I love sleeping in my own bed again, but I do not love having to prepare my own meals and make my own bed :(

So much interneting to catch up on, but I did just finish watching Warehouse 13 episode 3x07 “Past Imperfect” and …

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT EPISODE?

It started out so cute and then …

...the rest of the episode happened :(

Thank god there’s a new episode tonight to erase the memory of this … whatever it was.  Bring on Myka saving Captain Janeway with H.G.’s grappling hook!

Thank god I'm not the only one who hated this episode. I thought the Christmas episode was completely pointless but I'd sooner watch that episode fifty times than sit through the crapfest that was 3x07.

Apart from the fact that I don't give a shit about Sam - the man died before the show even started for crying out loud and he looks like Cary Elwes. Not to mention he has horrible taste in pet names - but also that Myka went falling backasswards into Pilot!Myka characterisation, and I found Myka extremely grating the first few episodes.

Where is the goofy Myka I've come to love? I don't like this shrill, angry, can't-see-the-forest-through-the-trees Myka who cries at the drop of a hat.

I liked the B-plot more than that crap. The only thing I enjoyed of the A-plot was the fantastic "No glove no love, man." line Myka let out at the start before she went cray-cray.

(Also am I the only one who thinks that it's too much of a coincidence that both Pete and Jinksy's gloves broke? Maybe it had something to do with that plague of robo-locusts the crazy southern lady let loose in the Warehouse.)

This episode was so pointless and basic. This season has been pretty flaw-free so far - discounting the fact that it could always use more H.G. - so I resented it's mediocreness more than I would have in say Season 1.

Apart from the fact that I don't give a shit about Sam

I know, right! Why did this think that this would have any emotional resonance with the audience. We don't know this dude, and he's been dead for years! Why the hell trot him out in the third season?

Myka went falling backasswards into Pilot!Myka characterisation, and I found Myka extremely grating the first few episodes.

Ugh, I know. I hated Myka at the beginning of the series. She was a shrill, buzz kill and annoyed the hell out of me. Thank god, that the writers actually developed the character (until this episode) and actually let Joanne be funny, and cute and charismatic in the role. Myka owns my heart now. The only good think I can say about this episode is that it reminded me how far Myka has come as a character.

"No glove no love, man." line Myka let out at the start before she went cray-cray.

Word. Only time Myka was Myka. I also loved the smile she gave after Pete said that line about his 'overly cautious partner'. Adorable. And then ... the rest of the episode happened. *sigh*

Maybe it had something to do with that plague of robo-locusts the crazy southern lady let loose in the Warehouse

I hope so, because I can't believe that after that dramatic reveal they've never mentioned the robo-bugs again.

Warehouse is pretty good with continuity (unless it's related to family which they kind of suck at, because I still want to meet Pete and Myka's sisters, if they even exist) but if that dog isn't there in there in 3x08 I'ma be mighty pissed. They made a ~connection. THAT MEANS THE WAREHOUSE GETS A DOG, NO BUTS.

It's really sad that all it would take to please me would be more H.G. and more of this dog and then H.G. meeting and petting the dog (Trey, right? SHORT FOR TRAILER.) but that would require her to not be a hologram, so just hurry up and bust her out of Scary Regent Prison now please.

I had no idea it had even been mentioned that Myka had a sister until like two days ago, but on Pete's sisters front, they did reference her in the Jeri Ryan ep. When Myka was first introduced to "Amanda Lattimer" she said something about Amanada not being Pete's sister because of, and then she pointed to her ear indicating that Amanda wasn't deaf. So, the writers at least remember that Pete has a deaf sister.

I too was looking forward to seeing Trey! I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll see him again!

And honestly, my wish list is your wish list. I just want a corporeal H.G. to be on the show more. I don't even need H.G. in every episode. I'd be fine with her going off on side missions for the Regents or whatever and seeing her four or five times a season like in season 2 (as long as Myka makes references to H.G. so that we know the relationship is still going strong when they're not on screen together!)

Exactly. I'm excited about the prospect of a spin-off but honestly half the reason I love H.G. so much is how she interacts with Myka, and her being off in the 1800's kind of puts a stopper in that. I'd prefer to just have her back at the Warehouse or at least pop in with her wealth of knowledge to help on missions while staring forlornly at Myka every once in a while.

I'd rather have her as a recurring guest star than watching her have a landslide of sexual exploits with every man she can get her hands on- while inventing stuff and solving mysteries of course.

But at least in the present she can continue to be dashing and have someone fully appreciate it because clearly Myka is the only woman she's ever encountered who even comes close to her on an intellectual level and that's half the reason she's so drawn to her. Fawning is all well and good but it would be nice to have an intelligent conversation and have your partner contribute instead of just staring at you and drooling.

For me the only way the spin-off idea works completely is if H.G. still makes guest appearances on W13. Maybe only like two a season or something, but they need to have her free in the future and prospering (and in a perfect world in a relationship with Myka) in order for me to really get invested in the 1890s stuff. Because I do not want to follow H.G. on awesome adventures only to remember that she's locked away in some limbo prison. I need her to recover in the future and to be happy and productive in order to follow that journey in the past.

because clearly Myka is the only woman she's ever encountered who even comes close to her on an intellectual level and that's half the reason she's so drawn to her.

So true. They are really perfect for each other. This is honestly another reason why the spin-off (if/when it goes to air) would do well to tone down the references to Helena's social life. We know any romantic interests she has will ultimately fail, so don't waste our time with it. Just give her a Myka and good relationship in the guest starring spots on W13 so we know Helena ends up okay.

Oh, this spin-off. I both love the idea and am terrified of it. As long as Jaime's in the role I'll watch it though.
