True Blood - 1x09 - Plaisir D'Amour

So, I don't know who on this list watches True Blood but
I LOVE PAM!
There, I said it.
I. LOVE. PAM
Seriously, I have developed the biggest girl!crush on her. She's especially cute when she's all J Crewed out, and being a snarky bitch. Mmm, Pam. She gets some of the best lines too:
"You've got vampire in your cleavage" followed by her very slowly digging around in Sookie's bra before looking deeply into her eyes and saying, "I'm beginning to see why there's such a fuss about you." Her absolute irritation with Ginger when she came into the room and ruined the moment with Sookie was awesome too. "Sookie, Ginger. Ginger, Sookie" all quick and irritated and shit.
LOVE HER.
I ALSO LOVE TARA LIKE A FAT KID LOVES CAKE. Yes, she has her issues, but Rutina Wesley does a fantastic job making Tara exceptionally sympathetic and I'm rooting for her (and Sam, I like them together)
Soo-kay and Vampire!Bill mostly bore me.
They really need to go something about Eric's hair. Alexander Skarsgard (I love saying that last name, it's so much fun) is a very good looking man and there's no excuse for them making him look so yucky.
I love me some Lizzy Caplan, but I HATE AMY WITH THE WHITE HOT INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS!!! Oh my god this character is vile. She is a complete psychopath! Hot, but crazy and her crazy ass has gots to go!
Also, the ending of this episode was comedy gold.

Date: 2008-11-05 12:12 am (UTC)I am predictable. *is chagrined*
Btw, the actress who plays Tara isn't anything like her character. What you see on the screen is all _acting_ :o
That's good to know (not because Tara is bad, but because she is so tragic). I've never seen Rutina in anything before, but I'm blown away by her performance every episode. She is just stellar. Re-casting Tara so Rutina was the actress was the best decision that has been made for this show.

I've heard people say this before, but I just can't imagine how Pam could be cooler.

Date: 2008-11-05 12:59 am (UTC)you just see more of her later on in the series and she is such a freakin' awesome character you can't help but love her.
(It's been awhile since I've read them, but Pam always stuck out to me, eh.)

Date: 2008-11-05 12:06 am (UTC)I'm sorry.. is there supposed to be something *wrong* with this statement? As far as I'm concerned, Pam came along and stole the show from *everyone*! I loved her expression after Bill skewered that vamp.
Yes, she has her issues, but Rutina Wesley does a fantastic job making Tara exceptionally sympathetic and I'm rooting for her..
In the beginning, I couldn't stand the character but now I just wanna give her a big hug.
I HATE AMY WITH THE WHITE HOT INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS!!!
Heh, what really sucks is they've paired her off with Jason - who I HATE even more. This week, the two of them became fast-forward material. If the Erica Hahn character can get shitcanned for being too gay, then HBO should get rid of Jason for being too fucking stupid! I just don't understand *why* they're giving the character soo much friggin' airtime.

Date: 2008-11-05 12:18 am (UTC)If there's something wrong with loving Pam, then I don't want to be right.
Actually, everyone seems to love Pam. I haven't read a negative thing about her, which is very odd for message boards. Usually females characters get the curd kicked out of them by posters. But everyone seems to love Pam (and Tara, which makes me happy.) Sookie gets the piss taken out of her sometimes... but really, she SHOULD.
In the beginning, I couldn't stand the character but now I just wanna give her a big hug.
This. I found her really abrasive in the first episode, but her snark won me over, and then I just wanted to hug her and tell her that there are people out there who will treat her right, and who she can trust. The actress is really doing an amazing job, cause in lesser hands Tara could be hateful (the recast was a great idea, because the original actress never would have been able to pull this shit off).
they've paired her off with Jason - who I HATE even more.
Oh, I know. Jason is a waste of space. His bonding with Eddie didn't make me like Jason, it made me LIKE EDDIE! Jason and Amy are both disgusting and need to be off my screen. And I don't care what Amy says, I will NEVER forgive him for hitting his sister.
I just don't understand *why* they're giving the character soo much friggin' airtime.
Preach, sistah!

Date: 2008-11-05 07:19 am (UTC)It was the episode where she bailed Jason out of jail that won me over. Despite my initial reservations, I think they've done a good job into making her a complex, multi-layered character. Even Tara's mother could have been a one-note character and has turned in ways I wasn't expecting.
Jason is a waste of space.
A waste of space and completely ONE NOTE. After *nine* friggin' episodes this is Jason's characterization - I'm dumb, I'm horny, I'm hooked on 'V'. I just find it completely frustrating since they've done so well with all the other characters.. who get *way* less screen time. He's like the Peter fucking Petrelli of the show.
I mean, seriously, when you and your new partner in crime kidnap a vampire, tie him up in your basement and then torture him by having sex in front of him the LAST thing you do is let your partner in crime work with the pro-vampire person who can READ MINDS!!

Date: 2008-11-05 03:34 am (UTC)lol! As soon as the door opened and I saw those (because my gaze went straight past Eric to Pam), I was like, "lol, gurl". I really liked her trench coat outfit. It was sexy, but at the same time not the overly sexy of her Fangtasia outfits.
Pam's dainty little laugh also kills me. I totally dig it. She's laughs like a well trained Victorian woman. It's the cutest little sound ever. *dreamy sigh*
I would totally go Fangbanger for Pam (who can totally do better than Ginger! Pammer, guuurl ... just cause the wells there doesn't mean you gotta drink!)

Date: 2008-11-05 03:45 am (UTC)She's so amusing. She needs more screentime though, maybe she could have all of Jason's because I can't fucking stand him.
I ALSO LOVE TARA LIKE A FAT KID LOVES CAKE.
WORD. I love her more than that fat kid in Matilda loves cake. I mean, she annoyed me in the first few eppys but she's too tortured and snarky for me not to love her.
Also, the ending of this episode was comedy gold.
Tru dat, major lulz.

Date: 2008-11-05 04:00 am (UTC)She is. She's delightful. So much snark. So much sexy. And her laugh cracks me up. Like it's so dainty and lady-like. I swoon every time I hear it (twice this episode! Huzzah!)
She needs more screentime though, maybe she could have all of Jason's because I can't fucking stand him.
This.
Jason is a waste of space, and he monopolizing HUGE amounts of screen time. I don't know who it is that has a boner for this character, but most of the viewing public isn't so enamoured with him. Yes, Ryan Kwaten is a good looking man, but that doesn't mean he needs to be on screen 80% of an episode.
I mean, she annoyed me in the first few eppys but she's too tortured and snarky for me not to love her.
Trufax. I give major props to Rutina Wesley for making Tara so layered and lovable despite her issues. Tara could be positively hateful in another actresses hands, but Rutina really humanizes her and shows the great heart Tara has underneath all of that pain (her relationship with Sookie is great too. They're very good besties and I love their relationship).

Date: 2008-11-05 03:45 am (UTC)And Amy is a psychopath, anyone who said with a straight face at how they'd suffered and so they deserved to take advantage or other people (or in this case, vamp-napped and draining him) you ought to be wearied of. And when she said to Jason how she loves him? I was saying to myself, oh yeah, she's crazy and not good kind of crazy.

Date: 2008-11-05 04:04 am (UTC)That was gold for me. That solidified my love for Pam. Kristen Bauer's delivery of that line was puuurfect (I love her Southern lilt too, the way she said 'cleavage' made me swoon). The fact that she was totally hitting on Sookie afterwards just made that scene all the better. Her eye roll when Ginger walked in was comedy gold.

I know. There is no excuse for Jason not running away from her when she went on that rant. Everything about the picnic scene was FUCKING CREEPY AS HELL. I'm sorry, Jason is stupid but that doesn't give him the right to a cruel motherfucker and get away with it. He knows what he's doing is wrong and is doing it anyway. I'm sorry, he's a grown man, not a three year old. This behavior does not make me want to cuddle him, it makes me want to beat his stupid ass to a bloody pulp.

Date: 2008-11-05 10:25 pm (UTC)LOL! I do the same thing. Or at least I like zone out and fold laundry or whatever until someone interesting comes on screen again.
that I can stand scenes with Jason and his douchebaggery more than those two... blerg!
ikr! I can't stand Jason/Amy scenes, but I was way more interested in Jason/Eddie last episode than anything that had to do with Bill and Sookie. The only reason I was glad Bill was on screen last episode was because Pam and Eric accompanied him.
oh, Pam =)
Date: 2008-11-05 01:08 pm (UTC)"Your mouth is bloody," Eric said. All the vampires had fully extended fangs. They'd gotten pretty excited. "He bled onto me." "Did any go down your throat?" "Probably. What does that mean?" 'That remains to be seen," Pam said. Her voice was dark and husky. She was eyeing Belinda in a way that would have made me distinctly nervous, but Belinda seemed to be preening, incredibly. "Usually," Pam went on, her eyes on Belinda's pouty lips, "we drink from humans, not the other way around."
Eric was looking at me with interest, the same kind of interest that Pam had in Belinda. "How do things look to you now, Sookie?" he asked in such a smooth voice you'd never think he'd just executed an old friend.'
shower scene from 2nd book
"When Pam agreed to guard the door, I enlisted her help in pulling off the jeans and shucking my shoes and socks. She enjoyed the process a little too much.
It was the best shower I'd ever had."
you have to know where to stop - much more fun that way =)))

Date: 2008-11-07 12:10 pm (UTC)"What’s happening in Bon Temps, Sookie?” Pam asked, saying in a clear aside to some bar patron, “Step aside, you son of a misbegotten whore!"
“They like that kind of talk,” she said to me conversationally. “Now, what’s up?”
---------------------------------------------------------------
Pam had sent a mixed bouquet, and the card read, “Don’t get shot anymore. From the gang at Fangtasia.”
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Eric, always thinking of ways to make Fangtasia more lucrative, had come up with a vampire calendar to sell in the little gift shop. Eric himself was Mr. January.
...
Pam said. "Eric said many people wouldn't like it if I were in the calendar made for women … so I'm in the one for men. Would you like me to send you a copy of my picture, as well?"
"That surprises me," I told her. "It really does. I mean, that you wouldn't mind posing." I had a hard time imagining her participation in a project that would pander to human tastes.
"Eric tells me to pose, I pose," she said matter-of-factly.
Though Eric had considerable power over Pam since he was her maker, I have to say that I'd never known Eric to ask Pam to do anything she wasn't ready to do. Either he knew her well (which, of course, he did) or Pam was willing to do just about anything.
"I have a whip in my picture," Pam said. "The photographer says it'll sell a million." Pam had wide-ranging tastes in the area of sex.
After a long moment while I contemplated the mental image that raised, I said, "I'm sure it will, Pam. But I'll give it a pass."
"We'll all get a percentage, all of us who agreed to pose." "
---------------------------------------------------------------
"You're Sookie Stackhouse?" asked the vamp. She was very tall, just under six feet, and she was of some racial blend that had turned out awfully well. Her skin was a golden color, and her hair was thick and coarse and dark. She'd had it cornrowed, and her arms were weighed down with jewelry. Her clothes, in contrast, were simple; she wore a severely tailored white blouse with long sleeves, and black leggings with black sandals.
"Yes," I said. "Can I help you?" She was looking at me with an expression I could only identify as doubtful.
"Pam sent me here," she said. "My name is Felicia." Her voice was as lilting and exotic as her appearance. It made you think about rum drinks and beaches.
"She has sent me here to identify myself to you."
"She said you had a habit of killing the bartenders of Fangtasia," Felicia said, her lovely doe eyes wide with amazement. "She said I must come to beg your mercy. But you just seem like a human, to me."
That Pam. "She was just teasing you," I said as gently as I could. I didn't think Felicia was the sharpest tool in the shed. Super hearing and super strength do not equal super intelligence. "Pam and I are friends, sort of, and she likes to embarrass me. I guess she likes to do the same thing to you, Felicia. I have no intention of harming anyone."
After chewing that over for a moment, Felicia looked relieved, which made her even prettier. Pam often had multiple reasons for doing something, and I found myself wondering if she'd sent Felicia here so I could observe her attractions—which of course would be obvious to Eric. Pam might be trying to stir up trouble. She hated a dull life.
"You go back to Shreveport and have a good time with your boss," I said, trying to sound kind.
"Eric?" the lovely vampire said. She seemed startled. "He's good to work for, but I'm not a lover of men."

[Maeby Bluth]Marry me![/MB] UNF UNF UNF! I love you Pam.
Would you like me to send you a copy of my picture, as well?"
YES! Sookie is a FOOL for turning that offer down.
"I have a whip in my picture," Pam said.
A DAMN DIRTY STINKING FOOL!!! Pam + a whip + sexy poses = heaven.
I also love Pam and her dim arm candy. *sigh* Perfection.

Date: 2008-11-08 02:42 am (UTC)*waves* Hello!
I LOVE Vampire stuff... although it gets a lil' tedious when they always do the hetero pairing.
This!
I hate it when they never follow through on the subtext. Blade: The Series killed me for this. Krista and Chase had 10x the chemistry of Krista/Marcus, but they went with the boring old het couple instead of smoking hot, and far more interesting lesbian couple.
All I can say is thank goodness for femslash!
yes that was my favorite line too.
The delivery of that line was perfect. Kristin Bauer's voice is like buttah. Seriously, I could listen to that woman read the phone book (and giggle) all day.
i sincerely hope they develop her character - especially if it involves Sookie.
Me too. I want to see lot's more Pam (and Pam flirting with Sookie). I doubt they'd actually "go there" with Pam and Sookie, but I'd love to see a friendship (with flirting), and a love interest for Pam. I need to see Pam GoGA, I need to see it!
