"Lost Girl" the Twelfth

I'm not gonna dick around here ... first things first.  There is no Dr. Hot Pants in this episode.  There.  Done.  Hearts broken.  I'll move on.

This episode was so confusing to me.  It wasn't boring as hell like last weeks.  I mean there were parts of this episode that I liked, but there were large sections of time where I couldn't even bare to face the screen.  It was just a very bizarre episode.  It's like it wasn't technically bad, it was just a serviceable episode of a show that I would have no interest in watching.   Like if this had been the pilot of the show I never would have turned Lost Girl on again, cause while alright, it's just not something that I would watch every week (in fact I probably wouldn't have finished watching the pilot if it was like this episode).

THOUGHTS:

-  Ugh, oh dear god.  Bo/Dyson creep me out when they are being cutesy!  Lawwwwwd, make it stop!  Hale and Kenzi, I'm with you.  *stomps away*  Thank god the camera panned away with them when they ran from the disgusting display of Bo/Dyson.  Also, 'true, true' and 'ha ha' to their conversation.

- OMG, a bath together *CRIES*  Seriously, if these two don't BREAK THE HELL UP LIKE IMMEDIATELY I will not be able to watch the last episode of this season.  I can't handle much more of this.  If I wasn't kind of drunk right now I'd be curled up in a little ball in the corner of room rocking back and forth.  [FYI:  they did not break the hell up like immediately, and I am actually living quite in fear of the finale].

Bo:  Who was it that saved your ass without asking for anything in return?  *promptly asks for something in return*
Oh, Bo.  Bo.  Even in bizarro romantic comedy sequences you manage to be an ass.

Also, dear God!  I can't take much more of this.  This is not a show I want to watch.  Not because of Bo/Dyson but because it's so horribly cutesy.  I don't even know what I'm watching right now.  This episode is like reverse-o 1x08, in that instead of being bizarrely dark, it's now bizarrely chipper like "Enchanted" and Bo is Giselle.  And now I'm going to be disappointed when they are no song and dance numbers, because that's the only thing that could make this tolerable.

-  The U.N.  ... OMG!  Bo working for the U.N?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA x 1000 x infinity + one!  I wouldn't be surprised if Bo couldn't spell U.N.  Come on writers, I can't believe anyone would believe that she worked for them!

- Wow, Kenzi.  That accent.  WOW!  I don't even ...

- Dyson ... looks gooooood in tennis whites!  Gotta give credit where credit is due.  I recognize, Kris Holden-Ried, I recognize!

-  OMG!  MAN IN TREES!  So scary.  Kenzi handled that visual better than I would have.  SO SUPER CREEPY!

- Oh, hey AMY LALONDE!  Hey, I love you boo.  Ms. Pierce forever (*fond sigh* 5ive Girls was so awesomely bad)!  Evil has never looked so good!

-  UGH!  God, it's really hard to hate Dyson when he gives you free foot massages if you just put your feet in his lap and they let Kris Holden-Ried laugh.  But seriously, this episode tis' SO BIZARRE.  I mean, Hale and Kenzi talking about how weirdly couple-y Bo are Dyson were being, and having so many OVER THE TOP cutesy scenes, I've got to believe that things are going to IMPLODE for Bo/Dyson by the end of the episode, but still .... WAH WAH WAH call the Wah-mbulence because I don't want to watch the rising action, I just want to see things go horribly wrong for them!  [FYI:  they do not implode the episode, there is no catharsis, I remain in misery]

Bo:  It still creeps me out that the Fae can access people's back accounts.
Kenzi:  Really, cause it creeps me out they find humans to be one of the four food groups.
LOL!

- I want Saskia to just show up on my doorstep.  LOL also, her mocking Bo/Dyson was the FUNNIEST thing ever.  [very paraphrased]  "Who the Ken doll?  Are you two going steady?  Cause that would make you the lamest succubus ever!  Hey, it's chilly outside.  Don't forget to bring your sweater."  LOL!  There was a lot more awesome insults mixed in there but I couldn't catch them all.  DAMMIT!  WHY IS THIS BITCH NOT ON THE SHOW ALL THE TIME???

- That country club party looked fun for real though.

-  Thank god, Kenzi is hilarious again!  I missed her snark self last week.

-  Okay, I have to say that I'm actually really enjoying Dyson this episode.  Just not with Bo.  Dyson just being Dyson is pretty fly this episode, cause KHR is fine like a ticket on my dashboard.  It's just anything with Bo and Dyson like speaking to each other makes me wanna gauge my eyes out.

-  HALE AND KENZI  "come a little closer then, a little closer, a little closer!"  LOL.  I quite enjoy these two as a tag-team.

- LOL!  I LOVED BO'S REACTION TO BEING HIT ON BY AMY LALONDE!  She looked like she wanted it so bad.  To bad Dyson's a selfish, cock-blocking prick.

OMG MAKE IT STOP!  THE DIALOGUE IT HURTS SO BAD.  WAS THIS WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE MEYER????  Okay, that's not fair, as douchey as Dyson can be he's not Edward Cullen douchey.  But I digress ... I HATE IT!  IT BURNS!  MAKE IT STOP!!!  EVEN THE ANVILS OF DOOM HURT!  *mom...myhelpmeplesemommy*

- WHY DOES HE LOOK SO GOOD WITH AVIATORS AND A SWEATER TIED AROUND HIS SHOULDERS!?!?!  The whip lash is killing me.  HATE HOT HATE HOT HATE HOT HATE HOT HATE HOT!  Stop messing with  my head show!  *sigh*  At least my disdain for Bo remains constant.

-  OMG TWIRLING IN THE TREES TOGETHER?!?!?!  WHAT IS THIS?  I CAN'T!

-  OMG!  The hole in the ground of bad smells.  LIke, damn, what did you guys think it was going to smell like?  Roses?  It was a creepy lidded hole in the ground.

Kenzi:  Yes!  This time it wasn't me that ate the gross thing.

Bo:  I am not not eating you.  And you are not not eating me!
Oh, Bo.  You are so dumb.

-  LOL!  Kenzi's beging attacked by Poison Ivy!  Sweet.

12 minutes left and I'm convinced that Bo and Dyson are going to end off the episode being perfectly happy and all creepily Stepford Fae's and I will be tortured for the next seven days as I await their destruction in the season finale (and wonder if Lauren will even be in the season finale)!  [FYI:  I was right.  They are fine.  Better than fine.  I am tortured.  And I DO wonder if Lauren will even be in the season finale]

- BO JUST LEFT THAT FAE TO DIE!!!!  WHERE THE HELL DOES SHE GET OFF BEING MAD AT SASKIA??!?!?!  Fucking lack of consistency.  I HATE the writers of this show all the time sometimes.

- Saskia, what?  What's going on.  SASKIA KILLING DYSON???????  DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM NOW?  SAY MY NAME BITCH?  WHAAAAAAAATTTTTTT???????  WHAT IS HAPPENINGWHO IS SHE??????????

WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THIS SHOW?  Saskia is killing Dyson because no man should own a succubus' ass, and Bo's all 'stake through the heart' even though Saskia's not a vampire, and Saskia's all "You're a hard friend to help" and then Bo gives Dyson the breath of fucking life! *note they will refer to it as 'siphoning chi' but it's really the breath of fucking life*

Final thoughts ... I've held off on really making a pronouncement until now, wanting to give her a fair shake and all, but I've finally joined Team Anna Silk Can't Really Act.  I just find Bo so intolerable these days, and it's not like she's really being written in a douchey way.  There's something about how Silk is playing her that's really rubbing me the wrong way.  I mean I was kind of charmed by Dyson this episode, but I could not dredge up an ounce of care for Bo - okay, I lie there was that one moment when she got horny, but that was it.  This show is kind of shit, it gets by on the charisma of the actors, which works because the other actors have charisma.  It just sucks that the person playing the main character isn't one of them.

(Trailer for the season finale)

Preview for next week:

Saskia is some big bad name Efa (possibly from Dyson's past) who really wants to kill some bitches - not sure why, other than to punish our main characters general douchery.   But Saskia/Efa is a big, powerful bad that they have to take down.

There seems to be a subplot about Bo going drunk with power now that she can give life back to them.  Apparently, "Siphoning chi is an art, and once you master it, it can be used to enslave anyone".  I don't know, they showed Bo reverse feeding off of Kenzi and I was disturbed and turned on and lost focus for a second.  Either way, Bo is probably going to be super-douchey next episode once again abusing the trust of the people she claims to love.

Also, there is some plot to take down the Fae.  The line about taking down the Fae was delivered by a female who was not on screen.  It sounded like Lauren to me, and they flashed to the Ash right after, but this could just be my mind feverish hoping to the point of delusion that Lauren will have something to do in the finale.  But the voice could have also been Saskia.  It's really impossible to tell since I think the editing for this promo will turn out to be especially misleading.

Not even a flash of Dr. LL though.

So, yeah.  In conclusion, Saskia is awesome and terrifying!  Kenzi is funny (though I'm getting tired of the wakcy!accents).  Preppy is a good look on Dyson.  Bo is just intolerable to me even when she's not being overtly offensive.  There was no Dr. Lauren.  And once again Dyson gets this Dierdre Hall-Joan Collins-aging-beauty, delicate, loving, soft light treatment of Dream-Man-ditude throughout the whole episode (honestly, if a we had been told that a puppy was born every time Dyson smiles, I wouldn't have been surprised) while Lauren is cast off in the land of harsh, unforgiving, pore exposing, limited access HDTV.  I just ... I don't know.  I'm falling out of love with this show so quickly.

IKR!

But the show has worn me down so much that I'm not even surprised. When I didn't see Lauren in the preview last week, I was prepared for this episode not to have her in it. Just like I'm prepared for next week not to feature her at all or to have like 30s seconds on screen.

Ha! I remember the 'salad days' when I would stay up all hours of the night waiting for the torrent to show up online. It was six days after last week's ep aired before I bothered to watch it. Knowing there's no Dr. Lauren in this week's ep? It might take me longer.

I do have a theory that it's not the showrunners cockblocking Bo/Lauren. Judging by episode 8, and the huge tonal shift between that ep and everything else that the network bought the show but someone somewhere got a chronic case of the GAY PANIC!! And, now that they do have a second season and Zoie Palmer's been signed up, I have a *sliver* of hope that TPTB will let go of the 'not so homo reins' so to speak.

Yeah, I know. Honestly, the only reason that I've been watching this live (instead of watching The Walking Dead which I'm enjoying) is to do these posts. My actual excitement leading up the episodes is nil.

The lack ZP is a big problem, but for me now the show has a bigger problem, which is that I don't like Bo (possibly because Anna Silk can't act). I really dislike the character. Everything she does bothers me.

Consequently, right now I don't care if Bo and Lauren get back together. Bo's a douche and it'll make muting scenes easier if I can just click the button every time Bo is on screen without worrying that I'm missing valuable Lauren time.

All that I care about is that ZP actually has screen time next year and that they give her something to do! I care about Lauren more than I care about Lauren/Bo, and if Bo/Lauren has to die for Lauren to get more screen-time then so be it. Lauren can get a girlfriend who deserves her (because no networks care when side-characters are gay), she can have her own story-line that often intersects with Bo's, and then I can proceed to skip any scene that doesn't involve, Lauren or Kenzi.

hopefully you will make this right by writing bo/lauren. F/F makes everything better.

I would give anything to be surprised by a TV show at this point. Has there been any show (that I'd want to see) that has had an f/f relationship that gets equal screentime and doesn't end in tragedy? Other than 'lesbian shows' like the L Word and/or Lip Service (although tragedy strikes there as well, depending on your OTP of choice:) of course. I've just had it.

Well, I'm finishing off the third installment of the "Bitter Sweet Symphony" series of fics, but Lord knows this episode isn't going to be inspiring anything else. I have hardcore praying the finale is good, because otherwise I don't know if I'll never care when the show comes back.

I would give anything to be surprised by a TV show at this point.

I know. I gave the benefit of the doubt for so long. But now, when I bet on being disappointed/letdown I always win.

Ughhh. Unlike you, I found this ep even *more* intolerable than last week's. Yes, the twirling was especially bad, but...the case? Sucked so hard. Also, there's ONE episode until the finale, and they didn't develop the arcs one. bit. Nothing about Trick/Blood King. Nothing about Bo's parentage. No big reveal and the (hopefully) subsequent implosion of Bo/Dyson. Nothing new about the Fae world.

Ugh, this Jeremy Boxer kid wrote all the worst eps of Lost Girl. Seriously, his dialogue is cringe-worthy. Luckily, I'm pretty sure Lovretta will pen the finale.

BUT the last seconds were awesome. Thank you, Saskia.

At this point I'm only hanging on because Mohan - the other showrunner - took the time to tweet back "don't worry. Lauren's not out by a long shot." I mean, why mislead us? Perhaps Zoie will have something to say tomorrow.

You're right about Silk. Although I've seen her in Being Erica and she holds her ground. She also did well with the serious material in 1x08. This is so frustrating!

I mean, there wasn't much Lauren in the early early eps, but for some reason I enjoyed the entire show much more. Oh, yeah - that's when Bo was having threesomes. Good times.

I want Saskia to just show up on my doorstep.

Right there with you!

SASKIA KILLING DYSON???????

...soooo I seemed to have found a motivation to watch this ep though this probably just means Bo's going to be all 'nawww my little vacuum cleaner got hurts! Lemme kiss it all better! We'll skip off into ever after all happy and together and-' ~/pausestobreathe

Sadly I don't actually want Dyson to leave/die, just get whipped by Saskia..a lot. (Evil or not, I'm so rooting for Saskia - mostly because the resident succubus has continuously been making me cringe)

Saskia's the best part of the episode. Sadly, she only had like three scenes. But they are super.

I seemed to have found a motivation to watch this ep though this probably just means Bo's going to be all

Well, you pretty much called it with this. The scene just gave them more opportunities to show Bo and Dyson's epic love.

(Evil or not, I'm so rooting for Saskia - mostly because the resident succubus has continuously been making me cringe)

Me too, but I'm pretty much prepared for Bo to be hypocritical and unbearably douchey and for Saskia to die (probably saving Bo just to add insult to injury). I'm honestly going into the finale with the lowest expectations ever.

well thank you for the summary @ least now I won't waste my time hoping for something that's not gonna happen. Sad but true, my interest for this show was lost when Bo starting acting like a major douche w/ Lauren.

Yep, just go into it expecting to be disappointed. Honestly, I think that's why this episode didn't hurt as much as last week. I started watching expecting it to disappoint so when it did, I was able to deal with it reasonably.

And yeah, the shift in Bo's personality after episode 8 (I've found her to be really douchey since that episode and not just with Lauren, though that is definitely the best example of it), and my enjoyment of the show as plummeted. It's hard to really care about a show when you LOATHE the main character (and they don't put your favorite character on screen)

I saw the reactions on twitter and didn't bother watching this episode (the repeat). Not gonna help showcase with their ratings. I hope they come to their senses in season 2. Meanwhile, I will depend on fanfics to comfort me...

So Saskia is evil now? I hope they haven't assassinated her character to make her out as the "bad guy"

Date: 2010-12-06 04:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com
Yeah, this is the first time where I haven't watched the repeat. I just couldn't not even handle having it on in the background.

And yeah, Saskia's seeming pretty evil right now. Character assassination is too early to call exactly, but she did not exactly get a balanced portrayal tonight. She was very Single White Succubus. So I'm fully prepared for her to be Evil Saskia next week, smirking and killing her way through the episode indescriminately.

It seems like the writers of the show don't know what direction they wanna go, keep it light or go dark. And also I enjoyed the flirting and eye contact between Bo & Lauren before ep 1x8 I wish the relationship had continued to develope before they slept together.

Hngghhhhh THIS IS THE WORST THING SINCE 1X11 AND I HAVEN'T EVEN WATCHED IT?!?!

I shan't watch. Your recap is sufficient and I daresay more awesome than the actual show. It made me sick just reading it which is sad to your recap but I was totes making that pukey face :(

I'm not making any sense, am I? Gah. I hate shows and their heteronormative shit. At least show the doctor doing some doctor stuff??? Doctors are one of the busiest people what with sick people and stuff and what with all the PI shit available for Bo I'm sure there are a lot of sick-ass Fae requiring the service of Dr. Hot-Pants.

Fuuuuuuu, show. Fuuuuuu.

Meh.

You're totally making sense, this is what galls me the most too. It is painfully obvious right now that Bo/Lauren this season has just been a ploy to get gay viewers. The showrunners might not have wanted that originally, but the storyline has shoddily written and shoved to the back-burner enough that it seems like a rating ploy.

If Lauren had at least gotten to be a character, instead of an accessory that is trotted out when Bo needs help (or just has an incredible urge to act like a jerk) then at least that would be something. But the relationship AND the character have been treated like garbage.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, show. Fuuuuuuu, indeed.

I'm choosing to keep my mouth shut due to all the kinds of not surprised I am at how the last few episodes have been turning out. I'll way to be surprised in terms of the finale but I never expect miracles. How the finale turns out will determine how anxiously I await season 2, and after tonight I'm barely restraining the urge to tweet ZP tomorrow and ask if she can beat some sense into the writing staff so they'll put her in more episodes and write something that Silk can act.

Sort of speaking of which, are you on Tumblr? Did you happen to catch that unveriffied script page of a Bo/Lauren/female scene? I originally assumed Bo/Dyson would implode tonight and it might have something to do with the finale but considering it makes it sound like Bo/Lauren re-emerges and an ex of Lauren's pops up, maybe it's a leaked S2 page. Or maybe it's a fantastic fake, who knows. I just know it was the first time in a few weeks that I've been excited for Lost Girl, the show and not something the actresses might do. *shrugs*

I liked the show much better towards the beginning when Bo was all obsessed with finding out about her lineage. Now it's just the "BO AND DYSON 4EVA WITH WACKY MONSTERS OF THE WEEK (and also Kenzi) SHOW" and I don't care for it one bit.

I agree with what was said above, that Dark!Bo is much better brooding and being mysterious than this giggly fawning girl that she turns into whenever she's around Dyson for extended periods of time.

I haven't even bothered to download/watch this episode yet, I'm so close to being past the point of not even caring anymore. I really hate when a show I start out enjoying lets me down to such an extent. I mean, I already dropped the fuck out of Hellcats, and even though it would save my internet I really don't want to give up on another show.

The lack of Lauren makes me angrier every episode because what little screentime she does have she's only ever painted in a negative light while Saint Dyson who's been lying to Bo this whole time is this perfect hunk of asshole that makes Bo act like she's 15 years old.

BAD TV. BAD DECISION MAKING. Sundays suck, except for Dexter and The Walking Dead which UNLIKE LOST GIRL have been so utterly brilliant lately that they make me cry. I'm not even exaggerating, I literally cried because I was so in awe of how perfect they were, and for once what I wanted to happen, actually HAPPENED.

The beginning of the season wasn't perfect, but it was enjoyable and entertaining and engaging. So, yeah, too bad it turned into ...

"BO AND DYSON 4EVA WITH WACKY MONSTERS OF THE WEEK (and also Kenzi) SHOW" and I don't care for it one bit.

Because I have no interest in that show.

I really hate when a show I start out enjoying lets me down to such an extent.

I know. I've never seen it happen so quickly. Most shows maintain a level of mediocre enjoyability for a while, or a good show will take a season or 2 to really slide downhill. How they managed to screw things up so spectacularly in a 13 episode season is crazy!

because what little screentime she does have she's only ever painted in a negative light while Saint Dyson who's been lying to Bo this whole time is this perfect hunk of asshole that makes Bo act like she's 15 years old.

Word. The difference in how the show treats the characters is ridiculous. How they expect a reasonable person to think that they've actually been presenting a love triangle is beyond me. Lauren has been nothing but a plot device, and a poorly used one (though wonderfully acted).

Honestly, if it wasn't for the recaps I'd be watching Walking Dead live, because I've actually been enjoying that show more and more while I've been enjoying Lost Girl less and less.

I literally cried because I was so in awe of how perfect they were, and for once what I wanted to happen, actually HAPPENED.

Heh. I feel this way about Lip Service. When it ended the way I hoped it would, I was gobsmacked. I didn't know what to do with myself.

....ugh. TBH, I kinda stopped watching/keeping up after episode 8.

I've finally joined Team Anna Silk Cannot Act

This. I realized this relatively early on but was willing to mostly overlook it due to her being pretty and hoping that she'd end up with Lauren, but I've pretty much given up any hope for that now.

So now I'm relying solely on your recaps...that is all.

Oh, and kinda random sidenote, but I was walking to class when I saw a Dr. Lauren lookalike. Like, a lookalike to the extent where I did a double take cause I was so confused.

The thing is that Anna does Dark!Bo well. And she was probably hired because she was good at that character. And if Bo had stayed that way we'd probably think she was super. It just really, really sucks for her that the show accentuates her weakness as an actress instead of her strengths (like a good show would do).

Also, jealous of you seeing the Dr. Lauren look-a-like! That must have been a bizarre but pleasant happening.

really like dyson this episode, but what the heck is going on with bo, she get`s more anoying with every epi, the show should of been about saskia she is way more hotter and intresting than bo . and why no dr, hot pants ! there was reason`s for her to be in but they seemed to skip over the science stuff using hale instead to give explantions ect,, in the preview no sign of lauren, the best charactor in the show and no sign of her in the last epi, but on the bright side zoie parmer is on twitter today .

Dyson was good this episode. I actually found him pretty adorable (though I didn't really love his 'territorial' speech).

He and Bo together are just intolerable though. Bo turns into the type of girl that I can't stand to be around when she's with him. She comes across so ... vacuous.

And there was no Dr. Hot Pants because Lauren is little more than a plot device and they didn't need her this episode. I'm convinced she only got a scene last episode so that the writers could hammer home that Bo still hates her guts, paving this episode of ridiculously over-the-top Bo/Dyson.

I'm not gonna lie...i don't even watch the episodes unless Zoie Palmer is in them.

Yeah Lost Girl hasn't been giving me much love...

Please write us some wonderful Doccubus fic, for those who can't write fic for themselves! Make this better!

Zoie's really the only reason to watch the episodes. I find the Lauren-less episodes and Lauren-lite episodes so tedious.

I've got at least one more doccubus coming, but with the way the show is going I don't know how much more there will be. I'm just hating Bo so much, that it's hard to write her.

I also liked Dyson this episode but was rebelling against the over the top couple-ness of Dyson/Bo and all the anvils they were dropping about their relationship and honesty.

I did love Kenzi and Hale and of course Saskia. I have to think if Kenzi had been a victim/almost victim of that villain of the week when Saskia debuted, Saskia and Bo would have totally still been friends after Saskia killed him. The name Kenzi on a list of victims is totally Bo's attack command. I loved Saskia despite being crazy evil. I wonder if she'll end up being left alive in the finale after perhaps knowing information about Bo's past.

I remember hearing somewhere Lauren was supposed to be in every episode after a certain point on which she hasn't.

I didn't want to be the first one to say it, but yeah, pretty much.

I agree that the show is shit but it works because of the actors' charisma. Still, like you said, it's just a shame that the main character doesn't seem to have much. 90% of the time I care about Dyson more than Bo.

And I know that Zoie's a guest star and all, but what's with the false "love triangle" hope? It's a joke now. Maybe I'm just bitter RN but Bo doesn't deserve Lauren. She needs to grow up.

I saw part of a script last week with Bo/Lauren interraction, along with someone new, and that looked promising. I'm not sure if it was legit, but either way it was a good read.

Zoie Palmer and Rachel McAdams need to be cast in a new series together, where Zoie is actually a lead. It'd be nice for her talent to be utilised more, and to be around a leading actress who is just as amazing. (That wish stems from watching that video with Zoie and Rachel yesterday, the one where they declare their love for each other :D)

I think I'm done with the show, at least as a regular viewer. I mean, unless Lauren gets decent screentime and/or is a regular next season. The disappointment really isn't worth it, you know?

I'm with you completely here. There has been no love triangle, just a half-ass Bo/Lauren flirtation and the awkward insertion of a demo episode into the season to save money and get a ratings boost. All this 'triangle' has done is made me LOATHE Bo, and resent the writers/creators of the show.

What's this about a video with Zoie and Rachel McAdam's? WHAT?? I WANT TO SEE THIS? Declaring their love for each other? They know each other? What is going on here?

... Do you have a link? *crosses fingers and wishes really hard*

I'll give the show maybe 4 episodes last season. I'll give the writers/showrunners the benefit of the doubt and believe that they will address the many issues with the show now that they have gotten feedback. But if they don't, I'm out of here. The disappointment really isn't worth it.

Thank you for the recap. I don't think I'll be watching this episode. Your suffering saves other people pain. :)

I also seem to disagree with a lot of people about Anna Silk. I think she can act, but it's just somewhat uneven. After she found out about Lauren sleeping with her just to keep her from going after Vex I think she did very well there. I also like giggly and fawning quite a lot. Het romance is just not something I'm interested in watching.

Maybe it's just because when she's put next to Zoie Palmer that her acting ability is seemingly elevated, as Zoie carries the scene. I can't really tell. I digress.

I pretty much feel the way you do about Anna. She's not an awful actress, I would just say limited. When she is in her comfort range (dark!Bo) she's very good and engaging. But giggly/fawning Bo is just horrendous. I find her very affected in those scenes, like she's trying too hard to be cutesy or bubbly and I don't even like to look at the screen.

And I know that Zoie's a guest star and all, but what's with the false "love triangle" hope? It's a joke now. Maybe I'm just bitter RN but Bo doesn't deserve Lauren. She needs to grow up.

I think there is something to this. In her scenes with ZP I'm usually distracted by how good ZP is that I don't notice much about what Silk is doing.

I'm not gonna dick around here ... first things first. There is no Dr. Hot Pants in this episode. There. Done. Hearts broken. I'll move on.

And this point I wonder if ZP was originally to be cast for season 2. It may be that the fanbase reaction on the Showcase blog made them reconsider, and Mohan's tweets are just a way to keep us watching. I know I'm being super-negative but I just feel so sad and angry about Lauren's character. I never really bothered about the show in itself because it's never been that good, just enjoyable. But Lauren was really unique for me. She was drama, because she's a slave, because she's acting out of love, because she's risking her life and endures harshness and stupidity but doesn't flinch. She's kind of a romantic character.

The U.N. ... OMG! Bo working for the U.N? (...) I wouldn't be surprised if Bo couldn't spell U.N. Come on writers, I can't believe anyone would believe that she worked for them!

And what did the UN do to deserve that?

I've finally joined Team Anna Silk Can't Really Act

Amen, though I guess it's not that easy to make something good with such a stupid and incoherent character. But even as Cassidy she didn't really impressed me.

Thanx for recaping this show for us, and giving us those fantastic fanfics.
And I can't wait to read what you think about The Guard ;)

I kind of hope this true. Because if so it means that TPTB are listening to the feedback they're getting, and are willing to make changes for the second season. That gives me hope that season 2 won't suck as hard as the end of season 1.

Amen, though I guess it's not that easy to make something good with such a stupid and incoherent character. But even as Cassidy she didn't really impressed me.

True true. The writers really aren't doing her any favors. Bo is the least consistently written character. But I still think Silk has to take some of the blame for how much I loathe Bo, because I might not be interested in Dyson, but I don't really hate him and I can on occasion find him interesting/cute.

This show was never great but it had buckets of potential and they've just pissed it all away. I haven't got around to watching last week's and I doubt I'll be watching this week's any time soon. It's a shame, really, but they've just gone 'bleh'.

I never thought Dyson was handsome - it's the reason I cut the character some slack in the beginning (at least he's not a pretty-boy syndrome) - so I am somewhat curious to see him in his preppy gear.

I think we should just cut our loses and start petitioning the network for a Dr. Hotpants spinoff right away.

True true. I think that's why the first half of the season was more tolerable, because I believed that the show would get better as it went on. Sadly, that was not the case.

I never thought Dyson was handsome - it's the reason I cut the character some slack in the beginning (at least he's not a pretty-boy syndrome) - so I am somewhat curious to see him in his preppy gear.

I'd say he isn't a typical 'pretty boy', but I've always thought he had a rugged sort of handsomeness. And I don't know why, but I just thought preppy!Dyson was super hot. Too bad he was around Bo all episode so I was too filled with loathing to fully appreciate.

I think we should just cut our loses and start petitioning the network for a Dr. Hotpants spinoff right away.

I'm in ... but only if the Dr. Hot Pants spin-off is written by people who understand character development, story arcs, relationship building, plotting. Which is to say, "not Lost Girl's writing staff".

If Saskia hadn't shown up and inflicted brutal bluemist mouthrape on Dyson, this episode would have shown exactly Zero Forward Movement. Bravo.

Really, how many times do we have to hear the same weak-ass foreshadowing (As in, "I trust U Dyson! You would nevah hurt meee!") because I, for one, am weary of that stillborn song. Really, it's like they're combing through Ke$ha lyrics for layered emotional profundity.

There's one episode left and eighty-seven unanswered and scarcely mentioned REAL plot questions! Who is Bo's mama? What is her scary destiny? Does the Morrigan do Pilates? And where the fuck is Dr. Lauren? Come on! Get it in gear, show!

bluemist mouthrape

This honestly made me LOL. And yeah, the bluemist mouthrape (and Saskia mocking Bo and Bo/Dyson on her porch) were the only parts of the episode I fully concentrated on.

because I, for one, am weary of that stillborn song. Really, it's like they're combing through Ke$ha lyrics for layered emotional profundity.

LOL! Oh, I know. It's like 'play a new tune writers, and one that wasn't written by an idiot'. The same conversation being repeated over and OVER AND OVER again is giving me Twilight flashbacks, and I ... I can't go through that again.

Come on! Get it in gear, show!

I know. It's sad to see such wasted potential. Like how they managed to make so many people go from SQUEE to hate/loathing/indifference in just 13 is almost impressive. They pretty much had to do EVERYTHING wrong.

This is weird; IMDB has ZP listed in the cast for both Ep 12 & 13 - I think they list her as being in 10 of the 13 episodes this season. Drat. Well, I for one will not accept that past is prologue, and will (pathetically) hope that she is in the finale, despite her absence in ep12.

Sorry this show is letting you, and therefore your muse, down so much, FB. Thanks for the recap, though.

Man, it's a good thing i read your posts. I feel so blind compared to you. I don't notice half the stuff you mention then it all comes together. especially anna silk's poor acting. I really really want Bo/Lauren back. even though Bo is a huge jerk, she's pretty to look at.

Heh, I just obsess about this show too much. I kind of end up taking things I like at face value, but I nitpick and obsess about things that I come to hate. It is a very unfortunate character trait that leads to lots of long rants.

I want Bo/Lauren back too, but honestly at this point I'd just rather Lauren have screen time. I think that it would honestly be easier for me to ship Bo/Lauren if they just got back a friendship. At least that way they'd talk to each other, and with their past I could just femslash while also being inspired by their on-screen like of each other.

Right now, I just feel like it would almost be cruel to sent Lauren back to someone as awful as Bo (pretty as she may be).
