This chick, right here!   VICKI NELSON from Blood Ties, ya'll!!!

1. They both own and operate a private detective firm runner business
2. They both have demon marks that they are ashamed of but earned fighting for truth justice and the goody-goody way
3. They are both spunky tough girls with hearts of gold
4. They both have wacky side-kicks who do leg work for them (Coreen and Jenks)
5. Mike is like a stand in for every one of Rachel's ill-fated boyfriends.  They try so hard but are destined for failure.
5. Rachel had a childhood sickness and Vicki has glasses. It humanizes them, ya'll! They're just like you and me!
7. They both use bravery as an excuse for doing exceedingly stupid things.
8. And they both have brooding vampire love interests who they are clearly meant to be with, but fight for some inexplicable reason! Only, Vicki might be more ridiculous in this case, cause she doesn't even have a vamp-scar or gay!panic to blame.  Then again, Vicki is also far less of a c-tease than Rachel is, so Henry suffers less.

Ah, I feel so much better now that I've figured it out :D

So, I just saw the new Lifetime vampire detective series Blood Ties and it totally made me miss Blade the Series like whoa!

Seriously, this show is kinda like everything I was afraid Blade would be before it aired, and why I was surprised when Blade turned out to be so kick-ass.

Now, Blood Ties isn't completely horrible, I quite liked (lusted after) Kyle Schmid as the vampire Henry Fitzroy, Christina Cox was good as the Vicki the private eye that investigates a strange case which draws her into the world of the supernatural, the show is set in Toronto which = love, and the vampire effects were pretty cool.

However, the dialogue was pretty horribly cheesy most of the time, one of the male leads, Celluci (Dylan Neal), was the most obnoxious characters I've seen on screen since Marcus Van Sciver and I kind of just want to punch him in the face, and the VoTW in this episode was just an overly campy tool who annoyed me. Also, the romantic triangle is already too big of a focus and boring as hell, and the attraction/relationship between Vicki and Henry progressed way too quickly. Like seriously, does she have no concerns about him? He kidnaps her, tells her he's a vampire, makes references to hunting people at night but she's like his BFF the moment she finds out he draws graphic novels and is letting him feed off of her in the pilot! [Gob Bluth]Come on![/Gob]

I'll probably watch another episode at least, but mostly it made me miss Blade the Series because:

Conclusion: I'll check out another episode, but mostly I miss Blade :(
