact I like her to a worrying degree. The show definitely needs to keep Anna Silk in minimal make-out because run-down Bo was all kinds of hot.  Seriously.  Bo is coming apart at the seams in this episode, but she's never been this hot to me - not even in the pilot which was when I previously thought Bo was at her hottest.

"I like your necklace."  Nice, Bo.  I think what you really meant to say was, "Heh, I touched your boob."

Ugh, screw you poorly planned season.  This conversation with Bo and Lauren - sexy and flirty as it is - and it is, seems like it should have happened in an earlier episode, because considering how long they've been working together on Bo's control it makes no sense that Lauren wasn't already aware of Bo's arrangement with Dyson.  UGH!  Writers I see you trying to shove information in there that should have been revealed in those Dr. Lauren-free episodes from earlier in the season.

Lauren:  *upon finding out about Bo's healing arrangement with Dyson*  As your doctor I'd just prefer if you choose someone ... slightly less well-traveled.
Me:  Heh.

UGH, what is it about this episode?  I actually really like this episode and the tone of it, but it's coming out of nowhere!  Bo's so intense and angry and hot but there's been like NO build up to it whatsoever.  Last week it was all awkward dates and fun with spiders, and now all of a sudden Bo is super-super-duper-duper about finding out who her mother was right this frakking minute goddammit I will cut it out of you!

Also, Bo and Dyson are barely even frenemies  currently but it's come out of nowhwere.  I mean, I know last week there was the Dyson/Lauren pissing contest over Bo and Dyson making his big 'No healing for you' pronouncement, but I still didn't expect that there would be THIS level of animosity between them.  It's like I'm watching another show, an intense, dark, sexy show.  I like.  I like.

Fussy!Lauren is CUTE!  She is precious when she's worrying about Bo's big-mouth getting her in trouble.

"Still so charming."  Heh.  Ash I've been sarcastically thinking the same thing about Bo for a while.

"I'm not finished yet!"  OH BO!  WHY ARE YOU SO SEXY WHEN YOU ARE ANGRY, BLOODY, AND VENGEFUL?

"Smells like fried bitch!"  OH KENZI!

OMG!  BO is such a MEGA-bitch this episode.  It's like she's on PMS steriods.  It's awesome.

So that conversation with the Ash and Lauren was interesting:
1)  I'm glad it's established here that Lauren has been completely on the up and up so far with what's she's told Bo and in terms of trying to help her.
2)  I don't like that the Ash is tryin' to pimp Lauren out.

So that conversation between Bo and Trick was interesting:
1)  I don't like that the Ash "owns" Lauren.  It does make me wonder what she did or who she pissed off enough that apparently she had to sell herself to the Ash for protection.  It does explain why she is so twitchy around him, and why Dyson is concerned about her loyalty.  As a human Lauren is obstensibly tied to the Ash more than a fae would be.

*cries*  I so don't like where I see this going ...

"At a certain point it's not about losing control anymore, it's about taking it" - interesting words Trick.

OMG!  BO HAS A WITCHBLADE!!!!

I like that Bo has a real reason for fighting for this woman so hard, and that it's all about her big emotional love for Lauren.  "And who would want to live it with me?"  OMG BO I WANT TO HUG YOU.

KISS FINALLY OMG KISS KISS KISS KISS!  MORE KISSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EVEN MORE KISSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OMG THEY"RE DOING IT!  THEY"RE DOING IT!  IN A BED!  NAKED!  ROLLING IN A BED  \\NOBODY OWNS YOU!  SEXY!@ OMG!

POST-COITAL 'I"LL BE BACK SOON' KISSES SO CUTE!!!!  WHA....NO!  NOT SO SOON DON'T TAKE IT AWAY SO SOON!

"I didn't do anything wrong?"  UM, LAUREN UR MY BB AND ALL, BUT THE FUCK YOU DIDN'T!?!?!?!  STILL I UNDERSTAND WHAT UR TRYIN TO SAY, BUT STILL ... DAMN LAUREN.

OH SHIT SHE'S GONNA GIVE HER THE NECKLACE BACK!  OH HELL SHE CALLED IT A DOG COLLAR!  OMG THIS EPISODE!

OH LAUREN YOU'RE SHAKING AND YOU'RE BREAKING MY HEART!

TRICK is Kaiser Soze?  WHAT?

I don't even remember what happens in the previews for next week.  I was too busy still freaking the hell out about this episode to really pay attention.

As soon as you see this episode you need to comment here because this episode has messed with my head and my heart and I need to ramble in caplocks with others about it!

I watched the show about 4 hours ago...I think I can properly put together a coherent sentence now...I think.

Wowzah! Ya know, it's interesting how another poster said this was the sample episode they used to get the go-ahead to produce a full season. I mean, I gotta give Anna Silk mad props, those are two seriously intense loves scenes she had to do on day one of her job. Bravo for diving in the deep end con mucho gusto!

Man, when Bo got all teary eyed after she found out that the Ash was pulling Lauren's strings all the way to her bedroom, my heart just broke for the girl. As much as I think Bo/Lauren have great chemistry, I felt, at least before this episode, that the way the story was written Bo was more into Dyson than Lauren. But this episode just shot that to shit. I mean, this episode kinda makes me see the previous episodes in a whole new light, sorta. Like, Bo was really trying hard to suppress her feelings for Lauren because she didn't want to set up her heart up for heartache since the whole human/fae combo wasn't in her cards.

I really liked the scene with the dark fae death row lady because you could her story really resonated with Bo and made her that much more invested in seeing that woman free, because it really was about Bo wanting to be free.

This episode was so tightly woven, I really hope the remaining episodes follow suit and I hope the handle the Bo/Lauren rift well and that we get an awesome make up scene. There really needs to be a least one scene where Lauren gets a little less logical and a little more emotional in her explanation of why she did what she did because the whole "I didn't do anything wrong" defense didn't really cut it. In fact, I may have to take a stab at writing it myself because I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait.

I have to say that this show is seriously reminding me of Season 1 Buffy. (Don't flame me over that! I said it "reminded" me of it, I didn't say it was as good as Buffy) Season one was a short midseason replacement and it was mostly a 'monster of the week' season, although the Master storyline was woven in there pretty consistently. I hope this show follows suit, because, as much as I love Buffy, I've had enough teenage angst in my shows for this lifetime. Bring on the adult angst!

I know. I felt so bad for her in this scene. I also felt awful for Lauren. Both of their hearts were just visibly breaking. But for Bo is was like her first heartbreak which had to make it really painful for her. With how super-romantic she had been about Lauren all episode as well, this was a real punch to the solar plexus for her.

Bo was really trying hard to suppress her feelings for Lauren because she didn't want to set up her heart up for heartache since the whole human/fae combo wasn't in her cards.

This is how I like to think about it. I always held onto the idea that Bo's hesitance to go further with Lauren wasn't out of a lack of interest or motivation, but out of a feeling of genuine caring. She cared about Lauren enough that she didn't want to risk her life, and this episode really goes along with that perfectly.

Oh, I know. The prison scene where Bo was getting a little misty-eyed clearly thinking about Lauren, and then later when B/L were on the couch and Bo was talking about the freedom to live the life she wanted ... *super swoon*

There really needs to be a least one scene where Lauren gets a little less logical and a little more emotional in her explanation of why she did what she did because the whole "I didn't do anything wrong" defense didn't really cut it.

Actually, I thought Lauren really kind of lost her cool this episode and it was fascinating and heartbreaking to see. Her being fussy before Bo's meeting with the Ash really showed her feelings, the way she literally jumped when the Ash told her to go after Bo, and then the shaking and misty-eyes when talking to Bo and then when going to Dyson for help.

I think the "I didn't do anything wrong" was something she said in a moment of panic that didn't really express the reality of the situation. Basically, Bo has proven to be the type that would have gone charging in there even if Lauren had told her that it would result in her death, so Lauren did the only thing she could think of to keep Bo in her house. It's like, "yeah, girl, you did do wrong, but your heart was in the right place."

I would like to see a desperate, teary Lauren going to Bo and trying to explain again, this time with enough time having passed that Bo can actually hear what she's saying.

*sigh* It's such an effed up situation. I understand both their points of views and feel so badly for them both. I WANT THEM TO WORK THINGS OUT AND SHARE SWEET LADY KISSES AGAIN!
