So, I only had a passing interest in watching Cashmere Mafia as I am one of like five people in my age group who doesn't, didn't and will never worship Sex and the City, which is what this show has been compared to again and again in the press (which probably means it's nothing like it).

Anyway, I just watched the new trailer for Cashmere Mafia courtesy of jetgirl78) and discovered that Lourdes Benedicto is playing Bonnie Somerville's love interest on the show.

Which means that I will at least start out watching Cashmere Mafia until it convinces me that it's good, or until they screw over the Bonnie/Lourdes relationship.

Also, is it wrong that I would be 100% guaranteed to watch this show until the bitter end if Lucy Liu's character was a Yakuza boss, or a vampire? No? Okay, I didn't think so.

Seriously though, genre shows pwn me, so I hope there's lots of funny and GoGA to keep my attention.

She totally is. I stopped watching Kitchen Confidential after the first episode so I didn't remember her from that, but she's definitely on my radar now.

The scenes between the two of them were totally adorable. I really hope that the network doesn't screw the relationship over *crosses fingers* because I already love them!

Like you said, I am invested already and I would really love it if they don't screw it up ... or worse... make gay until around midseason when she realizes she likes men again. Please. TV Gods. Probably a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B. Because lord knows there's a serious lack of good gay (especially lesbian) entertainment out there, but they ARE seriously cute in the trailer with the head bumping, and the kissing in the street, and the accidental honking of the horn, and the telling your friends instead of having falling for a girl be this deep dark terrible secret that eats away at your soul, and whatnot.

I would really love it if they don't screw it up ... or worse... make gay until around midseason when she realizes she likes men again. Please. TV Gods. Please, don't let that happen.

*shudder* *gets misty eyed* The 'I really like you, but I LOVE cock' ending to the relationship is my biggest fear. Honestly, if that happens my rage will know no bounds. Like I realize that they're not going to end up together for however many season this show is on, but THAT better not be the reason for the break-up. And she should totally go out with another girl after that. Then if the show is still on they can briefly introduce a boyfriend since she is (as far as we know) bisexual, but let the show end off with a girlfriend, please. Just to be different and not shatter my heart into tiny, little reflective shards.

Maybe they'll turn out to be a clan of vampires pretending to be high-minded career types while they plot the downfall of a rival clan's empire. The rival clan being, of course, the power behind the real Mafia, which leads to a city wide fang and blade fight to the death, that is only interrupted so Bonnie's character can go have oodles of steamy scenes with her on-screen love interest.

I am going to be SO DISAPPOINTED when none of these things happen on the show. It's like Kindred: The Embraced with way more hot chicks in positions of power and 100% more gay. Which is to say, Kindred: The Embraced made completely of win.

Your theory's rock. In fact, everything that happens on the show once it airs will be refitted in my head to follow this plot line. Lourdes's character is now the daughter of the Mafia clan, and she and Bonnie find themselves in a Romeo and Juliet type love affair that COULD TEAR THEIR CLANS APART ... or perhaps bring them closer together! da da daaaaaaaa!

(taking a page out of j's book) *twirls*...i, like you, am not a fan of SATC...but i do like like this cast...i liked bonnie since her "grosse point" days, (which is another show that was brilliant yet cancelled)...i heart frances o'connor...i was first introduced to her in this aussi movie which escapes me now, but she played a uni student who just got dumped by rahda mitchell...but she won me over as fanny in "mansfield park"...miranda and lucy are no-brainers and sweet merciful jesus, lourdes benedicto is so funkin' hot...is it wrong i still call her candace??...i still have an errant thought of her givin' it to flashdance in the 1st season of the l-word...(hairy-palm, i might go blind sigh)...

Yeah, this was my first real introduction to Frances. I rented it for Jonny Lee Miller, but I got a pleasant surprise with Frances.

Lourdes is totally a spicy treat.

Although I don't think we can give her mad props for making out with Flashdance. Candice was played by Ion Overman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0653887/), who does look a great deal like Lourdes but isn't her. I confident that Lourdes will live up to her doppleganger and bring the girl-kissage like whoa though.

dude!!...i always get the 2 of them confused...ion was on "port charles" and lourdes was on one of those night time "soaps"...i also get hilary barton and zoe dechanel mixed up sometimes...and then i realize the zoe is the one w/ talent...nut that's neither here nor there...but yeah,,,i just had a total crack-head moment...

oh...the movie w/ radha and frances is called "love and other catastrophes" ... at least i think that's what it is...it's cute...you should rent it or work your voodoo that you do so well... ;)
