New Lost Girl!  Oh, yeah.

So there is Dr. Lauren, but I'll warn you now that there's not a lot of her.  And what you see of her will make you want to punch Bo square in the face (more than usual).

To lift your spirits I will say that the Succubus (Saskia?  Though most of the time it sounds like Bo is saying Seska) that Bo meets in this episode is awesome!  The actress playing her was brilliant and the character was tons of fun and worked really well with Bo.  They are a fun combo to watch together.

Thoughts:

Mmm, Knives.  Bo cleaning swords with her legs wide open while she drinks wine is HOT!   The fact that she's wearing the gayest vest in world while doing this also helps!

Kenzi: Honey, if I could give you the six inch all of your problems would be solved.
LOL  Kenzi, if you don't want me to ship you and Bo then don't say things like that while grinding up on her.

Bo:  I've tried.  Men, women, humans, fae.  That one time with a goat.  *pause*  Kidding.
Good one, Bo.  Way to funny.

Ooh, the case this week starts out creepy!

Bo's like a 15 year old child.  My god.  No wonder she gets along so well with Kenzi.

The Bo and Lauren reunion is painful and awkward, you guys!  Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.  I suppose the bright side is that Bo cared enough about Lauren to still be acting like an immature bitch about what happened?  And her anger means that she still cares a lot ... maybe ... possibly ...? *sigh*

Seriously, it was painful to watch. It was like watching an episode of The Office (UK). I almost couldn't look at the screen I was squirming so much. I just wanted to hug Lauren forever (and I've already written about my wanting to punch Bo square in the face).

(It was amusing though, how when Lauren said, "It appeared consensual" (in relation to sex a murder victim had) that Lauren was tense, as if she just knew it would send Bo into a complete shit-fit (which of course it did).)

Bo:  I've got three words:  Lauren, kiss-my-ass.  *pause* Lotta hyphen's in that last one.
Damn Bo, you so dumb.

Kenzi:  Little guy .. big mouth ... must knoooooow!
LOL OMG THAT LINE WAS PERFECTLY KENZI!  I love how painful it was for her NOT to be able to talk!

OMG Bo is so fucking melodramatic.  It's like watching watching a girl version of Big (with Tom Hanks) where Josh Baskin spends all of his time whining about how complicated things are with the hot people who wanna sex him up instead of doing fun things.

Kenzi:  Set phasers to DOUCHE.
LOL Kenzi!  I love you.

Oooh, succubus strut.  Me likey.  Eying Bo sexily.  Me likey even more.

Kenzi, quoting Ludacris during that speed dating date was HILARIOUS!  "Regret is for suckas, for suckas, for suckas.  Regret is for suckas, for suckas like you ... bitch!"

Kenzi:  Ver-gina

I love that bitches Occupations for Succubae List.  Perfection.

Succubus:  (incredulously) You work?
LOL what an awesome line!

Succubus:  Honey!  Succubus don't work! *laughs airily*
Oh, man.  I want the show to be about this chick!  Her life seems awesome.

[Upon being asked by Bo is she could sense any Fae the night she was in the bar.]
Succubus:  Sorry, Fae-dar isn't really a succubus gift.
LOL, this bitch is killing me!  She's so FABULOUS!

Succubus:  Besides, I wanna see you in action Nancy Drew!  It'll be interesting to see how the other side (people who work) lives.
LOL, seriously.  Showcase, can we keep her?  PLEASE!

*Is suddenly scared that that awkward scene of Dr. Lauren is the only Dr. Lauren we'll get  *shivers*  Cannot unthink that thought*

Bo looking at Other!Succubus as she Succubus'd that guy was pretty hot.  It reminded me of Cara kissing Darken Rahl while looking at Dahlia (only not as awesome) and anything that reminds me that is a-okay in my books.

Succubus:  You're kidding right!  You don't actually live like this, do you?
LOL.  Oh, you.

HA HA, BO!  A notepad?  You really are adorable sometimes (*narrows eyes*  sometimes!).

OH MAN, other!succubus doesn't sleep with succubus'  WHAAAAAA.  Why would you do that to me show?  Is it cause it would make me happy?  I mean, "I'm a novelty whore" was a great line, but not good enough for me to be happy about you taking away MORE girl-on-girl action!  Ahhhhhhh.  Why do you keep cock-blocking the GOGA!?!?!!  I swear to God, it's like Kim Harrison is a consultant on this show or something!  Other!Succubus is totally gonna get Skimmer'd!

Is other succubus named Seska?  Cause if so, I love her even more than before!  I'mma just call her Seska from now on.  It's my post I can do what I want to!

*Random:  The Tourist seems like it'll be a good movie*

Oh, man, this commercial break is killing me!  Bring the show back already!

Heh, there was a commercial for something called DYSON BALL on right before Dyson showed up on screen.

WHY'S DYSON BEING SO NICE?  HE'S MAKING ME ... LIKE HIM!  Ewww.  I do love that Bo has, like, Succubus!glow after spending time around Seska though.  Awesome.

What's an abastar?  Ugh, I hate it when shows do that.  At least Bo actually ran instead of pulling her usual Bo-ness and standing around while arguing about something.

"Women mostly.  Quelle surprise.  Puritan bastards."  Oh, Seska.  Lean and snark, baby.  Lean and snark.

Seska: This is fun, maybe I should get a hobby.
Bo: I'm converting you.
Seska:  Not if I convert you first.
[Girly slaps ensue]

OH, Bo/Seska I LOVE YOU TOGETHER!  SHOW DO NOT TAKE SESKA AWAY FROM ME!

Bo and Seska hunting together is HAWT!

So her name is Saskia?  Aw.  I got really found of the idea of her being called Seska.  Way to pronunciate for the first time 40 minutes in Anna Silk.

Un-Succubusing (de-succubusing?  Discuss) is pretty hot too!

Me likey the implication of un-Succubusing for Bo/Lauren once they get back together.  It means that Bo won't have to worry so much about losing control with Lauren, because if she takes a bit too much she can just give the energy right back to Lauren.

Bo's glowing eyes are stupidly hot.

"Bad news Bert!"  OMG SASKIA Y ARE YOU SO BADASS!  "Because I'm pretty goddamn shameless!"

"I'm thinking he's not gonna like this threesome.  At all."  Ha ha, Bo.  Good one.

You guise, I love Bo and Saskia together so much.  They don't even need to make-out, Saskia just needs to be all sweet and mentorly with Bo, while they investigate things together and then go party.  The investigation stuff has been so fun this week!

Bo, I'm sorry you are so dumb.  For real.  You are really, really dumb.  Giving up actually being to learn about what you are and how to control your powers and increase them to save the life of a woman hating, Dark Fae murderer who could get Saskia hurt if he tells the Morrigan about her attacking him to protect you is JUST DUMB!

Saskia and Lauren should commiserate about BO BEING  A JUDGMENTAL DUMB!

WOW BO YOU ARE A DOUCHE!  In so many ways.  Not only did that 'FUCK YOU, LAUREN' hug hurt Lauren, it was hurtful to Dyson too because of how obviously a 'FUCK YOU, LAUREN' hug it was, which makes him feel like he's being used.  DOUCHE ALL OVER THE PLACE.  Shoving him away like that at the last second before storming away was also very mature.

This episode more than any other has really gotten across the idea of how emotionally stunted Bo is.  The idea that the show-runner talked of about Bo essentially being a 15 year girl (or at least having the social skills of one).  Kenzi actually comes across as much more mature most of the time.

I love Bo's sulky pose.  That's the second time we've seen her sulking like that.

Bo and Kenzi really are like college roommates.  Bo looking at Saskia's jacket longingly .... promising (though it was also kind of douchey).  It undoes the hurt a little bit.  But, I still feel that with how soddily this show is written that Saskia will not be mentioned again all season.

Preview for next week:

A whole lotta Dyson shirtless and growling while showing off his fangs.  Dyson's seems angry about stuff and people think he killed some dude.  Bo seems unsure whether he killed that dude, Trick seems convinced he's going to be executed for killing that one dude, Hale says he's killed lots of dudes before this one and lots of people don't like him because of all of his dude-killing, and EMMANUELLE VARGIER (aka the Morrigan) wants his head.

No shots of Dr. Lauren were present.  This usually means there is no Dr. Lauren.  I am concerned.

The character has real potential, she also deserves better than just being Bo's sidekick.

Totally. That's something I've actually really liked about the last two episodes, was that Kenzi has had her own story line. Yes, her stories are still tied to Bo in a way because they involve Fae, but the plots haven't revolved around Bo.

But I'm also surprised at how easily and fast she went to trust the Succubus...She seemed to have the same easy trust with Lauren and Dyson on the romantic level.

I think it's all tying back into this idea that Bo is pretty emotionally stunted, so now that she's free to actually connect with people she just jumps right in without any hesitation (also see how she was instant BFFs with Kenzi).

And I love how Lauren quietly states that they were going to have sex eventually anyway.

This. I mean it's not like Lauren drugged Bo or anything. Lauren had made her interest clear before, and when she put herself out there Bo accepted.

I think Bo is trying to set up some rules for herself that reflect the struggle and ambivalence she has with her power : being fair and respect law is one of them.

See, I would buy this from another character, but Bo has been revengeful/law-breaking in the past. In addition to her constant breaking and entering, two episodes ago she was arming up with a unicorn blade to kill the Mesmer. So given the fact that Bo is willing to kill under certain circumstances (not relating to her succubus need for energy) it seems inconsistent character-wise that she would really care about this guy.

If I was Bo I would not have given up learning how to give people back life AND turned my back on someone who had just risked their life to save me in order to protect an unrepentant murderer.

I could see Bo being hesitant to kill him herself once he was neutralized, but Saskia did the dirty work. Honestly, trying to save him (knowing that the Dark Fae would not have given a shit about him killing humans) seems almost irresponsible because if he was saved he would have just gone back to killing people because it's what his species does.

But why don't they react to this?

Bad scripting. Though, I think Kris Holden-Reid did try to make something out of the scene. His face during the hug showed a certain uncomfortableness, and after Bo walked away there was a look on his face that seemed to show that he knew the hug was about hurting Lauren, not about him. A look (or even better a conversation) between Dyson and Lauren would have been nice though.

But in non-demo episodes it seems Lauren isn't allowed to speak unless Bo is on-screen.

Yes, she has, but I still think she tries to find a way to live her life and deal with her power according to some values. In the first ep., after "the test", she chose human, and her reaction to refuse murder is fairly human to me. The Fae agree your have the right to kill to defend yourself, the human society condemn that. What she has witnessed with Saskia in their last scene is what her power can become, I think she saw her as a role model but was deeply disappointed and deceived when she saw Saskia had no problem with killing (for example : the innocent speed dating guy). Her will to be on the human side is very important, that's why she is so strongly connected to Kenzi. And Lauren. For me, she feels more alone now, and would really need to talk about this/share this with Lauren but her anger is too strong and she doesn't know how to deal with it. She hugs Dyson, but it's Lauren she's looking for.

I buy that reasoning in theory, I just wish that the writers would be consistent with the character. I find it hard to reconcile that in one instant Bo does not have a problem trying to kill a dark fae murderer, while in another instant she DOES have a problem with the death a dark fae murderer.

But my main issue with Bo's decision is that if you really think about it, what she did puts people in danger instead of helping people (humans in particular).

The Fae do not operate like humans. This guy would not have been punished for killing humans anymore than the Ash or the Morrigan or anyone else seems interested in punishing Bo for the people she's killed. And the reason is because she's a succubus, it's what she does. Just like he's an abaster, it's what he does. Just like all of the other fae are protected for feeding off of humans because it's what they do.

So Bo, is actually endangering the lives of human woman when she tries to save him. Since Bo cares so much about humans her action here is actually IRRESPONSIBLE in a way because she knows that he will just be put back on the streets. The guy isn't going to jail, he's not going to be chemically neutered, he's not going to watched, he's just going to be released back onto the streets (with the added bonus of Saskia probably being punished or having to go on the run because she attacked one of her own).

In a way, the moral decision (from her human-centric viewpoint) should have been to let him die.

Also, if the abaster had killed Kenzi instead of some random woman, Bo would have killed him. There's no doubt in my mind that she would have killed him without a second thought. So, her actions seem hypocritical. Bo needs to either respect life even when it is inconvenient to her/she has been hurt by the criminal, or she needs to shut her mouth.

I think in fact it would have been really interesting to see what would have happened if the Dark Fae murderer had not died from the Succubusing. Bo would have wanted him to be judged, imprisoned, and would have realized that her choice to "respect law" is not valid in the Fae world. Like she realized during her meeting with the Ash that the Light Fae had no real problem with Lou being sentenced to death.

You're right : if he had killed Kenzi, she would have killed him with no second thought. But I don't think it makes her hypocritical. In every TV cop show, you have an ep. where the case of the week is too close to home for the main character and they can't act professional anymore. That's no excuse for Bo, and I agree : she's irresponsible, but mostly because she stubbornly wants and chooses to ignore the reality of the Fae world. And by doing so, she puts everyone in danger.

That being said, believe me, I'm not a fan of this character. Bo is selfish, stubborn, inconsistent, harsh, soooo spoiled, ans so on. I find it infuriating that the writers still think the viewers will unquestionably like Bo because she is sooo sexy, soooo betrayed by her lovers, soooo unhappy with her sex power of death. So much could be done with this character. And since they mainly focus on her, so little is done with the others. That they consider Lauren a recurring character, when it's the most interesting one, is beyond me (on the Showcase blog about LG, 3/4 of the comments want her back as a regular). I also wish Anna Silk's acting could improve. I can not relate to a character if the actor doesn't come and get me. I know I may be biased, since I'm so impressed by Zoie's acting, but in most of the scenes she shares with Anna, she is the one providing the emotion.

I would have loved to see this explored. It might have been what Bo really needs to hammer home to her how ruthless the Fae really are (and once she realizes that she might stop referring to the Ash as Lauren's "boss"!). It could have been a real opportunity for her to grow up, and realize that the world (Fae or otherwise) is not just going to conform to her will.

And by doing so, she puts everyone in danger.

Truth. I would have liked it if the writers had a character point out to her what a bad idea it was. Saskia could have easily broke how bad a decision it was down for Bo, but she didn't because the writers had to shuffle her off.

also wish Anna Silk's acting could improve. I can not relate to a character if the actor doesn't come and get me.

Word. Anna seems to be one of those actresses who needs a strong script to be able to deliver. When the writing on the show is good (i.e. 1x08) Anna can bring it. But she doesn't really rise above the sometimes stupid scripts the same way, Zoie Palmer does (and Ksenia Solo does, and Kris Holden-Reid - honestly, as much as Dyson irritates me I also feel bad for him much more than I feel bad for Bo).
