I love sleeping in my own bed again, but I do not love having to prepare my own meals and make my own bed :(

So much interneting to catch up on, but I did just finish watching Warehouse 13 episode 3x07 “Past Imperfect” and …

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT EPISODE?

It started out so cute and then …

...the rest of the episode happened :(

Thank god there’s a new episode tonight to erase the memory of this … whatever it was.  Bring on Myka saving Captain Janeway with H.G.’s grappling hook!

did you catch summer glau being awesome/adorable in ALPHAS (totally a past with Nina too down to how she likes her coffee...) or her being hot in the keith urban video long hot summer?

I did see Summer on Alphas, and THAT was good episode! Also, she and Nina totally used to be together. The LOOKS they gave each other. The wistfulness in Nina's voice whenever she talked about Skylar. I swear Laura Mennel wants to develop a lesbian fanbase (and I know Azita does, lol, she's already shipping herself with Jaime Murray) all we need are for the Alphas writers to give Rachel and Nina a chance to shine!

Also, am I alone in fanwanking that Skylar managed to create a machine that allowed her to have Nina's baby? Because I'm totally going to go on believing that's Nina's baby.

And now I'm going to have to go watch a Keith Urban video ;)

Oh what havok there would be if you stuck Skylar and HG in the same room. Piss them off and I could see Skylar INVENTING Cameron Phillips with HG's help. Laura Mennell aparently played a lesbian nun on the l word so she and Skylar deff have a chance. That coffee scene with Hicks totally proves that she preffers Skylar. In light of all the Resident Evil news I soooo hope that Ali Larter will still be in it... and adorable K-mart.

It would be amazing!

Me too! Hearing Jill will be in it makes me happy. But Claire being in it would make me ecstatic. I need the OTP to continue!

Oh man, what happened on the last ep of W13? I have to admit, I ignored it.

The B plotline with Jinks, Claudia and Artie was cool and relevant, but Myka (and Pete) re-investigating the death of her ex-partner and lovah Sam bored me.

First of all, I found Myka kind of abrasive in the first season and Myka was basically first season Myka in this episode so I was not really loving it.

Second of all, the episode seemed like a retread of a former, better storyline.

It was all about Myka doubting herself because she was too late to save dead!Sam from becoming dead, but we've already had the 'Myka doubts herself' plot-line with H.G. and it was done better then because we knew H.G. and cared about her and her relationship with Myka.

In this episode they kept on showing flashbacks of Myka and dead!Sam to make us care, but I didn't cause he's dead!Sam and H.G. exists in the world so all other romantic interests for Myka are irrelevant.

Welcome back!
I agree, the J-C-A subplot was fun, and had a great buildup to the big reveal for them about Stukowski.

There were two threads of story that I could really appreciate from the episode's main plot, though. First, I find it interesting that they went to the effort to draw a parallel between Myka's past and Artie's past - in this ep for Myka and in Vendetta for Artie, we find out that artifacts had a huge impact on their lives even before they knew about the existence of artifacts. Second, I'm glad they cleared up the unnecessary kerfuffle regarding Sam's wife and the implication that Myka was a homewrecker. Good, done, settled... now, let's get HG back, and let Myka kiss her like they let her kiss Sam. ;)

Can't wait to see (Regent?) Mulgrew on tonight's ep.

I feel like I might've been the only one grimacing throughout the entire Sam/Myka parts. I was mentally (okay, outloud) screaming about how hetero!Myka does not compute. I want HG back. I care about her. I didn't watch season one so I have absolutely no idea why I was supposed to be sad about some blonde guy who isn't as hot or as smart or ~dashing as HG.

Joanne is cute as hell, but that really only made that shirt-no-pants scene watchable. Everything else that involved Myka/Sam was almost unbearable. After that first scene was Pete (where she was cute as hell) Myka was pretty much unrecognizable to me.

The Myka/Sam scenes did make me appreciate Joanne and Jaime's chemistry even more, because while Joanne was workin' it, the chemistry between Myka and Sam was non-existent.

And yeah, I don't see why we were supposed to give a shit about dead!Sam or issues Myka had worked through in like the first three episodes of the show.

There just seemed to be no purpose plot-wise to this episode. The episode was not fun and entertaining like the plot-less "Don't Hate the Player", and the episode had no emotional impact because NO1CURR about dead!Sam.

Welcome back!

I liked last weeks episode, but wasn't one of the best this season tbh. One thing though, Joanne looks like an awesome kisser, LOL.

I've only watched one episode of 'Alpha's so need to catch up.

I'm excited for tonights episode of W17 yet more excited for next weeks promo to see if we get anymore HG/Jaime. Joanne's interview where she said about HG having a lot do to Myka's journey, well, we've yet to see that in it's fullness, so it'll be interesting to see how that play out over the coming weeks. I wish more spoilers would leak so we could find out a little more, plus just how many eps Jaime will be appearing in.

Last weeks episode wasn't terrible, but it was the first episode all season that I had trouble paying attention to. It just bored me.

Joanne does look like an amazing kisser though. the things she does with her mouth are just ... UNF! I could watch Myka make sexy faces all day.

Alphas is really decent. I'd totes recommend catching up on it.

Thank the lord, Warehouse 13 was back up to snuff tonight. Awesome episode, and my Myka was back! Jinks/Claudia broke my heart a bit, and Pete hugging Myka broke it too but in a sweet way. I love the Pete/Myka bromance.

I do wish we know when H.G. would pop up again though, because I find myself hoping for an appearance every episode that airs, and then I'm a little disappointed with the ep no matter how good it was.

I may or may not have just waited to DL the episode before completely skipping past the myka/sam clips...although I did pause on them every now and then because curly!myka was back, and I do love the curls.

With that said, I also may have totally watched that one episode of Alphas solely for Summer Glau, because yes, I am that biased. I also am not ashamed to admit that I am biased enough that I squee'd when I saw Jewel and Sean and shouted "OMG KAYLEE AND SIMON" in the past episode.

And I am looking forward to the episode tonight, if only because I got my hopes up that HG appears in this one and Myka is overall a totally kick-ass life saver *nods*

I know! The flashbacks really hammered home how much I miss the curls. I've resigned myself to the fact that the curls are gone for this season, but I hope Joanne goes back to them. She's stunning all the time, but she looks amazing with the curls.

Tonight's episode was really great. the only thing I can complain about is that there was not H.G. appearance (I hoped Artie had her holo-ball in his bag). But at least we got Myka making a H.G. reference, sounding like a proud girlfriend! This episode is why I'm so obsessed with the show this season.

Finally saw it after the internet taking FOREVER to provide download links, and ...

THAT WAS MY SHOW!

That's what I'm talking about. I enjoyed the hell out of that show and this time around I was actually emotionally invested in what was happening.

I like Jinks, I hope he's not really gone.

Thank god I'm not the only one who hated this episode. I thought the Christmas episode was completely pointless but I'd sooner watch that episode fifty times than sit through the crapfest that was 3x07.

Apart from the fact that I don't give a shit about Sam - the man died before the show even started for crying out loud and he looks like Cary Elwes. Not to mention he has horrible taste in pet names - but also that Myka went falling backasswards into Pilot!Myka characterisation, and I found Myka extremely grating the first few episodes.

Where is the goofy Myka I've come to love? I don't like this shrill, angry, can't-see-the-forest-through-the-trees Myka who cries at the drop of a hat.

I liked the B-plot more than that crap. The only thing I enjoyed of the A-plot was the fantastic "No glove no love, man." line Myka let out at the start before she went cray-cray.

(Also am I the only one who thinks that it's too much of a coincidence that both Pete and Jinksy's gloves broke? Maybe it had something to do with that plague of robo-locusts the crazy southern lady let loose in the Warehouse.)

This episode was so pointless and basic. This season has been pretty flaw-free so far - discounting the fact that it could always use more H.G. - so I resented it's mediocreness more than I would have in say Season 1.

Apart from the fact that I don't give a shit about Sam

I know, right! Why did this think that this would have any emotional resonance with the audience. We don't know this dude, and he's been dead for years! Why the hell trot him out in the third season?

Myka went falling backasswards into Pilot!Myka characterisation, and I found Myka extremely grating the first few episodes.

Ugh, I know. I hated Myka at the beginning of the series. She was a shrill, buzz kill and annoyed the hell out of me. Thank god, that the writers actually developed the character (until this episode) and actually let Joanne be funny, and cute and charismatic in the role. Myka owns my heart now. The only good think I can say about this episode is that it reminded me how far Myka has come as a character.

"No glove no love, man." line Myka let out at the start before she went cray-cray.

Word. Only time Myka was Myka. I also loved the smile she gave after Pete said that line about his 'overly cautious partner'. Adorable. And then ... the rest of the episode happened. *sigh*

Maybe it had something to do with that plague of robo-locusts the crazy southern lady let loose in the Warehouse

I hope so, because I can't believe that after that dramatic reveal they've never mentioned the robo-bugs again.

Warehouse is pretty good with continuity (unless it's related to family which they kind of suck at, because I still want to meet Pete and Myka's sisters, if they even exist) but if that dog isn't there in there in 3x08 I'ma be mighty pissed. They made a ~connection. THAT MEANS THE WAREHOUSE GETS A DOG, NO BUTS.

It's really sad that all it would take to please me would be more H.G. and more of this dog and then H.G. meeting and petting the dog (Trey, right? SHORT FOR TRAILER.) but that would require her to not be a hologram, so just hurry up and bust her out of Scary Regent Prison now please.

I had no idea it had even been mentioned that Myka had a sister until like two days ago, but on Pete's sisters front, they did reference her in the Jeri Ryan ep. When Myka was first introduced to "Amanda Lattimer" she said something about Amanada not being Pete's sister because of, and then she pointed to her ear indicating that Amanda wasn't deaf. So, the writers at least remember that Pete has a deaf sister.

I too was looking forward to seeing Trey! I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll see him again!

And honestly, my wish list is your wish list. I just want a corporeal H.G. to be on the show more. I don't even need H.G. in every episode. I'd be fine with her going off on side missions for the Regents or whatever and seeing her four or five times a season like in season 2 (as long as Myka makes references to H.G. so that we know the relationship is still going strong when they're not on screen together!)

Exactly. I'm excited about the prospect of a spin-off but honestly half the reason I love H.G. so much is how she interacts with Myka, and her being off in the 1800's kind of puts a stopper in that. I'd prefer to just have her back at the Warehouse or at least pop in with her wealth of knowledge to help on missions while staring forlornly at Myka every once in a while.

I'd rather have her as a recurring guest star than watching her have a landslide of sexual exploits with every man she can get her hands on- while inventing stuff and solving mysteries of course.

But at least in the present she can continue to be dashing and have someone fully appreciate it because clearly Myka is the only woman she's ever encountered who even comes close to her on an intellectual level and that's half the reason she's so drawn to her. Fawning is all well and good but it would be nice to have an intelligent conversation and have your partner contribute instead of just staring at you and drooling.

From: [identity profile] fembuck.livejournal.com
For me the only way the spin-off idea works completely is if H.G. still makes guest appearances on W13. Maybe only like two a season or something, but they need to have her free in the future and prospering (and in a perfect world in a relationship with Myka) in order for me to really get invested in the 1890s stuff. Because I do not want to follow H.G. on awesome adventures only to remember that she's locked away in some limbo prison. I need her to recover in the future and to be happy and productive in order to follow that journey in the past.

because clearly Myka is the only woman she's ever encountered who even comes close to her on an intellectual level and that's half the reason she's so drawn to her.

So true. They are really perfect for each other. This is honestly another reason why the spin-off (if/when it goes to air) would do well to tone down the references to Helena's social life. We know any romantic interests she has will ultimately fail, so don't waste our time with it. Just give her a Myka and good relationship in the guest starring spots on W13 so we know Helena ends up okay.

Oh, this spin-off. I both love the idea and am terrified of it. As long as Jaime's in the role I'll watch it though.
